Lin Yan wasn't much of a cook, but she could heat up milk and toast bread.
She took the toast from the refrigerator and put it in the toaster, then warmed a glass of milk for herself.
As she was eating breakfast, Yue Yue slowly came downstairs, rubbing her sleepy eyes. Seeing Lin Yan eating breakfast, she came to her senses.
"Yan Yan, you're already up? Why didn't you wake me?" she said, yawning again.
"I slept a bit more yesterday, so I woke up a little earlier this morning."
"Why are you only eating this for breakfast? I'll go fry an egg for you," Yue Yue said immediately upon seeing the two slices of whole wheat toast and a glass of milk on Lin Yan's plate.
"No need, this is enough. Just prepare your own."
After Yue Yue spoke, she headed to the kitchen, seemingly to start preparing breakfast. Ever since they met, Yue Yue had maintained a persona of being considerate, whether it was caring for the original host and others, or proactively taking on household chores.
Lin Yan didn't know if they had always interacted this way, but she felt Yue Yue's position among their group seemed somewhat like that of a follower.
Soon, the sound of running water came from the kitchen. Yue Yue seemed to say something in the kitchen, but the sound of the water was too loud for Lin Yan to hear clearly.
She put down her milk glass and walked towards the kitchen.
"Were you calling me just now?"
"Yan Yan, could you go wake them up? I'll prepare breakfast," Yue Yue said, seemingly a little embarrassed to trouble Lin Yan.
"Okay, but after I finish breakfast."
"Sorry, I didn't realize you hadn't finished yet."
"It's fine," Lin Yan turned back to the dining table.
"Host, is she being passive-aggressive towards you?"
"Yes, she's never liked me, has she?"
After Lin Yan finished her breakfast and sat for a while, she slowly went upstairs to wake people up.
She already knew the layout of the second floor from last night and this morning, so she went up to the third floor first.
There were quite a few rooms on the third floor. She remembered the flowers on the keys those people had taken last night. The couple lived in the begonia room, Da B lived in the iris room, and Jing Zi lived in the plum blossom room.
Lin Yan didn't rush to wake them up. Instead, she walked down the corridor on the third floor, familiarizing herself with the layout of the floor, and calculating in her mind as she walked.
After walking through the entire third floor, she stopped at Jing Zi's door and knocked three times.
When everyone was seated at the dining table, Yue Yue brought the breakfast she had prepared to the table.
Lin Yan sat on the sofa in the living room, took out her phone, and pretended to be looking at messages, but in reality, she was communicating with the system.
"Yue Yue, thank you for your hard work."
"Yes, Yue Yue, you're so virtuous."
Everyone praised Yue Yue's thoughtfulness, which she clearly enjoyed.
"Where are we going after we finish eating?"
"Let's go explore the mountains. There are some wild rabbits here that can be hunted. We can bring tools and set some traps later."
"You know how to set traps?" Ah Ming asked in surprise upon hearing Jing Zi.
"I studied wilderness survival for a while," Jing Zi said modestly. Ever since he knew they were coming here, he had researched the area. Knowing that hunting was possible, he became very excited.
"It's a shame we can't use hunting rifles. They're too strictly controlled in China," A Rui also complained.
"Yeah, firearms and ammunition are really tight. I even got a gun license abroad," A B chimed in with a complaint.
"I know a private shooting range. How about we arrange to go shooting when we get back?" Li Yi Ze said, then his gaze shifted towards Lin Yan.
"I've never even touched a gun before," Yue Yue said enviously. "A Ze, you must take me with you then."
"Of course, I'll definitely invite you," he replied, then looked in Lin Yan's direction again. "Lin Yan, do you want to come along?"
"I'll pass. I probably can't handle the recoil of firearms, but I can come cheer you on," Lin Yan said, putting down her phone.
She didn't believe these people would still be in the mood to go to a shooting range after they left this place.
