Chapter 19: Restocked

Chapter 19: Restocked

Timothy sat back in his container office, the drawer where Roland’s Fortuner payment once sat now replaced with neat receipts from BDO. Over ₱7.7 million capital lay waiting in his account, and he wasn’t about to let it sit idle.

The first batch had proven his concept. Now it was time to scale.

He cracked his knuckles, opened his laptop, and dove into Facebook Marketplace again. This time, he filtered for 2020–2024 models only.

"Go newer, go bolder," he muttered. "People will pay premium if they see the latest plates."

The listings didn’t disappoint.

2020 Toyota Hilux 2.4 G Diesel (Attitude Black) – ₱350,000

Condition: Flooded during Typhoon Ulysses, dead engine, moldy interior.

The photos showed a once-proud black pickup half-submerged in someone’s driveway. The seller admitted he just wanted it gone, tired of repair shops quoting ₱700k for an engine and wiring replacement.

Timothy’s lips curled. "₱350,000 cash. Tow truck tomorrow."

2021 Toyota Innova 2.8 G Diesel (Thermalite Gray) – ₱420,000

Condition: Transmission slipping, check engine light, flood exposure.

Families swore by Innovas, and Timothy knew once refurbished, this would be an easy sell. The owner had already bought a replacement unit and wanted the headache out of his garage.

2022 Honda Civic RS Turbo 1.5 (Rallye Red) – ₱500,000

Condition: ECU fried, dashboard dead, water damage on carpets.

The seller sounded desperate. "Bro, casa quoted me ₱400k just for the ECU and wiring harness. That’s not even fixing the rest."

Timothy chuckled. "Cash. ₱500,000. I’ll pick it up this week."

2020 Honda CR-V 2.0 S (Modern Steel Metallic) – ₱400,000

Condition: Engine stalling, ABS and airbag lights flashing, flood history.

The SUV sat ugly in pictures, streaked with mud stains inside. But he saw past it. With reconstruction, it would be showroom-ready.

2021 Mitsubishi Montero Sport GLS 2.4 Diesel (Sterling Silver) – ₱650,000

Condition: Flooded, transmission limp mode, interior reeking of mold.

This one had multiple watchers, but none had the guts to gamble that much on a flood unit. Timothy had no fear.

2022 Toyota Fortuner V 2.8 Diesel (Platinum White Pearl) – ₱750,000

Condition: Turbo issues, electronics fried by water seepage.

He remembered the success of his first Fortuner. This one was newer, sleeker, and white pearl—families loved that.

Timothy leaned back, satisfied so far. But he wanted halo cars too. Something to cement Flawless Auto Resale’s reputation.

Scrolling deeper, three listings made his breath hitch.

2021 Toyota Camry 2.5 G (Attitude Black Mica) – ₱600,000

Condition: Flooded, hybrid battery error, interior carpets ruined.

Luxury sedan appeal. Once reconstructed, it would be irresistible to executives.

2020 BMW Z4 Roadster (Misano Blue Metallic) – ₱1,200,000

Condition: Floodwater up to the seats, ECU dead, soft top moldy.

Most people wouldn’t even touch it. Timothy grinned. Once his System restored it, this convertible would sell itself.

2022 Lexus RX 350 (Sonic Titanium) – ₱1,500,000

Condition: Severe flood damage, electrical system fried, interior mold infestation.

The ad looked tragic—leather warped, dashboard lights flickering—but Timothy could already picture it reborn.

By the end of his scouting spree, his notebook looked like a treasure map.

The following weeks were a blur of tow trucks.

Every few days, another truck rumbled through Tondo’s narrow streets, neighbors whispering as they watched luxury wrecks roll through the iron gate. The Hilux came first, still smelling like stagnant river water. The Montero followed, streaked with brown tide lines across its doors. The Z4 drew the loudest gasps—"Who the hell brings a BMW convertible to Tondo?"

Timothy ignored the chatter. He stood in the lot, arms crossed, watching as each ruined vehicle took its place beneath the scaffolding.

Hilux. Innova. Civic. CR-V. Montero. Fortuner. Camry. Z4. Lexus RX.

Nine cars in total. Each one a husk, written off by their owners. Each one a jackpot waiting for his touch.

Inside his container office, Timothy flipped open his ledger again, tapping the pen against the table.

"First batch gave me ₱7.7M. This batch..." He smirked. "This batch could push me past ₱20 million."

He slid the notebook shut, stepping out into the humid Manila night. The faint stink of flood damage hung in the air, but Timothy only smelled profit.

Tomorrow, the reconstructions would begin.
