The shaman in the tribe was Na Xige, the father of Gu Ba Yaer. His character was the complete opposite of his daughter's; he was a kind, upright, and excellent doctor. No one understood how his daughter, Gu Ba Yaer, could be so calculating and scheming.
After calling for the shaman Na Xige, A Mei ran to Da Ri Ga Chi's yurt to inform him.
Da Ri Ga Chi had just emerged from the basement and had not been asleep in his yurt for long when he heard A Mei's voice from outside the door.
"Khan, are you awake?" A Mei called softly from outside the yurt.
"What is it?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked, his tone somewhat annoyed.
"Princess, she is disfigured," A Mei stammered.
"Alas, what is she fussing about now?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked impatiently.
"Princess, she wasn't fussing, but her face aged overnight," A Mei said astonishingly.
Upon hearing this, Da Ri Ga Chi froze for a moment, thinking he had misheard.
"What did you just say? The princess's what aged?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked, utterly confused.
"Khan, this servant said the princess's face aged after waking up one morning," A Mei repeated what she had just said.
This time, Da Ri Ga Chi heard A Mei clearly. He shot up from the bed, put on his shoes and coat, and immediately walked out of his yurt.
"Come, take me to see what happened to the princess's face," Da Ri Ga Chi said, frowning slightly.
He then quickly walked towards Ba Mei Si's yurt, with A Mei anxiously following behind him.
A moment later, when Da Ri Ga Chi arrived at Ba Mei Si's yurt, the shaman Na Xige was already examining her.
When Da Ri Ga Chi saw his daughter had turned into an old woman, he was also startled.
"What... what is going on? Ba Mei Si, how did your face become like this?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked, full of shock.
"Abu, sob..."
"My face has become like this, how can I face anyone outside!" Ba Mei Si cried loudly upon seeing Da Ri Ga Chi again.
Seeing his daughter looking like an old woman, Da Ri Ga Chi didn't know how to comfort her. A group of people were still kneeling on the ground, some injured, some unconscious.
"Na Xige, have you found out what caused Ba Mei Si's face to change?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked anxiously.
Although Da Ri Ga Chi had slept with countless women, none had yet borne him a child. Now, approaching forty, Ba Mei Si was his only offspring.
If Ba Mei Si were to remain in this state, Da Ri Ga Chi would go mad.
"Khan, Princess Ba Mei Si has been poisoned. As for what kind of poison, I, Na Xige, cannot determine," Na Xige said, shaking his head truthfully.
Al Qi, kneeling nearby, felt a jolt in his heart upon hearing Na Xige's words. Could the medicine he put into Ba Mei Si's milk last night not be the one prescribed by Na Xige? Had Gu Ba Yaer deceived him?
"Who is usually responsible for the princess's meals?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked angrily.
"Khan, it is I!" A Mei confessed voluntarily.
"A Mei, have you ever put any medicine into the princess's food?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked A Mei with a sullen expression.
"Khan, this servant is loyal to the princess and would never betray her," A Mei vowed tremblingly.
"Then who else usually comes into contact with the princess's food?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked again.
The servants kneeling on the ground all shook their heads.
"Since no one is willing to step forward, then there is only torture.
"Guards, bring..."
Before Da Ri Ga Chi could finish speaking, Ba Mei Si immediately interrupted him.
"Abu, these maids would never betray me, please spare them. But Al Qi, can you honestly tell me where you went last night? And why were you so diligent in helping A Mei deliver my supper?" Ba Mei Si asked Al Qi, her eyes sharp.
"Princess, last night I really went to Moon Spring Lake to bathe," Al Qi continued to lie.
"Al Qi, we grew up together as childhood sweethearts. I, Ba Mei Si, know your every move very well. Your ears turn red whenever you lie. Touch your ears now and see if I am telling the truth?" Ba Mei Si said, looking at him darkly.
At her words, everyone looked at Al Qi's ears. Indeed, as Ba Mei Si had said, Al Qi's ears had turned bright red.
Al Qi knew that this matter could not be hidden for long, and he was not a person good at lying. So, in front of everyone, he recounted everything that had happened in Gu Ba Yaer's yurt the previous night, even admitting to their secret tryst.
If Ba Mei Si hadn't intervened, Da Ri Ga Chi would have been so enraged that he would have wanted to kill Al Qi on the spot.
Gu Ba Yaer's father, Na Xige, also fainted from anger on the spot. Before he lost consciousness, he mumbled, "What sin have I committed?"
"Ba Mei Si, why didn't you let Abu chop him down?" Da Ri Ga Chi asked in a chilling tone.
"Abu, Al Qi is just a fool who was manipulated. Do you think Gu Ba Yaer only had an affair with Al Qi? As far as I know, she has been intimate with many men in the tribe, but you are the only one who doesn't know and still treasures her," Ba Mei Si taunted Da Ri Ga Chi.
Upon hearing Ba Mei Si's words, Da Ri Ga Chi became even more furious.
Good heavens, Gu Ba Yaer, that wicked woman, was so disgusting. He had treated her like a treasure, but she was more repulsive than a prostitute.
"A Mei, take a few people and bring Gu Ba Yaer to me," Da Ri Ga Chi said angrily.
At this moment, he was so angry that he had set aside the matter of his daughter's disfigurement.
However, A Mei returned shortly after leaving.
"Khan, someone saw Gu Ba Yaer leaving the tribe on horseback," A Mei said, panting.
"What? That damned bitch actually ran away? This is too hateful! Guards, castrate that thing of Al Qi's!" Da Ri Ga Chi said through gritted teeth, taking his anger out on Al Qi again.
The cavalrymen who had just woken up from the basement and walked out the door, still feeling dazed, were assigned to various posts in the tribe. Stepping on clouds, they were called into Ba Mei Si's yurt by Da Ri Ga Chi.
Al Qi had already discovered the secret in Da Ri Ga Chi's basement, so he wasn't nervous at all when the cavalrymen restrained him.
Waiting for the right moment, as the cavalrymen escorted him out the door, Al Qi forcefully broke free from their grasp, used his Qinggong to sprint to the tribe's stables, untied a horse, and fled Da Ri Ga Chi's tribe.
Da Ri Ga Chi immediately ordered the cavalrymen to pursue Al Qi. After he had given the orders, he finally remembered his daughter's face.
"Ba Mei Si, don't be afraid. Abu will find the most skilled physicians in the world to cure your poison," Da Ri Ga Chi comforted Ba Mei Si.
