Chapter 896: Chapter 896: Gods Temple
"I am here to help you."
The person who entered went straight to the sofa and sat down. This scene further annoyed Owen, who was already displeased.
He looked at the unexpected guest with a sneer, "You’re here to help me?"
"What a joke. Do you know who I am? What qualifies you to say you’re helping me?"
"Is this enough?"
The unexpected guest pulled out a medal. Owen frowned slightly at it, while the butler’s expression changed subtly.
"Hmph, who are you trying to fool with that medal? Do you think I’ve never seen one before?"
The unexpected guest leaned back on the sofa with his legs crossed, squinting at Owen, "You really are ignorant, but your butler should know what this medal represents."
Owen furrowed his brows.
The butler quickly bowed his head to explain to Owen, "Young master, this is a Medieval Knight Medal. During the Medieval period, there were three major Knight Orders...!"
"I know about that, the three major Knight Orders: the Teutonic Order, the Knights Hospitaller, and the Temple Knights. But now they’ve long become history, with only the Knights Hospitaller still existing in name only."
"Moreover, it’s certainly not the Medieval period anymore, and the class of knights has vanished, hasn’t it?"
Owen wouldn’t be unfamiliar with the history of the Southern Federation. The three major Knight Orders were once formidable, with even the kings having to bow to them, but over the years, they had become nothing but a bygone tale.
You don’t understand.
The butler looked at Owen and continued, "Master Owen, I’m not talking about history. The three major Knight Orders may be a thing of the past, but the spirit of the knights has not faded, and this medal no longer represents the three major Knight Orders."
"Hmm?"
Owen looked up at the butler, who took a deep breath and said, "This Knight Medal now represents the Gods Temple."
"Gods Temple?"
"Yes, young master, just know that the power of the Gods Temple on the Southern Federation mainland rivals that of the three major Knight Orders in their day. However, the Gods Temple is secretive and rarely shows itself, so you might not be aware of it."
"But the Gods Temple is a force that even the royal families would not offend lightly."
The butler added a word of caution in the back of his mind, fearing that the young master might act on his inherent arrogance and offend the other party. After all, the Gods Temple was not an entity to provoke. Not to mention that Owen was just one of the heirs of the Oppenheimer family; even if he became the clan leader, he would still be an ant in front of the Gods Temple.
Upon hearing this, Owen also became more cautious, looking up at the unexpected guest opposite him.
"You said earlier you were here to help me."
"Why would you help me?"
Owen was puzzled. He clearly had no connection with the Gods Temple, yet here they were, offering help. It was hard not to be suspicious of their motives.
"Let me introduce myself, I’m Kevin Water, you can call me Kevin."
"I’m here because I caught a person’s scent."
"Hmm?"
Owen looked at Kevin across from him, "A person’s scent?"
Kevin directly pulled out a stack of photos from his body and threw them on the table. Owen picked up a photo and glanced at it.
"Oh, I know this person."
"I had a brief encounter with him in the restaurant at the hotel, but this face is not his real one. He is actually from Yan Country, a son-in-law who leeches off others."
"Did he save that bitch? I should have known these two were in cahoots, it was all their doing."
Owen had a sudden realization. It seemed like the diamond theft involved not just Annie, but also this son-in-law as an accomplice.
Kevin watched Owen grind his teeth and chuckled lightly, "A son-in-law, a man living off his wife?"
"If that’s all you think of him, it’s no wonder you’re being played like a puppet."
"What do you mean by that?"
Hearing the other’s disdainful words, Owen’s inherent pride couldn’t take it, and he directly glared at Kevin.
Kevin looked at Owen, "I mean exactly what I said."
"Sir, since you intend to help us, please get to the point."
At this point, the butler interjected.
Kevin glanced at the old butler, aware that Southern Federation noble butlers were never just mere butlers.
"The point is that the son-in-law you mentioned is not simple. He has another identity, and that is the Lord of the Dragon King Hall, the Dragon King."
"Hmm?"
"What, he’s the Dragon King of Dragon King Hall?"
The old butler was stunned.
Owen blinked at the old butler, "The Dragon King of Dragon King Hall?"
"In the Dark World, there are three major forces: the Gods Temple, the Hand of God, and the Dragon King Hall. These three powers control over seventy percent of the Dark World’s trade. Not only do they have immense power, but they also possess wealth comparable to a nation."
"No wonder he possesses double-digit black gold five-stars. With his identity, he certainly warrants that privilege."
The old butler was a bit pale. This was the Dragon King, a being that could rival the Hand of God and the Gods Temple.
No wonder K Company crumbled like a dirt wall in front of him, defeated in one fell swoop.
Owen gulped, realizing that what Annie said in the hotel restaurant about this man not being someone to offend wasn’t said casually.
"So what do we do now? He bought the diamond, then stole it, and now he’s even crying out for us to hand over the diamond."
Owen was almost in tears, discovering there truly were such shameless people in the world.
"You said just now you’d help me. How are you going to help?" Owen seemed to grasp at a lifeline, looking at Kevin opposite him.
"It’s possible for Gods Temple to handle him, but it’ll cost you something, given that fighting him will mean no small losses for us."
"How much do you want?"
Owen looked across the table.
"One billion Federation Coin."
"One billion Federation Coin?"
Owen gasped. Damn, demanding a billion like it was cabbage money—besides, how could dealing with one person cost so much?
If he were willing to spend ten million Federation Coin, he could hire the entire K Company, and another ten million would get him more mercenaries.
A billion—did they take him for a fool?
Kevin seemed to sense Owen’s thoughts but remained unfazed, "Consider whether to pay that sum, but don’t blame me for not warning you. You’ve already caught his eye, and as far as I know, those he targets don’t end well."
"Oh, by the way, here’s a tidbit: the last person he targeted was from the Isa family, where your goddess resides."
