Chapter 69 The Resurrected

The colossal, tens-of-meters-tall body of the Wolf Resentment appeared cumbersome at first glance.

However, only after combat did one realize the terrifying agility concealed within its monstrous, colossal form.

The combination of weight and speed delivered absolute destructive power.

When the Wolf Resentment's four limbs exerted force and leaped high into the air, the very earth trembled.

Waves of impact, akin to an earthquake, rapidly propagated outwards. Several nearby skyscrapers, piercing the clouds, tilted and collapsed under the residual shockwave of the Wolf Resentment's leap.

Whether by luck or misfortune, most of the former survivors in these buildings had already evacuated to other safe zones.

The remaining few had been swiftly devoured by wolves in the darkness after nightfall.

Therefore, the collapse of these buildings did not result in additional casualties.

Yet, in the distant safe zone, everyone was profoundly shaken by the spectacle before them.

As the night dissipated, moonlight cascaded upon the land.

From within the safe zone, onlookers witnessed, kilometers away, several skyscrapers that had pierced the clouds crumble with a deafening roar.

Amidst the billowing smoke and dust, a monstrously terrifying giant creature soared into the sky, its target fixed on Chen Luo, who hovered in the air.

Even from thousands of meters away, even if their strength was insufficient to discern the monster's true form.

Merely observing the monster's indistinct silhouette, an overwhelming sense of oppressive dread surged within their hearts.

"What in the world is that thing? Its sheer size makes it a veritable monster!"

"How are we supposed to defeat such a terrifying monster?! With just one leap, a hundred-meter-tall building collapsed!"

Those with even a rudimentary understanding of physics felt genuine terror at the scene unfolding before them.

A beast tens of meters tall, to exist in the real world, its bones and muscles would have to be unimaginably strong.

Otherwise, with such a colossal volume, the Earth's gravity alone would be enough to destroy it.

Yet, this monster not only supported its massive frame but also possessed terrifying speed and power.

Aside from heavy artillery like missiles, people could not conceive of anything that could even injure, let alone destroy it.

But such monsters were not stationary targets; once they rampaged, they could easily inflict damage akin to a natural disaster.

And Disaster-class entities were precisely like that; their very existence was a terrifying calamity.

As long as they willed it, they could create disasters that were truly horrifying.

The survivors kilometers away merely felt terror, while Chen Luo, standing high in the sky, faced this inhuman power directly.

Chen Luo stood upon a pair of outstretched Mage Hands, watching the Wolf Resentment charge towards him, a surge of displeasure flowing within him.

His exceptional mental power allowed Chen Luo to clearly perceive the psychic fluctuations emanating from the monster.

These were the chaotic wails of millions of Night Wolves, the Night Wolves that had been tragically slain and found no rest.

These were curses hurled at this world, at all living beings, from the depths of their beings!

But amidst all the curses, a familiar voice was jarringly piercing.

It came from the Wolf Resentment's head. Chen Luo's keen eyesight allowed him to vaguely discern the darkness and death energy enveloping the monster.

Embedded in the Wolf Resentment's head was a skull, scorched black. Within it, a silver-white wolf was weeping and wailing.

This was an opponent he had defeated, and whom he had acknowledged.

The Wolf King's dying apology seemed to still echo in his ears.

Who was it?

Who would not even allow it peace in death, but instead transform it into such a wretched monster?!

The mana surging within his body seemed to sense its master's anger.

A faint blue light diffused around Chen Luo's body, causing him to exude a pressure that rivaled, if not surpassed, that of the Wolf Resentment before him.

Yes, even though Chen Luo, currently at Rank 0, was lower in rank than the Wolf Resentment.

However, the pressure he exuded after his anger could not only contend with this monster but even subtly surpass it!

His golden eyes were filled with both fury and pity.

"You rat behind this, what do you consider life?"

In the void, an unprecedentedly intricate array of magic patterns, under the effect of the Divine Chant, was completed in an instant.

But it was not enough. With a flicker of his will, more magic patterns continued to layer and intertwine.

The mana, like a great river, surged and roared within these magnificent magic patterns, as if venting the master's rage.

The rotation of his thoughts took but a moment, and the Wolf Resentment's gaping maw was already within striking distance.

Arriving faster than the Wolf Resentment's maw was the decay aura constantly emanating from its body – the curse of the dead upon the living, the sigh that returned all things to death.

Layers of terrifying black and gray fluctuations swept towards Chen Luo like a tide.

As Chen Luo gazed at the rapidly approaching decay fluctuations, the light in his eyes blazed to its utmost:

"Super Magic Combination!"

*Buzz!*

The void began to ripple. A colossal palm, as if cast from bronze, appeared vertically between Chen Luo and the Wolf Resentment.

The black and gray decay fluctuations, upon touching the bronze giant hand, melted away like ice and snow, rather than being simply blocked.

This was because a layer of brilliant white starfire burned upon this bronze giant hand!

The bright flames illuminated his blood-red and golden eyes. The Wolf Resentment's eyes were filled with astonishment, while Chen Luo's eyes now held only calm.

No longer a chaotic bombardment across a vast area, the starfire was transformed into an outer shell, enveloping a Mage Hand several meters tall.

Every moment required Chen Luo's immense mental effort to maintain the balance between the two spells.

With a flicker of thought, the brilliant white flames began to fluctuate violently.

The upright giant palm, carrying the intensely fluctuating flames, slashed directly towards the Wolf Resentment.

This was Chen Luo's current attack, unleashed without reservation. Mana, spirit, and all his anger were fused into this single strike.

As the Wolf Resentment gazed at the incoming attack, fluctuations of fear appeared in its scarlet eyes.

This power could kill it!

But the instant the thought of dodging flickered!

The giant palm had already sliced through the sky like a streak of light!

Like a hot knife cutting through butter, the Wolf Resentment's terrified body, under the terrifying power of the giant palm and the absolute high temperature of the starfire, did not last even a moment before being smoothly sliced in two!

"Roar!!!"

The Wolf Resentment, bisected from the middle, let out a shrill howl!!

After the roar, the vitality in its scarlet eyes instantly vanished.

[Your skill has achieved a one-hit kill effect! "Wolf Resentment (Disaster-class)" has had its HP depleted.]

*Crack!* The black wolf bone embedded at the apex of its head also quietly shattered. A silver-white wolf soul, freed from its restraint, was about to break free!

But! The Wolf Resentment's scarlet eyes lit up once more.

Malevolent gazes, emanating from both ends of the corpse, simultaneously fixed upon the wolf soul yearning for freedom:

"Don't... think... you... can... escape...."

"I... am... immortal!!"

[Resurrectionist Talent Activated! Darkness and Death are the essence of the Wolf Resentment; as long as resentment burns, the Wolf Resentment will not die!]

*Boom!!!*

From the severed Wolf Resentment, terrifying black and gray power began to erupt.

The powers of darkness and death transformed into tendrils, all reaching out to grasp the silver-white wolf soul.

And from between the two halves of the severed corpse, streams of black and gray tendrils extended, seemingly attempting to reconnect and revive itself!

As the wolf soul was about to be restrained once more, and the severed wolf corpse showed signs of revival.

A calm voice echoed in the Wolf Resentment's ears:

"I said, I'd kill you in one move."

"One move is done. You are already dead, Wolf Resentment!"
