Chapter 178 The Child Is Gone

Su Ding opened her eyes, and the light outside the window fell on her face, with the smell of disinfectant faintly present.

She was in the hospital.

She gently moved her head, her gaze falling on her flat abdomen, and her heart tightened.

"Is anyone there?"

Su Ding's voice was hoarse and trembling as she spoke, her fingers clutching the bedsheet tightly, her heart sinking slowly.

She remembered some of the events that had happened on the way…

The woman who had taken her to the hospital had been in a car accident. The car had lost control, and she had passed out.

The child, her child…

At that moment, the door was suddenly pushed open, and Jin Ye walked in slowly.

His expression was serious, cold, and unapproachable.

Su Ding even thought that this was how they first met, when he was still the esteemed boss.

"My child…"

She looked at him with a hoarse, sorrowful voice, her eyes filled with pathetic hope.

Jin Ye remained silent.

Su Ding understood something from his face and suddenly raised her voice, "How is my child?"

"Gone."

Jin Ye walked with heavy steps, dragged a chair over, and sat down, concealing the sorrow in his eyes.

When he looked up again, he was still the cold emperor, as if announcing her fate, "The child is gone."

Su Ding's eyes widened suddenly, and she stared at him intently. "Impossible… Impossible!"

Jin Ye concealed himself well. He deliberately maintained his breathing rhythm, and even his indifferent expression was perfectly acted. Yet, his knuckles were clenched so tightly they turned white.

"The child is gone. Su Ding, I've finally caught you."

His deep, cold words were filled with profound hatred.

Su Ding's heart trembled violently. Their child, whom she had carried for so long, carefully anticipating its arrival, was now gone?

Tears rolled down her face, her eyes turning red, her facial expression contorted with anguish as her entire body tensed.

She tried hard to endure it, but the blow was too much. She cupped her face in her hands and cried silently, "My child…"

Jin Ye struggled to control himself, refraining from rushing forward to hug her.

He opened his mouth, but the vicious and harsh words he had intended to say wouldn't come out. In the end, he silently pushed the door open and left.

"Watch her. Don't let her do anything rash."

Jin Ye said softly before turning and leaving.

Luo Zhu watched the receding figure, feeling an indescribable emotion. Mr. Jin appeared very calm, but he knew how lost and pained he was when he learned that Su Ding's unborn child couldn't be saved.

Su Ding remained in the ward in a daze for three days. Jin Ye never visited, only sending people to give her food.

In truth, he didn't know how to face her.

He hated her, yet he loved her.

Her deception and all the scenes that had played out were vividly replaying in his mind. She had abandoned them, leaving him in that situation, disregarding their past affection.

He would never forgive her easily.

However, just as Jin Ye had composed himself and pushed open the door to Su Ding's ward.

She was gone.

Su Ding tore the bedsheet into strips, tied them together, and, under the cover of night when no one was paying attention, secretly slid down from the window.

The boundless night was exceptionally quiet.

She dragged her exhausted body, walking on the deserted streets.

She had no phone, no money, and didn't even know where to go, but she refused to lie in bed any longer, not even if it meant dying.

She had had enough of this life.

Ahead, a girl was holding her mother's hand, their shadows stretched long by the lamppost. Su Ding's eyes filled with tears.

Where was her Xiao Rui?

"Ding ding…"

A tentative, soft call reached her ears. Su Ding turned her head blankly.

Xin Jia'er, upon seeing it was her, ran over and hugged her arm, tears of joy streaming down her face. "Ding ding, where did you go!"

"Jia'er, Jia'er," Su Ding finally saw a friend from her past and suddenly threw herself into Xin Jia'er's embrace, her voice choked with emotion as she called her name.

Seeing Su Ding's distressed state, Xin Jia'er didn't ask further questions. She first took her to her car to go home. "We'll talk when we get home. Don't be afraid, don't be afraid."

A while ago, she had learned about the rumors between Jin Ye and Shao Lin. She was furious but felt she had no right to interfere, especially after knowing what had happened on the wedding day.

However, until she saw Su Ding, she refused to believe her good friend would do such a thing.

Now, seeing her in such a pitiful and helpless state, she felt immense heartache and just wanted to take her home.

Upon arriving at the apartment, Su Ding immediately fell asleep on the bed.

Xin Jia'er did not disturb her, merely keeping vigil by her side, accompanying her as she rested.
