After it concluded, Shen Lin immediately sent people to inspect the reporters' manuscripts. Di Mingjue, holding a cup of coffee, walked towards Ye Ziyu on stage.
"You've worked hard!"
The warm coffee in her hands instantly chased away the cold from Ye Ziyu's body. She exhaled, smiling as she asked, "How do you feel?"
"Very good!" Di Mingjue praised without restraint.
Though she appeared commanding to others, Di Mingjue knew she was actually quite nervous. So many people were involved, and she feared saying the wrong thing, which would give the crazy netizens an opportunity to attack her even more ferociously.
"I hope it helps a little." Ye Ziyu drank her coffee, holding Di Mingjue's hand as they left the press conference.
Whether the press conference was effective or not was unclear, but the news released by Ye's company was bound to have an impact.
Upon learning about the online attacks on Ye Ziyu's life, Ye Qianzhi immediately instructed Ye Shaoting to respond.
The response adopted an even sterner tone than Ye Ziyu's statement at the press conference. They declared they would pursue legal action against anyone spreading relevant rumors online and would show no leniency.
The trolls were paid to do their work. Those in power, fearing exposure, dared not deploy any more of them. With the anonymous accounts disappearing, the online discourse became much cleaner.
As the storm subsided, Gu Xiuyu, carrying the results of his investigation, personally visited Ye's Group.
The two companies had a cooperative relationship, so Gu Xiuyu entered Ye's Group as easily as he would enter Gu's.
The reception staff in the lobby recognized Gu Xiuyu and contacted the CEO's office by phone.
"Mr. Gu," Ye Shaoting opened the door to the reception room.
Ye Shaoting's gaze fell behind him.
Having learned of Gu Xiuyu's arrival, Ye Shaoting had come with his assistant, without informing Ye Ziyu.
"Where is Miss Ye?" Gu Xiuyu stated the purpose of his visit directly.
The rumors between them had only just died down. His proactive seeking out of her now – was he trying to stir up further misunderstandings?
Being men, Ye Shaoting could understand half of it from a subtle glance.
"Miss Ziyu doesn't seem to be in the company at the moment," Ye Shaoting said uncertainly, glancing at his assistant beside him. "Go and check."
Hearing she was not present, Gu Xiuyu immediately pictured a scene.
Was she with Di Mingjue?
In a moment, the assistant returned.
Ye Shaoting looked towards the doorway, and the assistant immediately reported the situation.
"Miss Ye is not here."
"Mr. Gu, do you have something very important to tell Zi Yu? Since she happens to be away, perhaps you could tell me, and I'll relay it to her when she returns."
Ye Shaoting's suggestion was indeed a solution, but it meant one less opportunity for Gu Xiuyu to see Ye Ziyu. He stood up and said, "No need to trouble you, Mr. Ye. I'll come again next time to tell her in person."
"Alright, it's almost noon. Why don't you stay a bit longer at Ye's, Mr. Gu, and we can have lunch together?" Ye Shaoting said, then turned to instruct his assistant to book a restaurant.
Without Ye Ziyu, he didn't wish to do anything else.
Gu Xiuyu refused as he walked out from the conference table. "You don't need to go to any trouble, Mr. Ye. The company has other arrangements shortly. Since Miss Ye is not here, I won't disturb you any further."
Ye Shaoting accompanied him out of the conference room, and they stopped by the elevators.
"If Mr. Gu has matters to attend to, I won't insist. We'll catch up another time."
"Alright."
Ye Shaoting personally escorted Gu Xiuyu out of the Ye's building.
He stood by the roadside waiting for his driver when a graceful figure caught Gu Xiuyu's eye.
Ye Ziyu was arm-in-arm with Di Mingjue, and they had just emerged from the building opposite. Chatting about something, Di Mingjue said something, and Ye Ziyu playfully patted his shoulder in disagreement.
Seeing this, Gu Xiuyu envied Di Mingjue for being able to see such a playful side of Ye Ziyu.
