Chapter 709: Chapter 409 Henry, You’re So Bad
He followed her out and noticed she was wearing wide-leg suspenders. He was puzzled for a moment, "Those pants look a bit familiar."
"I bought them this morning and modified them myself. How do they look? Stylish, right?"
Henry Sullivan glanced at her, surprised at her skill.
With that modification, the pants indeed looked much more upscale.
"New pants and you’re already tinkering with them. You’re never satisfied, are you?"
Ivy Miller laughed, "Uncle, you don’t get it. Youth is meant to be wild. How can you have a happy life without a little chaos?"
He frowned at her. How could everything she said sound so convincing yet so outlandish?
Ivy asked, "Where are you taking me, to town?"
Henry pointed to a small hill not far away, "There’s a little hill over there. I’ll take you for a walk up the mountain."
"I’m not going," Ivy immediately stopped.
He looked at her, "Why not?"
"There are wolves," she said loudly.
Henry couldn’t help but chuckle, "Don’t worry, I have a gun."
"Really?" She scrutinized his waist.
Henry rolled his eyes helplessly, "Are you just here to mess around?"
After he spoke, he headed towards the door. Ivy frowned; what did she say wrong?
He walked a good distance and didn’t hear footsteps, so he turned back to look at her, "There are no wolves, let’s go."
Ivy stomped her foot in frustration, "Henry Sullivan, you’re terrible."
Henry turned back, laughing as he walked. Ivy quickly ran to catch up, giving his arm a playful hit, "How can you be so mean."
"You’re just too gullible, don’t blame me. In a place like this, how could there possibly be wolves? Just think about it."
The two of them turned the corner out the gate and walked less than a few hundred meters to the small hill.
Well, it was a small hill to him, but to Ivy, it was definitely a mountain.
She hated exercise the most, standing at the foot of the hill, looking distressed, "Uncle, I don’t like climbing."
"How about this, you climb with me, and I’ll tell you a story as we go.
Wherever you climb to, I’ll tell up to that point."
"Tell a story?" She looked at him, a bit puzzled.
Henry curved his lips, "My past."
Ivy raised an eyebrow, now that was an enticing offer.
Thinking carefully, she was quite curious about the past of this uncle who only married at 37.
Especially curious about the story with that woman in the photo.
Why didn’t they end up together?
But looking up at the peak, she pouted, really not wanting to climb.
"The opportunity is only once. If you don’t listen today, I won’t tell it later."
She pursed her lips, looking at him, "Why are you telling me your past story?"
"During lunch today, I thought carefully.
Since we’re married, keeping her photo in my wallet indeed hurts you.
Since you know of her existence, if I don’t clear this up, there might be a rift between us in the future.
Rather than being awkward due to these things, it’s better to talk it out.
Being open with each other, there won’t be any resentment in our hearts."
He couldn’t let her suffer along with him; after all, his past had nothing to do with her.
Hurting an innocent person with his past was a sin.
Hearing this, Ivy felt touched, thinking that this uncle considered matters so thoroughly.
She gritted her teeth and stepped forward to grab his wrist, "Let’s go then. I’ll borrow you as a walking stick."
"Alright."
