Chapter 137: He Was Possessed

Chapter 137: He Was Possessed

"Hahaha! No way he did that!"

"I was shocked too! That bastard proposed to captain Freya with a straight face, he indeed has guts."

"What did she say?"

"Nothing, she threw him out the tent!"

"HAHAHAHA!"

In a military camp, a bunch of knulls laughed loudly while talking about an incident that happened 1 day ago.

Matt, a new soldier who just graduated from the Knulls Academy, confessed his love to the captain of the camp, Freya.

In Eldoria, the concept of age was much different than on earth due to the long lifespans, thus marrying a woman 30 years older than him was common so long as both of them were considered adults.

After all, they could live for hundreds of years, the difference in age wouldn’t matter that much.

But despite that, it wasn’t common for a soldier to confess his love to his captain in the first week. Of course, he failed, and the other knulls found some fun in his disaster.

"You know that he can hear us, right?" A woman asked, looking at Matt who was hugging his legs and crying on the ground.

A man shook his head: "So what if he can hear us? If he couldn’t even overcome his sadness like a true man, then how is he supposed to get a wife later? Would he give up after his first failed proposition?"

Another man looked at Matt and shouted: ’’You hear that, Matt? Just stop crying and, who knows? Maybe she will confess her love to you later! Haha—!"

*Bam!*

A woman hit his head, shutting him up: "Don’t make a joke about her! If you want to die, then die alone."

The man nodded nervously, scared that Freya might be listening to their small conversation.

Time flew by quickly, and all of a sudden, Matt started to move in the middle of night.

"Oi! Matt, where are you going at this hour?" A woman held Matt’s arm, asking him curiously and surprised by his sudden movement.

Matt looked down in shame and bit his lower lip: "I’ll apologize to captain Freya. I know I was immature back then, so I hope she forgives me."

The woman’s eyes softened as she finally left his arm and patted his back: "Cheer up! Admitting that you made a mistake is the first step to becoming a real man! You are still young, you will find a woman you truly love eventually."

Matt smiled in response and thanked her before heading to his captain’s tent. It was a large tent made of magical materials. Matt stood before it and knocked.

*Knock! Knock! Knock!*

"Come in." A soft, sweet voice came out of the other side of the door.

Matt steadied himself and opened the door, seeing the same beautiful woman who kicked him out and almost broke his bones one day ago.

She was sitting before a desk with some papers that seemed important. She tied her messy hair and removed her eyeglass as she drifted her gaze to Matt.

Matt took a deep breath and walked until he stood before her. Then he fell on his knees and lowered his head until it hit the ground.

Freya’s eyes widened in surprise as Matt spoke loudly: "The soldier number 69, Matt Serpent, apologizes from the depths of his heart for his foolishness, captain!"

Freya scratched her hair between her horns with a puzzled expression, then her eyes widened as the realization hit her:

"Is that regarding your confession? Pfft, your apology is accepted. Raise your head, Matt, I wasn’t even angry."

Matt raised his head and blinked, as if trying to understand why it was that easy. He opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, Freya continued:

"I was never angry, I could understand that it’s normal for a young man like you, but your timing was just really bad. I just got some bad news about a camp in the north. A woman there killed a man thinking that he cheated on her and took her own life, and that made me upset. If you were an hour earlier, I’d have given you a more gentle response."

Hearing her, Matt had a genuine smile on his face. He suddenly took a red flower out of his pocket and handed it to her.

Before Freya could return it, Matt spoke: "It’s just a genuine gift from me. Even if you weren’t angry, I hope you accept it, please."

Freya rested her head lazily on her hand and sniffed the flower. Feeling the light scent of the small flower, she smiled as she said: "Fine, I accept it. Just don’t go aro—!"

*Buf!*

All of a sudden, the red flower burst into a black mist. The mist didn’t wait for her to inhale it, but entered her body directly instead.

"Pois..."

*Thud!*

Before she could continue, she fell on the ground motionless, looking at Matt in shock and disbelief.

"Ah, finally. I was really getting bored here." Matt’s entire presence changed as he irritatedly cracked his neck and hands.

Matt opened his mouth, then suddenly, a hand of water came out of it and put a small key and a dagger on Matt’s hand.

"Let’s first take this off." He said as he brought the key to the bracelet Freya was wearing.

It was covering her wrist and had a small stone engraved on it, serving similar purposes to the bracelets in the main races’ kingdoms.

*Click! Click!*

Matt disabled both the bracelet on his and her hands, then looked at Freya with a thoughtful smile.

’How did he get that? Did he steal it from the higher ups? But he is supposed to be only Tier-4!’ Freya’s mind went into chaos as she could only stare at him helplessly.

Then her shock only increased when he used the dagger to cut his own wrist. Blood began to splash at an unnatural rate.

Next, he also cut Freya’s wrist and looked at the same strange effect happening again.

’This dagger effect is really worth the time. Sadly, I’ll have to leave it behind.’ As this thought echoed in his head, he fell on Freya, holding her bloody hand with his, and taking her into a hug.

Matt whispered: "Sorry, Freya. If you didn’t have a high chance to reach Tier-6, you wouldn’t have died like that."

At his words, tears began to stream down his cheeks. Then after a few minutes, Matt died forever.

Or accurately speaking, unlike the former time, this death was the last.

Immediately, blue water began to leave out of Matt’s mouth then gathered into a small blob.

’He was possessed...’ Freya thought, giving up and accepting that it was the end of her short journey.

Unless a miracle happened, she would die inevitably.

The blob kept observing Freya for a few minutes, until eventually, she followed Matt and died.

When someone came to knock on the door, the blob turned into pure mana, getting crushed by the anti-mana in the air and disappearing forever.

Similar scenes happened in multiple places in the Knulls’ domain.

Subordinates killing their leaders. Children killing their parents. Wives killing their husbands. Pets killing their owners.

All those incidents had only 3 shared aspects:

The victims were considered geniuses, a blob of water inside the murderers, and the murderers themselves would die soon after their victims.

In a room inside an inn, far away from all those events, a male knull was sitting on his bed while eating his breakfast.

From the first glance, no one would see any problem with him, but if they looked inside his mind, they would be stunned.

He was receiving a significant amount of information at the same time. He was the one responsible for all those assassination, controlling tens of corpses together and acting on each one differently.

For a skill like that, he needed an inhuman mental ability and control, which obviously, he possessed.

Not only tens, but even hundreds wouldn’t cause any problem to him. That was how capable he was.

Despite this, the most of his mind was thinking about only one thing:

’I swear if that brat touched my princess, I’ll gut him alive! No, that wouldn’t be enough, yeah, no amount of pain would be enough!’

Obviously, he was the overprotective father of the only dragongirl in Elyndra and the vice principal of the Exalted Academy, Kyle Lunaris.

He sat calmly while eating his breakfast, disguised as a knull, but his mind was in rage: ’Fuck those stupid bastards! How dare they do that?!’

After the banquet, Kyle asked Lunara to tell the government that Elyndra wasn’t safe for Selene.

He expected many responses.

Ignoring him, refusing, asking for time and even cursing him. But sending him to the demon domain? That was worse than he expected.

The worst part of this mission for him wasn’t that he had to kill tens of demons, but that he couldn’t contact his daughter, causing his worry to only increase every day.

Especially that she was now living alone with a man. When he accepted, he considered that he would let an illusion protect her all the night, but because of the sudden mission, he couldn’t even take her back into his own suite.

’Just wait until Saturday, Selly. I’ll finish this soon and visit you.’
