Chapter 220: Chapter 220: No Satisfaction in Beating Them Down (2)
Outside The Veridian Institute of Medicine, inside the Maybach.
Aidan Lynch was holding an iPad, rattling off a bunch of work reports, but Elias Hawthorne didn’t even spare him a glance.
A pair of eagle-like eyes were glued to the laptop resting on his knees.
Aidan couldn’t help but lean over, and was instantly stunned: "Damn, is the Eldest Miss North this impressive?"
Elias glanced over, his gaze icy.
Aidan shrank his neck in fear and hurriedly said: "I meant the president’s wife, Mrs. Hawthorne." Seeing Elias’s expression soften, he continued: "This is just like a tiger among sheep, mowing them down effortlessly, no difficulty at all in the thrashing."
Elias said indifferently: "That’s just because they are too incompetent."
"Exactly, they’re too stupid. So many of them couldn’t even bully a woman, making it impossible for our President Hawthorne to play hero and rescue the beauty."
Elias snorted: "In the tales of heroes rescuing beauties, Raina never likes to be the beauty being saved."
She likes to be the hero. Whether it’s her own hero, or someone else’s.
Raina has always been different from others.
"Right, right." Aidan nodded obsequiously, you are the boss, whatever you say is right.
Aidan then asked: "So are we going to stay here and wait for Mrs. Hawthorne to return triumphantly?"
Elias glanced at Aidan, his tone chilling, "What do you think?"
"I actually think..." Returning to the office to handle a few hours of business then coming back to pick her up wouldn’t be too late.
But, under Elias Hawthorne’s gaze, the words turned into: "I think we should head to The Veridian Institute of Medicine to keep an eye on things, ensuring they don’t have an opportunity to falsify results. After all, it’s about the new drug, we have to be cautious."
With a snap, Elias closed the laptop, nodding: "Well said. Let’s go."
With that, he pushed the car door open and stepped out.
Aidan shook his head helplessly.
Clearly worried she’d be bullied and wanting to offer backup, yet insisting on finding a reason—what do you call that if not having an unconcerned mouth but a righteous heart?
Inside The Veridian Institute of Medicine.
Raina’s gaze swept over Aaron Warren, who couldn’t get up from the floor, then looked to Claire North, a cold smile playing on her lips: "With this level? You dare come out and embarrass yourself?"
Claire North just felt her face burning; Raina’s careless, mocking demeanor simply hit her at her most painful spot.
It was as if saying that even if she became the true daughter of The North Family, she still can’t compare to a fake.
Aaron Warren was even angrier, repeatedly humiliating himself in front of the goddess. He was about to lose his mind, looking at Raina with a face full of malice, as if he couldn’t wait to pounce and tear Raina apart.
Leila Foster ran over at lightning speed, her eyes shining: "Raina, you’re amazing! You don’t know how cool you looked just now."
Raina stroked her chin, thinking: "Not bad." Mainly because these morons are too weak, beating them doesn’t even give any thrill.
"It was absolutely incredible." Thinking of Raina’s impressive display just now, Leila couldn’t help but want to scream; she held her face in awe: "Raina, Raina, can you teach me? I want to be like you someday."
"Of course."
"Yay yay yay." Leila jumped up in excitement.
Watching Leila’s happy demeanor improved Raina’s mood significantly, her facial expression softening considerably.
Aaron Warren looked at Raina and Leila’s disregard, almost spitting blood in anger, gritting his teeth and viciously said: "Raina, what are you so arrogant about? Don’t think I’ll just let this go!"
