Ye Qi walked up to Luo Qi with a hearty laugh, scooped him up, and spun him around in mid-air. He said familiarly,
“Little Luo Luo, did you miss Ye Qi big brother?”
Luo Qi held onto Ye Qi’s arms and nodded obediently, “Super missed!”
Ye Qi was overjoyed and affectionately nuzzled Luo Qi’s little cheek, “I brought Elizabeth, want to see?”
Luo Qi followed Ye Qi’s gaze and immediately spotted the mecha called Elizabeth.
On the mecha training grounds, there were many basic mechas prepared by the school for students’ fundamental training.
But in front of Elizabeth, these mechas all paled in comparison, looking like mere toys.
Elizabeth was a pure white mecha, about two and a half meters tall, radiating a technological sheen.
In fact, it was precisely so. Elizabeth was equipped with at least dozens of Earth’s most advanced laser weapons, in addition to various other attack methods.
Even with depleted resources, the mecha itself could withstand pressure equivalent to one hundred tons without sustaining any damage.
Luo Qi, held in Ye Mu’s arms, couldn’t help but swallow hard.
He now understood what it meant for mechas to be a man’s romance. Even an eight or nine-year-old boy would instinctively want to be romantic when faced with such a beautiful mecha.
As more students gathered around, Ye Yun decided to issue a notice, inviting all the first-year students to come and see Elizabeth.
Ye Qi pinched Luo Qi’s cheek with his free hand and asked, “Luo Luo, do you like it?”
Luo Qi nodded vigorously, “Like, like!”
Ye Qi glanced triumphantly at Ye Mu, successfully earning an angry look from the latter. He bounced the little insect race member in his arms and headed towards his mecha.
The closer he got to Elizabeth, the more amazed Luo Qi was by the beauty of this combination of steel and technology. Elizabeth’s cockpit door was half-open, revealing the intricate instruments within from the outside.
These instruments were crucial for a mecha’s operation and were precisely what Luo Qi needed to study diligently at the moment.
Once most of the first-year students had arrived, Ye Yun began to introduce Elizabeth’s structure. This direct introduction was easier to remember than learning from books.
Luo Qi was finally placed on the ground by Ye Qi and stood at the very front with Ye Mu. Ye Mu pulled Luo Qi behind him and glared fiercely at Ye Qi.
Ye Qi clapped his hands and suddenly walked towards Ye Yun, saying, “Dad, want to spar with me?”
Ye Yun’s lips curved, “Spar with me? Are you sure?”
He surveyed the surroundings. The children were eagerly watching the beautiful Elizabeth, and they all became excited upon hearing Ye Qi’s words.
Ye Qi’s appearance was a complete inheritance from Ye Yun. His facial features were deep-set, but when he smiled, there was a hint of mischief that Ye Yun lacked, making him appear wild and unrestrained.
“Yes, I haven’t had a real combat experience since I got Elizabeth. Dad, aren’t you afraid of Elizabeth?”
Ye Yun snorted, “Brat, you don’t need to use provocation on me.”
Ye Qi grinned, not refuting, and looked intently at Ye Yun.
On Earth, Ye Yun was recognized as the strongest combatant. However, after witnessing the insect race members who could travel from the Insect Star to Earth without mechas or flying ships,
Ye Qi felt it wasn’t enough.
He had to work harder to ensure the planet he loved would always exist, and that he could protect it from harm.
But the first step he needed to take was to defeat his father.
Moreover, throughout his childhood, Ye Yun had bestowed upon him and Ye Mu not only honor but also a pervasive shadow that loomed over them, an insurmountable one.
No matter where he went, the title of Ye Yun’s son was always attached to him. Anything he did well was taken for granted, while any failure was seen as a disgrace to the Ye family.
Ye Qi’s gaze became resolute. Whether it was today or in the future, he would one day become the new hope of Earth, not just “Ye Yun’s son.”
“What do you say, Dad? Let me show everyone how powerful Elizabeth is?”
Ye Yun raised his hand and took off his jacket. “Alright.”
As the dark green jacket came off, Ye Yun’s firm and smoothly contoured muscles were revealed. He was over forty, but he was not at a disadvantage even in front of Ye Qi.
“I won’t bully you. I’ll use a basic mecha.”
Ye Qi’s smile faltered, “Dad, winning like this won’t be glorious for me.”
Ye Yun rolled up the sleeves of his shirt, revealing his beautifully sculpted forearm. “Brat, you’re still too green.”
He turned and walked towards one of the basic mechas, opened the cockpit, and sat inside.
Ye Qi also stretched his wrists and entered Elizabeth’s cockpit.
Luo Qi looked around blankly, and Ye Mu pulled him towards the safe spectator seats. “Why did they start fighting after just a few words?”
Ye Mu’s expression was pleased. “My brother has challenged Dad many times since he was little.
When he was young, it was puzzles and building blocks. Later it was martial arts and firearm assembly. And then it became like this, competing in mecha piloting and combat.”
He looked at Luo Qi beside him, thinking that Luo Qi probably wouldn’t understand this kind of love-hate father-son relationship, as Cesi wouldn’t bully his own children to the point of tears.
Luo Qi’s gaze turned to the training ground, his eyes fixed on the two mechas that had begun to move. “And then what?”
Ye Mu sighed, his voice filled with amusement, “And the result is, my brother has never won.”
Luo Qi: “……”
The two mechas activated. One of them looked very ordinary compared to the other, but its speed was no less than Elizabeth’s. In a flash, they collided head-on.
The basic mecha visibly sustained several scratches, a result of its manufacturing materials being completely inferior in hardness to Elizabeth’s.
Even a basic mecha, when its speed was pushed to the limit, was no longer discernible by the naked eye. Moreover, the pilot was Ye Yun, who could even match Elizabeth with his seasoned combat experience.
To prevent accidental injuries, Elizabeth’s area-of-effect weapons were not activated, and it fought solely with its own body.
Under these circumstances, Ye Yun clearly held the advantage.
The two mechas’ collisions continuously erupted with bright sparks, almost covering their movement trajectories. Faintly, one could only see the increasing scratches and dents on the basic mecha.
Suddenly, before anyone could clearly see, Elizabeth flew backward and finally crashed heavily onto the ground.
Luo Qi exclaimed in amazement, “Elizabeth actually lost!”
Ye Mu smiled as he watched Ye Qi scramble out of the cockpit in a disheveled state. “Yes, brother has never won.”
