Chi Yi Ran looked at him in disbelief.
He was still as handsome as when she first saw him, but whether it was the effect of his police uniform or the seriousness on his face, it gave him a strong sense of pressure.
She was still a little timid, avoiding his sharp gaze, and said softly,
“It seems that when you dislike someone, everything they do is wrong. Officer Chen, feel free to investigate, I have nothing to hide.”
After speaking, she nodded slightly and turned to leave.
Chi Yi Ran thought she had failed, but Director Su told her not to panic.
As long as she kept pestering him, even if Chen Zi Ming showed this attitude, Su Yue would eventually avoid her.
Avoidance made her feel that emotions were troublesome.
It was her usual way.
...
Su Yue had to admit that when Chen Zi Ming told her about Chi Yi Ran again, she had a very bad feeling.
It was just as she had predicted.
Chi Yi Ran had indeed become someone she couldn't avoid or escape, and couldn't ignore like Feng Jing Jing before.
Just thinking about it gave her a headache.
Not to mention running into her twice more.
So, even though she repeatedly reassured herself and promised Chen Zi Ming that she wouldn't overthink things.
She still couldn't help but feel restless.
What truly made her want to escape again was the series of events that followed.
One day in early July.
In the afternoon, a young man, who looked like he was still in college, suddenly visited the Yu Le Street Police Station.
As he entered, he glanced around sneakily. The officer at the front desk frowned and asked, "Who are you looking for?"
The boy put on a stern face and asked in a low voice, "Is Officer Chen Zi Ming here?"
"Officer Chen? He's in the interrogation room," one of the officers who came to get some documents replied casually.
The boy said "oh" and then sat down in the lobby.
When Chen Zi Ming came out after the interrogation, the boy's eyes lit up. He stood up and walked over, asking, "Officer Chen Zi Ming?"
Chen Zi Ming was a little surprised. He placed the documents in his hand on the front desk and replied, "Yes, what do you need me for?"
The boy glanced at the ring on his finger and suddenly became agitated, "Officer Chen, you have a girlfriend, so why do you still leave mementos for other girls?"
As soon as he said this, the entire lobby fell silent. Whether it was the police officers, the people reporting cases, or the suspects who had been brought in, they all froze and looked at them.
A dark expression appeared on Chen Zi Ming's face. He glanced at his surroundings, reached out, and restrained the boy who was lunging at him, "Do you know the responsibilities for assaulting a police officer and defamation?"
The officers at the front desk quickly rushed over and pulled the two apart.
The boy's eyes were red, and he completely ignored the police officers' dissuasion, his voice only growing louder:
"Are you great just because you're a police officer? Can you bully people as you please? You look decent, but you're actually hooking up with other people's girlfriends..."
"You little brat! You're causing trouble at the police station?" The officer holding him shouted in shock.
"Brother Zhao, please take him inside to sober up." Chen Zi Ming took a deep breath, a fierce glint in his eyes, but he wasn't provoked. Instead, he took a step back and quietly said something to his colleague.
"Okay, you've been interrogating people all afternoon. Go get some rest." After speaking, the two officers escorted the still agitated boy to the interrogation room.
However, the boy kept shouting, "The police are abusing their power! Abusing their power..."
After he disappeared, the people in the lobby were still whispering and pointing fingers. The front desk officers advised them, and then the commotion gradually subsided.
Chen Zi Ming remained standing in his original spot, hands on his hips, taking deep breaths to calm himself. His face, shrouded in gloom, revealed no emotion.
Lowering his gaze, he picked up his phone and walked out of the police station, dialing Chi Yi Ran's number.
"Officer Chen finally took me off the blacklist?" a delighted female voice came from the other end.
"Chi Yi Ran, someone came to the police station to cause trouble, saying I was hooking up with someone else's girlfriend."
He paused, his voice growing even deeper, "You arranged this, didn't you."
The person on the other end was stunned for a moment, then sounded somewhat angry, "Officer Chen, I understand you dislike me, but you don't need to blame me for everything dirty..."
"It's best if it wasn't you." His voice was heavy as he hung up the phone.
