<spantext-decoration:" underline;"=""> back, Ning Chu had actually been quite popular back in kindergarten and elementary school.
The toys gifted by classmates once filled a small box, which was still lying in the corner of the storage room. But every time she brought toys home, she’d get a lecture from her mother.
As for Black Bean, she wasn’t particularly interested in snacks. What she truly enjoyed was the attention that came with receiving them. Most of the snacks she got ended up being given away to her classmates… What she really loved was meat. Those breads, candies, and puffy junk food didn’t interest her at all.
Standing outside the tutoring center, peeking through the window to observe Black Bean's behavior, Ning Chu couldn’t help but think something was seriously wrong with her mother’s parenting methods.
If this keeps up, she’s going to end up being abducted!
Randomly eating snacks from strangers like that was the perfect setup for being kidnapped!
Ning Chu fretted, trying to come up with a solution for the problem at hand, but then a sudden thought popped into her mind:When Black Bean turns fifteen or sixteen, and the boys around her start hitting puberty... with how popular she already is, wouldn’t her suitors line up around the block?
The mere thought that Black Bean might one day be “taken” by some random guy filled her with a strange surge of possessiveness. She suddenly had the urge to beat up every boy who so much as looked at Black Bean.
“Is this... what my brother feels when he looks at me and Wen Yang?”
“Maybe it’s a little weaker for him? I did only recently turn into a girl.”
Muttering to herself, Ning Chu left the tutoring center and flagged down a passing taxi on the roadside. She was heading to Wen Yang’s place in the city outskirts.
About half an hour later, she arrived at the door of Wen Yang’s rental apartment.
Wanting to surprise him, she didn’t say a word. Quietly, she took out the spare key to the unit and carefully opened the door.
She peeked in—empty.
“Ugh!”
He’d already left the house that early in the morning without telling her?
Not even a simple “good morning”?
She had assumed he was still sleeping!
Like it was her own home, Ning Chu kicked off her shoes and socks on the doormat, shut the door, then sprawled out comfortably on the bed. After getting settled, she sent Wen Yang a message to ask where he was.
"It’s only a bit past nine. Where’d you run off to?"
Wen Yang replied almost instantly.
“Getting breakfast, and looking for a job. I’ll be back soon.”
Ning Chu replied with a little emoji—one that said "gonna bite you!"—then got up and pulled out the clothing bag she’d brought with her. From it, she stuffed a couple of outfits into the nightstand drawer: two sets of light homewear and two sets of underwear.
She was preparing for the possibility of staying overnight at Wen Yang’s place, and wanted to have her own pajamas ready. Also, if she showered and changed clothes before interacting with him, she wouldn’t risk dirtying her own clothes—avoiding any traces that could get her questioned by her mother later.
After waiting for about twenty minutes, the door finally opened.
Ning Chu looked up to see Wen Yang returning with a cheerful expression. The moment their eyes met, he couldn’t wait to share his good news.
“I already found a job.”
“That fast?”
“Yeah,” Wen Yang said as he sat at the edge of the bed, grinning. “Probably ‘cause I look good. Handsome sells, right?”
Ning Chu rolled her eyes. She agreed that his looks were above average, but still couldn’t help but scoff instinctively. “Tch, yeah right.”
“What kind of job? What’s the pay?”
“Server at a high-end hotel. I start tomorrow. Pay’s 4,500 a month, but I don’t get time off during Chinese New Year.”
Even though they were in a provincial capital, most server jobs only paid a bit over 3,000. Wen Yang’s salary was actually quite decent.
At least better than many fresh college graduates... Before transmigrating, Ning Chu’s internship interviews often only offered around 3,500.
“What about the hours?”
“It’s shift work. Late shift is from 3 PM to 11 PM.”
“That’s not bad~”
Now that Wen Yang had landed a job, it felt like his winter break was starting to fall into place.
Still, Ning Chu couldn’t help feeling a little uneasy. Jobs in customer service meant interacting with tons of people... and that made it way too easy to trigger some weird story plot.
But those story events were inevitable. Even if they weren’t triggered right away, they were always lurking—it was only a matter of time.
Feeling a little uneasy, Ning Chu reminded him, “Don’t go flirting with girls while you’re at work, okay~?”
Wen Yang raised an eyebrow. “Do I look like that kind of guy?”
“Well… no…”
But what really worried her was that Wen Yang might not know how to handle some of those plot developments.
Worse, if the story derailed, she might end up getting embarrassed in front of their families.
After thinking for a moment, Ning Chu offered a suggestion.
“How about I come to your place to write while you’re at work?”
Hiding out in Wen Yang’s rental while writing meant even if she got “punished,” she could take care of it herself. Besides, Wen Yang had secretly brought over a couple of toys.
The only real issue was the poor soundproofing—she’d have to be careful not to make any suspicious noises.
“Black Bean’s super rowdy, and my mom’s always yelling at me to do this or that. I just can’t focus at home, and that’s why I’ve barely updated the novel lately.”
Wen Yang, who was actively reading her web novel, had noticed the lack of updates.
Every time he read about the protagonist sinking step-by-step into feminine temptation, caught between resistance and submission, those vividly described internal struggles stirred something in him.
It was basically Ning Chu’s autobiography.
The way she described the descent into femininity was just her own internal monologue, made into fiction.
And that made it all the more thrilling—it gave him an even stronger urge to mess with her.
“You’re not still reading my novel, are you?”
Ning Chu narrowed her eyes. She caught a strange flicker in his gaze—a fiery, almost mischievous gleam.
“Nope. Definitely not.”
“Hand me your phone. I’m checking!”
Like a cat pouncing, Ning Chu darted forward, shoving her hand straight into Wen Yang’s pocket—And froze.
Her face flushed red in an instant.
Oh no.
Wrong pocket.
Why is it so… deep?!
Oh my god. It’s huge!
Wen Yang’s expression was unreadable. He pulled his phone calmly from the other pocket.
“I feel like… you might’ve done that on purpose.”
“No, I didn’t!”
“It’s not like it’s your first time touching it. Last night you were—”
“Shut up!!”
Grabbing the phone, Ning Chu bolted to the other side of the bed, bright red and flustered.
He’s getting bolder by the day!
He never used to tease her like this!
“We’re going out shopping later. Deal with your… situation before then,” she muttered, cheeks still burning, as she started going through his phone.
Wen Yang sighed and swapped his jacket for a longer trench coat—something that would hide any visible excitement.
He also opened a window to let out the heady, seductive scent that seemed to linger in the room thanks to this little succubus of a girl.
A few minutes later, Ning Chu finished scrolling through his phone and set it down.
“You really haven’t been reading my novel.”
“You told me not to, so I stopped. I’m a man of my word,” Wen Yang replied, puffing his chest out proudly.
Ning Chu narrowed her eyes. She still had her doubts—but with no evidence, she let it slide.
Climbing out of bed, she slipped back into her shoes and socks.
“Let’s go. Let’s enjoy our time while you still have the free time. Once you start working, we won’t be able to hang out like this.”
“Alright.”
“I’ll message my mom and let her know I’ll be back tonight.”
