Chapter 60 Injection

Chapter 60: Chapter 60 Injection

Leonardo, who had just returned, was walking through the hallway when he heard the soft sound of laughter drifting from Isabella’s room. At first, he thought he misheard but the light, cheerful giggles continued, and something about it made his steps pause.

His face instantly turned cold.

The private doctor walking beside him felt the shift in air. The warmth in the corridor disappeared like it never existed. A chill crawled up the doctor’s spine as he glanced nervously at Leonardo, whose sharp jaw clenched tightly, eyes darkening with unreadable emotion.

Leonardo didn’t say a word. He simply pushed the door open.

Inside, Isabella was sitting up on bed, her face glowing with joy as she teased Jay, who was laughing along like a little kid. Their fingers were still tangled in a pinky promise, and the tray of untouched fruits sat between them.

The moment Isabella saw him, her smile dropped.

She looked like she’d been caught doing something wrong. Her back stiffened, and her hand slowly pulled away from Jay’s, eyes dropping to her lap as if she had to hide. Like he wasn’t her husband. Like he was... a threat.

Jay noticed the shift too. He looked over his shoulder and greeted him casually, "Oh hey, bro—"

But Leonardo said nothing. His eyes were on her only. That flicker of fear on her face. That shrinking body language.

It wasn’t anger that filled his chest in that moment.

It was something colder. And it hurt more.

He stepped further in, his expression unreadable, while the warmth that had filled the room just seconds ago... faded completely.

"Doctor is here, give him space, Jay," Leonardo said, his voice flat like an emotionless robot. Not a trace of warmth, not even irritation... just empty calm, the kind that made people more nervous than actual yelling.

Jay blinked at him, then at Isabella, then grinned slowly as he stood up from the edge of the bed.

"Of course, sir," he said dramatically, hands raised as if surrendering. "I was just leaving anyway."

But inside, Jay was screaming in laughter.

Oh, he could smell something burning.

Someone was jealous.

He gave Isabella a wink behind Leonardo’s back before whispering, "See you later, Big Brain."

And he strolled out of the room, whistling.

The doctor, still slightly stiff under Leonardo’s icy presence, stepped forward to check Isabella. Meanwhile, she kept her gaze low, not daring to meet Leonardo’s eyes... even though she could feel his stare like fire on her skin.

"Make sure your wound doesn’t touch water and keep changing the bandage regularly. And don’t move around much..." the doctor reminded, his tone kind but firm as he checked Isabella’s right arm gently.

Isabella sat obediently, her long lashes blinking slowly as she nodded. "Okay..."

"Do you still feel pain?" he asked again while checking the edge of the bandage.

She hesitated for a second before nodding honestly. "A little bit."

The doctor gave her a quick glance and then turned to the small medical box. "I’ve prepared an injection for you. It’ll help ease the pain faster."

At that moment, Isabella’s eyes widened.

Her back straightened instantly like a scared kitten, and her gaze locked onto the shiny silver needle in the doctor’s hand. Her heart skipped a beat.

She wasn’t afraid of pain—but injections? That sharp thing?

"No..." she whispered softly like a plea, clutching her blanket.

Leonardo, who was quietly watching from the side with arms crossed, raised one eyebrow. He noticed her whole expression change the moment she saw the needle.

He almost let out a laugh, but his face remained still. Only his eyes twitched a little, amused.

"Ma’am, it’s just a small injection," the doctor reassured.

But Isabella was already scooting back on the bed like a turtle retreating into its shell.

"It’s sharp..." she mumbled, eyes still stuck on the syringe like it was a weapon of doom.

Leonardo sighed. "You can face a sniper but not a needle?"

Isabella looked at him with a with scared expression then..

"This is different!" she said seriously, "Sniper is far away... injection is so close..."

However, the moment her gaze met Leonardo’s cold, unreadable expression with arms still crossed, face still emotionless. Isabella’s little courage melted like sugar in hot tea.

She slowly looked away, her lips pressed together tightly.

Without saying another word, she gave in.

With a small nod to the doctor, she turned her face to the side, closed her eyes tightly, and gripped the blanket like it was her last lifeline.

The doctor smiled softly, understanding her nervousness. "It’ll just sting for a second..."

And with that, the needle went in.

Isabella’s body flinched slightly, but she stayed silent. No whimper, no sound. Just her eyelashes trembling and her breath caught in her throat.

Leonardo watched her quietly, the room falling into a strange kind of stillness. Even he didn’t expect her to just shut up and bear it without a fuss.

The doctor removed the needle gently and placed a cotton swab on the spot.

"You’re done," he said kindly.

Isabella slowly opened her eyes, her face pale, but she gave a small relieved sigh like she had just survived a battlefield.

She didn’t look at Leonardo again. Just pulled the blanket up to her chest and stayed quiet, like a little bunny trying to pretend it didn’t exist.

And Leonardo didn’t say anything either. He just looked at her for a few seconds longer, then turned around and walked away.

Leonardo walked to his office, his steps heavy, his face as cold as ice.

As he opened the door, Jay was already inside, sitting casually on the couch, scrolling through his phone. He looked up and smiled.

"Bro—"

SMACK!

Before he could finish his sentence, Leonardo’s fist slammed straight into Jay’s face.

Jay stumbled and fell down to the floor with a loud thud, holding his cheek in shock. "BRO! WHAT THE HELL?! WHY DID YOU DO THAT?" he shouted, looking up with wide, angry eyes.

Leonardo stood tall, his face emotionless like a robot. "You’ve become weak. Go back to training," he said, like it was a normal thing to punch your brother.

Jay’s mouth hung open, shocked. "Seriously?! You punch me like that and then lecture me like some teacher?!"
