Chapter 232: Chapter 232: Was I Set Up? (Part 2)

Mrs. Hawthorne’s expression softened: "So, you need to hurry up and marry into the family. Once you become Elias’s wife, won’t I have an easier time? For the sake of your aunt, you need to work hard, understand?"

"Understood." Rhoda Kensington lowered her head, apologizing, "It was my fault earlier, I shouldn’t have said such discouraging things."

"Silly child." Mrs. Hawthorne wrapped Rhoda in her arms, gently arranging her hair with her fingertips.

Rhoda obediently rested in her embrace, lightly biting her lip. In truth, she never really wanted to give up.

Elias Hawthorne.

The man who captured her heart at first sight.

...

After leaving The Veridian Institute of Medicine, Raina North went to the hospital to visit Anna Keane.

When she arrived, Anna was flipping through a parenting book.

"You’re still frail; don’t read for too long."

Hearing this, Anna looked up and smiled, "Raina, you’re here."

"Mm." Raina took Anna’s wrist to check her pulse.

Just as she let go, Anna couldn’t help but ask, "How is everything?"

"The baby is fine."

Hearing this, Anna immediately relaxed, a faint smile spreading across her pale face, as she gently caressed her slightly protruding belly.

Raina looked at Anna, her expression somewhat complex. Whenever she saw her, she couldn’t help but recall when she was pregnant.

Gurgling—

A low growl sounded.

Raina came to her senses, noticing Anna’s flushed face, and smiled slightly, "What do you want to eat? I’ll make it for you."

Anna quickly declined, "No, no need to trouble yourself."

"It’s no trouble." Seeing Anna particularly uneasy, Raina reassured her by patting her shoulder and said, "Don’t overthink, remember, your most important task right now is to take care of yourself."

Only then did Anna not refuse.

The kitchen had limited supplies, so after considering, Raina took out the old hen soup she had stewed earlier, made some dough pieces, cooked a poached egg, and prepared two small side dishes.

Once everything was ready, she brought it out.

Anna had been unable to stay lying down. The aroma that kept wafting into her nose nearly had her drooling, and all she could feel was hunger.

Raina couldn’t help but smile; as long as Anna could eat, she would recover quickly.

She didn’t stay to dine with Anna. After calling in a nurse to give some instructions, she went to meet Elias Hawthorne, who had been waiting outside the hospital.

Thinking about how Elias had recently been as clingy as a leech.

Raina couldn’t help but frown. If she exposed her identity as The Rakshasa, would Elias just disappear?

Could be.

Elias’s prideful nature—once he knew the person he was entangled with was The Rakshasa, someone he had history with, he would probably keep his distance.

Raina couldn’t help but smile, ignoring the strange feelings rising within her.

...

Elias Hawthorne sat in the driver’s seat: "Grandmother called earlier. She wants us to go back to The Hawthorne Manor tonight."

"Alright."

Surprised by Raina’s straightforward agreement, Elias couldn’t help but turn to look at her.

Raina glanced sideways, "What are you looking at? Start driving already!"

Elias started the car.

Raina turned her head to look at the scenery slipping past outside the car window. Once they got back to The Hawthorne Family, she must bring Casper North and Shea North back. No matter how naughty those little rascals were, she went through labor for them and spent so much money raising them.
