Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Kidney and Vitality Boosting Soup (1)

After several days of being in a tightly wound state of testing poison, Raina had not slept more than four hours. She soon fell asleep, which was tough on Elias Hawthorne.

The next morning, Elias’s dark circles were even darker than ink.

Hence, he rarely yawned at the breakfast table, immediately earning teasing remarks from his silly younger brother.

"Elder brother, have you been plowing fields all night?" Jasper Hawthorne cheekily glanced at his elder brother. "Our sister-in-law is amazing. It’s said that women in their thirties are like wolves, in their forties like tigers, and by fifty can suck up the earth. Sister-in-law’s only in her twenties and she’s already so formidable, gifted indeed. Elder brother, you gotta keep up."

As soon as he finished speaking, he immediately received a death glare from his elder brother.

"If you want to go to Africa to mine, just say so."

Jasper immediately shut his mouth obediently.

Old Mrs. Hawthorne took everything in, immediately giving Aunt Rivers a look, who quickly understood and placed a small medicine bowl in front of Elias Hawthorne.

"Young Master, this is especially prepared for you by the old madam."

The lid opened, and a strong aroma mixed with the unique smell of herbs floated out.

The light brown soup had chunks of black meat floating in it.

They looked like the claws of some kind of reptile.

Jasper curiously leaned over, "What kind of soup is this? Smells invigorating."

He reached to sneak a sip but got his hand slapped by Old Mrs. Hawthorne.

Jasper yelped, holding his hand, and looked pitifully at the fierce Old Mrs. Hawthorne. "Grandma, what are you doing?"

Old Mrs. Hawthorne glared at him sharply, "This is to nourish your brother. A single dog like you shouldn’t drink it!"

Jasper immediately felt unhappy, "Grandma, you’re biased! You favor the important over the small!"

"Young son, eldest grandson, the old lady’s lifeline. Try being swift in your next reincarnation." Old Mrs. Hawthorne rolled her eyes, then turned to Elias Hawthorne, smiling instantly, her change of mood was swift. "Elias, drink more of this; it’s pure wild softshell turtle soup, great for boosting kidney and energy."

Elias Hawthorne paused in his soup-drinking motion: "..."

"At noon, I’ll have Aunt Rivers prepare two pig kidneys for you, slaughtered this morning, cooked into kidney flower stew. Tonight, we’ll slaughter a lamb; they say lamb testicles are good stuff... Health is the capital of the revolution, you’re well, your granddaughter-in-law is well, and we’ll all be well..."

"Pff hahaha..." Jasper couldn’t hold back any longer, holding his belly as tears of laughter welled in his eyes, "Lamb testicles are excellent, complementing form with form, hahaha... Elder brother, keep it up."

Elias Hawthorne shot a cold look over, and seeing the soup in front of him, felt completely out of sorts.

"I am, very, well!" Elias Hawthorne gritted his teeth and spat out the three words.

"Yes, yes, you’re very well." Old Mrs. Hawthorne said, but her expression of believing her eldest grandson had weak kidneys clearly didn’t align with her words. "If the soup’s cold, there’s more hot in the pot."

Elias Hawthorne: "..."

Compared to Elias’s "inhuman" treatment early in the morning, Raina slept a full twelve hours.

When she woke up, Elias was no longer there.

Raina descended the stairs feeling refreshed but was surprised not to see a soul, only catching sight of Aunt Rivers after a while.

"Young Madam, you’re awake? Breakfast has been kept warm for you. Would you like it now or later?"

"Now, please." Raina went to the dining room, sat down, and took a sip of warm water. "Where’s the old madam and the two little ones? Did they go out?"

"No, the old madam is outside with Master Casper and Miss Shea." Aunt Rivers served breakfast at the table.

Raina didn’t notice the fleeting peculiarity on the servant’s face. The Hawthorne Manor was large; she simply thought the two little ones couldn’t stay indoors, so they went out to play.

After finishing breakfast and still not seeing them return, she decided to get up and look for them, but Aunt Rivers stopped her.

"The sun’s quite harsh outside. The old madam instructed for you to rest more since you’ve been exhausted these days. She’ll take care of Master Casper and Miss Shea."

Saying this, she urged Raina to go upstairs, best to take another nap or something.

Raina had already slept enough, and her concern for Baby Hawthorne’s situation kept her from getting back to sleep.

"I won’t sleep anymore, Aunt Rivers. Could you have someone prepare the car? I’m going to the hospital to check on the baby’s condition."
