Shen Lin appeared and then left, but Gu Xiuyu across the street never emerged from his car.
Ye Ziyu waited downstairs, a sense of unease growing within her. She took out her phone and made a video call to Shen Lin.
"Madam, I've already given Young Master Di the medicine you provided," Shen Lin said, then turned the video to show Di Mingjue on the hospital bed.
Di Mingjue, after taking the medicine, appeared no different than before. It was too early to tell if the drug was effective.
"Miss Ye, our Young Master Gu asked me to escort you over."
Shen Lin heard a man's voice from the video call and immediately turned the camera to face him.
In the video, Ye Ziyu's gaze was directed upwards, and the man beside her only showed the collar of his shirt.
"Madam, do you need me to come down?"
"No, you stay up there and keep an eye on Mingjue. If he shows any adverse reactions, call me immediately. I'm just downstairs at the hospital and won't leave."
Ye Ziyu ended the call with Shen Lin and looked at the man in front of her with displeasure.
She had clearly instructed Gu Xiuyu that she would not leave the hospital entrance unless Di Mingjue was in a stable condition, nor would she meet with him.
"Miss Ye, this way, please!" the man said, gesturing in a direction.
Ye Ziyu stood her ground as firm as a mountain. "Tell him I will not leave here until I've ensured Di Mingjue is in a safe state."
"Miss Ye, our Young Master Gu said the antidote has already been given to you, and you've arranged for Mr. Di to drink it. If you continue to stand here, don't blame us for taking action."
Take action?
Ye Ziyu looked at the tall, burly man dressed all in black. She had guessed that Gu Xiuyu wouldn't wait for her so calmly.
However, she wanted to see what they could do if she insisted on standing there.
Seeing that Ye Ziyu had fallen silent, the man looked uncertainly towards Gu Xiuyu opposite him.
At that moment, men dressed in the same attire emerged from various corners of the hospital and simultaneously approached them.
The man instantly understood and, before Ye Ziyu could react, moved to restrain her hands.
"What do you think you're doing?" Ye Ziyu demanded.
With people all over the hospital entrance, she could have attracted the attention of passersby by shouting.
The man, trying his best not to harm Ye Ziyu, coaxed her gently, "Miss Ye, if you cooperate with us, we naturally won't hurt you."
"Cooperate? Dream on!" Ye Ziyu declared, then quickly stomped her foot down forcefully onto the man's instep.
Her speed was remarkable, and the force of her step was significant. The man was caught completely off guard, giving Ye Ziyu an opening.
Breaking free from his grip, Ye Ziyu turned and attempted to run into the hospital. Before she could take a single step, a group of men in black surrounded her.
"Miss Ye, I apologize," said the man in the lead, as his companions moved towards her.
Ye Ziyu, of course, wouldn't stand there quietly waiting to be captured. She tilted her head back and shouted loudly towards the hospital security guards at the entrance, "Help! Kidnapping!"
The security guards had noticed Ye Ziyu long ago. Seeing her surrounded by men and shouting helplessly, they exchanged a glance and approached with their batons.
Gu Xiuyu, meticulous as ever, had anticipated such a move. The men he had arranged saw the security guards approaching and immediately sent two of their number away from Ye Ziyu to intercept them.
Compared to them, the security guards appeared much weaker. With a mere glance, the guards were frozen in place, afraid to advance.
"What are you doing?" one of the guards questioned the men, puffing himself up with bravado and waving his baton.
The man ignored him, turning back to look at Ye Ziyu, who had been lifted by his accomplices, and continued to stare down the guards, preventing them from approaching.
This blatant kidnapping happening right before their eyes went unnoticed by the silent guards, who secretly pulled out their phones to call the police.
