"You're going to rest already? Aren't you going to gather some intel?" Ophélie blinked in surprise, responding.
Lin Feng shrugged indifferently, then casually gestured at the figures in black cloaks on the street.
"What's there to gather? No offense to anyone, but look at these weaklings. Which one of them could withstand a single kick from me?"
"Speaking of which, don't tell me there's no place to stay here!"
Ophélie's mouth hung open, but no words came out.
He was so right, it seemed there truly was no one who could withstand a single kick from him…
Seeing this, Ophélie saw no point in saying more and handed Lin Feng a room card.
"Your accommodation is in the tallest building not far from the street corner…"
Rest was good, rest was good.
With Lin Feng here, she would have to be extra careful with selling her intel from now on.
Lin Feng took the card, glanced at it, and slipped it into his pocket.
"Hmm, nice."
He had half expected to have to rough it and pitch a tent, but their logistics were surprisingly decent.
He let out a whistle, hands shoved in his pockets, and walked away with an air of supreme confidence, his steps growing distant.
Behind him, Ophélie watched him go with keen eyes.
"It looks like you're pretty much guaranteed to make it into the top ten now," Aglaé commented, her gaze still fixed on Lin Feng's retreating back with an undisguised curiosity.
This was the first time Aglaé had shown such high interest in someone in a black cloak.
"We probably are. He promised me he'd give me any excess points he has," Ophélie said, rubbing her hands together, a hint of excitement on her face.
With those two kicks from Lin Feng, wouldn't getting into the top ten be as easy as drinking water?
She had been worried after losing a teammate.
But now, it seemed that having a third teammate or not made absolutely no difference!
Lin Feng had delivered those two kicks so effortlessly. Ophélie couldn't even begin to fathom the true extent of his strength.
"It's good that we're guaranteed. That way, we can see each other often!" Aglaé smiled sweetly at Ophélie, also pleased.
Within the black cloaks, making friends was difficult, let alone not being backstabbed.
Ophélie was Aglaé's closest confidante.
Yet, Aglaé still maintained a degree of caution towards Ophélie.
Despite her seemingly naive and unintelligent demeanor, Aglaé couldn't help but admire her skill in gathering intelligence.
The ability to acquire such information proved that Ophélie was far more than she appeared.
If Lin Feng knew her thoughts, he would surely have a thing or two to say.
She *was* slow-witted, and her intel relied entirely on her extraordinary eyes.
Without those eyes, she would probably have been dead long ago!
"Enough about him, let's exchange some more intel!" Ophélie retracted her gaze.
Her eyes were exceptional, but she was also incredibly cautious, never arrogant enough to claim there was no information she couldn't obtain.
…
While the two women exchanged and sold information, Lin Feng had already arrived at his lodging.
The place was deserted, with hardly anyone around.
But that wasn't surprising.
It was broad daylight, and everyone was out gathering the intel they needed and purchasing the items they desired.
Those who, like Lin Feng, sought rest so early were either powerful experts who didn't need anything from outside,
or they were utterly confident weaklings. However, the term "weakling" was only relative to Lin Feng.
The significant commotion Lin Feng had caused outside earlier had its benefits.
At least no one dared to approach and cause him trouble.
He walked up to the third floor, swiped his room card, and entered the room.
He examined the decor and nodded with satisfaction.
"It's alright, quite luxurious, and the soundproofing is good."
At least here, he couldn't hear the noise from the street outside.
Inside the room, there were three identical bedrooms, standard accommodation for a three-person team.
Lin Feng's team was already missing one member.
He casually picked a room, shed his black cloak, and flopped onto the bed.
"Hoo…"
He let out a sigh of relief, lying on the bed with his hands behind his head, squinting at the ceiling and spacing out.
In his mind, however, he was contemplating the bosses of the First Sequence.
When Aaron had mentioned earlier that there were First Sequence big shots watching from above, Lin Feng hadn't used his Super Senses to probe.
These individuals were ancient monsters who had likely lived for countless years, and they probably possessed an array of peculiar artifacts.
Therefore, Lin Feng felt it was better to play it safe, at least not to alert them.
Having come this far, Lin Feng had finally made direct contact with the bosses of the First Sequence.
The selection, the core mission, the more generous resources, and the First Sequence bosses.
Information flashed through Lin Feng's mind.
The First Sequence, was it finally about to have its veil lifted…
If things proceeded normally, the black cloak phase was also nearing its conclusion.
Lin Feng hadn't yet combined the fragments of the Heart of the Universe he held.
With this item, coupled with his own abilities, he had the foundation to challenge the First Sequence.
However, the First Sequence wasn't just one person, and some things still required careful planning.
Currently, information was still lacking.
He hoped that the upcoming auxiliary team would bring him some surprises.
Lost in thought, Lin Feng remembered Aaron from earlier.
Aaron.Aigar.
Aigar was at odds with the Golden Silver Tree, even engaging in conflict whenever they met.
However, Lin Feng had not sensed any hostility from Aaron just now.
Instead, it felt as though there was a deliberate display of goodwill.
He hadn't had the time to ponder it carefully then.
Now that he thought about it, there might be some information worth dissecting.
Given the situation earlier, Aaron's appearance and his words seemed more like he was trying to extricate him from a difficult spot.
Could it be that Aigar wanted to recruit him?
Lin Feng stroked his chin, deeming it not impossible.
His time with the Golden Silver Tree, strictly speaking, was not that long.
And the strength he had deliberately displayed, who wouldn't want to recruit such a person for their own use?
If that were the case, Aaron's actions would make perfect sense.
As for those seemingly threatening words, they were, in reality, a warning, cautioning Lin Feng not to go too far.
Interesting!
A slow smile spread across Lin Feng's lips.
If Aigar was truly acting as he suspected, then things were becoming very interesting.
If Aigar was watching, then the boss of the Golden Silver Tree from the First Sequence was undoubtedly watching as well.
Aigar wanted to recruit him, but the Golden Silver Tree wouldn't easily let him go. Lin Feng didn't believe the Golden Silver Tree would simply let him walk away.
Therefore, couldn't he completely leverage this situation to cause some trouble and escalate the conflict between the two First Sequences?!
Internal strife, that seemed like a viable option!
Lost in thought, Lin Feng eventually fell asleep.
However, for safety's sake, his Super Senses and Biological Field enveloped the entire room.
Any sign of hostility would awaken Lin Feng immediately.
The sleep was, thankfully, undisturbed.
During this time, Ophélie returned stealthily. Lin Feng sensed her presence but paid her no mind.
Time passed quickly, and it was the next morning, the day the first stage of the selection officially began.
