Claire North looked puzzled, "What does this mean?"
"You don’t get it?" Casper North looked at Claire as if she were an idiot, "Pay up."
"Pay up?"
"Yeah." Casper said confidently, "You came to ask my sister and me to keep your son company, shouldn’t there be some sort of appearance fee? Who would do work with no pay?"
Claire was incredulous, "You and Baby are good buddies!"
"Yeah, if Baby Hawthorne and I weren’t not only buddies but also relatives, do you think my sister and I would show up? My sister is an Oscar-nominated child star, that profile, that value, do you think she just shows up anywhere?"
"Ha, did I agree to show up?" A tender child’s voice rang out from behind.
Shea, hugging a dumb husky, glared at Casper, "When Mommy gets back, I’m definitely going to tell her you’re selling me out again!"
"Come on." Casper hurried over, circling around Shea and crouching down, "Think about it, we and Baby Hawthorne are like brothers. He’s almost hanging by a thread; if we don’t go check on him, it doesn’t make sense. Since we have to go, we might as well get some benefits out of it. Anyway, Baby doesn’t even like his own mom, maybe if we mess with her, Baby will be even happier."

Shea stroked his chin, thinking, "Makes some sense."
"Of course it makes sense, you’re my own sister from the same mom, I’d screw over anyone but you."
Casper gave Claire a sidelong glance, "What? Can’t let go? Are you really his mom?"
"Fine, I’ll give it!" Claire’s words seemed squeezed out through her teeth as she opened her handbag and took out a check.
Casper ran over, stared at Claire, and his little mouth kept chattering, "Really? Ten thousand? How stingy. You’re the real daughter of The North Family, this little money really tarnishes your identity. If Baby Hawthorne finds out, he’ll surely despise you even more; he’s the one who loves face the most, won’t take you as such a stingy mommy."
