Chapter 407 The Sacrificed Genius of the Profound Sect (39)

The man prepared to leave after Lin Yan said she had called the police. His accomplices, hidden in the crowd, had already quietly departed.

However, Lin Yan wasn't concerned, as she had already placed a tracking charm on him. No matter where he went, she could find them.

Lin Yan waved her hand in front of his eyes, and a figure appeared in his vision. Upon seeing the somewhat familiar face and ragged clothes, his pupils constricted sharply.

He remembered this face; she was someone he had sold before. But her resistance had been too fierce, and she had even incited others to escape.

They had beaten her then. They were so angry that they had been a little heavy-handed. They really hadn't intended to kill her, just to teach her a lesson. Who could have imagined she would die like that?

Now, that woman was floating beside him, pointing at him and accusing him of being a human trafficker, while also revealing where his accomplices were.

Was this... a ghost?

Once he realized, he let out a scream, "Ghost, there's a ghost!" and tried to run in the other direction.

"He's trying to escape, everyone stop him! We can't let him get away, they took several children too, quickly stop him!"

The female ghost was anxious. She couldn't let him escape. There were still several children in his house; if he got away, those children wouldn't be able to go home.

"You won't get away," Lin Yan flicked her fingers.

The next moment, the man's knees buckled, and he fell directly to the ground.

The surrounding people now realized that this man was definitely not the girl's relative. They had almost done them a disservice, and quickly stepped forward to surround the man, preventing him from escaping.

The police also arrived with his accomplices in tow. Seeing his captured accomplices, the man realized he couldn't escape and pulled a weapon from his pocket, preparing to take hostages.

Lin Yan stepped forward and kicked his wrist, sending the fruit knife flying out of his hand.

The police officers behind them immediately moved in and subdued the man.

The red-haired girl, witnessing this series of events, fearfully ran behind Lin Yan and continued to cling to her clothes.

She was filled with lingering fear, unable to imagine what awaited her if this man had taken her away.

"Th-thank you, classmate," she whispered. Her usual arrogant demeanor was completely gone, replaced by a timid gratitude on her made-up face.

"Don't be afraid, the bad guys have been taken by the police. You don't need to worry. Contact your parents, we'll probably need to go to the police station to give a statement soon," Lin Yan said, turning and holding the red-haired girl's hand.

While comforting the girl, Lin Yan didn't neglect the female ghost. After seeing the man apprehended by the police, her resentment had lessened somewhat.

If it weren't for the children who still needed to be rescued, she might have been able to move on to reincarnation.

This was a very kind girl, who, despite being drenched by the rain herself, wanted to offer shelter to others.

Lin Yan couldn't bear for her to simply disappear from this world. Her name deserved to be known by others.

Lin Yan accompanied the red-haired girl to the police station to give her statement, staying until her mother arrived.

The girl's name was Yang Xin Yu, a very poetic name. She wasn't a bad person, just a bit ostentatious.

Despite her exaggerated red hair and heavy makeup, when facing her mother, she was clearly a devoted daughter.

Upon learning the full story, the girl's mother was terrified. So many people went missing every year, and she couldn't imagine those news stories happening to her own daughter.

Her husband had passed away early, and she had raised her two children alone. Her children were her life.

She repeatedly thanked Lin Yan and the police. After she took Yang Xin Yu away, Lin Yan presented her identification.

"Um, I also want to report a case."

Lin Yan held out her identification from the Special Events Handling Bureau. Those people would surely conceal their crimes, and she had to ensure the female ghost's case received justice.

Lin Yan had gone straight to the police station on her first day in the city. Although she presented her identification, being underage, she was met with disbelief from the police.

She had come to study on her own and had no guardian in the city. Out of options, Lin Yan had to contact the local Special Events Handling Bureau.

Once everything was sorted out, Lin Yan and the local police arranged a time to find the female ghost's body.

Although the police thought it might be too much for a young girl like Lin Yan, with the guarantee from the Special Events Bureau, they still allowed her to participate.

As soon as Lin Yan exited the police station, she saw the female ghost squatting in the shadows. Her resentment was very faint, and a milky white halo surrounded her soul.

Lin Yan walked directly towards her. "Are you okay?"

"You're out," the female ghost looked up at Lin Yan. "Were those people caught? I don't know why, but the sun is so strong now, it feels so hot on the skin."

Lin Yan didn't tell her that she was already dead. "Where do you want to go now? I can take you."

Lin Yan handed her a Yin Gathering Charm. Seeing her form solidify slightly, she extended her hand to her.

"I don't know where I want to go. I seem to have forgotten many things." She placed her hand in Lin Yan's, and was then pulled up by Lin Yan.

"Is there anything you want to do?" Lin Yan was very patient with her.

"I want to see the sea. I've never seen it my whole life. I think I've heard people say it's incredibly vast and beautiful. The sand feels comfortable to walk on, and there are shells to pick up," she said with longing on her face.

"Then I'll take you to see it."

"Oh, but maybe not. It's not safe for you to go out. There are so many bad people outside. It's better not to go," she quickly refused.

This girl in front of her was so kind; she couldn't encounter any danger.

"It's okay, don't worry. I'm very capable. That person earlier couldn't hurt me, right?"

A car pulled up and stopped beside them. The driver's window rolled down, revealing the face of the Special Events Bureau colleague who had come to pick up Lin Yan.

"The car to pick me up is here. Come with me," Lin Yan said to her with a smile. Her smile was incredibly warm, making one want to accompany her.

"Okay," she nodded, preparing to leave with Lin Yan. Just as she was about to step out from under the shade of the trees, Lin Yan held up an umbrella, shielding her head.

"The sun is too strong. Let's use an umbrella, it would be bad if you got tanned," Lin Yan explained with a smile.
