Shen Lin first reported to Di Mingjue and, upon receiving permission, took Di Minghao upstairs.
While riding the elevator, Di Minghao bombarded Shen Lin with questions, inquiring about the company's recent projects and Di Mingjue's health.
Ding~ The elevator reached the top floor.
"Mr. Di, please!" Shen Lin held the elevator door open with one hand, offering no response to his questions.
With something on his mind, Di Minghao naturally paid no attention to Shen Lin. Eager to proceed, he exited the elevator and, without waiting for Shen Lin to lead, pushed the door open and walked straight in.
"Mingjue, how have you been lately? I've been so busy, I haven't had a chance to visit," Di Minghao said with a hearty laugh, approaching Di Mingjue.
Shen Lin rushed in, quickly checking Di Mingjue's complexion.
"My cousin is very thoughtful," Di Mingjue replied politely.
Di Minghao pulled up a stool for himself, crossed his legs, and waved his hand, "You're too kind. We're family, there's no need for such politeness."
Hearing his response, Di Mingjue fell silent.
After the pleasantries, the unusual quiet in the room left Di Minghao unsure of what to say. Facing the imposing presence of Di Mingjue, he felt a degree of apprehension.
He rubbed his knees back and forth, his lips parted and moved without a sound. Glancing at Di Mingjue, he noticed him facing forward. Gritting his teeth, he spoke, "Mingjue, I'm not just here to visit today. I have a very promising project I'd like to invite you to join."
As he spoke, his intentions were revealed in his eyes.
Di Mingjue turned his head and repeated, "Project?"
Di Minghao excitedly stood up from his chair, leaning close to Di Mingjue's shoulder, "Yes, I've recently set my sights on a piece of land. The location is excellent, near the western suburbs. Building a hotel and resort there would surely be a very profitable venture."
The eastern suburbs were largely developed. As for the western suburbs, the terrain was ordinary, and the location was further from the city center than the eastern suburbs. When other groups considered development, the eastern suburbs were always their first choice.
"If the project is that good, cousin can certainly try it out," Di Mingjue said.
Not catching the implied refusal, Di Minghao continued, "You mean you're willing to invest?"
He certainly had a knack for wishful thinking!
Di Mingjue's lips curved upwards, a slight smile on his face, "Cousin, you've misunderstood. I meant that *you* can try to undertake this project, not that I will be investing."
"Not investing?" Di Minghao questioned in surprise, "Why not?"
"Di Jue Group is already involved in numerous projects, and we don't have spare personnel to participate in others. Moreover, I'm not interested in the development of the western suburbs, so I naturally won't invest," Di Mingjue answered his question decisively and efficiently.
Even if it weren't the western suburbs, he still wouldn't invest.
Given Di Minghao's capabilities and his business style, Di Mingjue would never participate in projects he was involved in.
The fervent hope he had felt earlier was now replaced by anger and frustration. Di Minghao slammed his hand on the table, shouting, "Are you doubting me?"
"If you insist on thinking that way, then there's nothing I can do," Di Mingjue shrugged, looking helpless.
His attitude felt like an insult to Di Minghao. He clenched his hands by his knees, veins bulging.
"Cousin, if you have nothing else, please head back. I have many things to attend to and cannot spare time for idle chatter."
As Di Mingjue spoke, Shen Lin, who had been waiting, stepped forward to see Di Minghao out.
Sandwiched between them, Di Minghao retorted defiantly, "Fine, you've got some nerve!"
Before leaving, he forcefully kicked a table leg.
After Di Minghao had left, Shen Lin returned and was instructed by Di Mingjue to investigate Di Minghao's company and the western suburbs project he had mentioned.
