Chapter 325: Chapter 325: Playing Games with the In-Laws (Part 1)
The large reception room echoed with Claire North’s screams.
That sound was truly chilling.
"Raina North, you bitch... sob sob... you’ll never... die peacefully..."
But after all, Claire North was just a woman, and most of the people involved were women. Yet, there were still some who, whether out of reason or for appearances, did not join in the fray.
But!
The envy and desire in their eyes were keenly captured by Raina North.
Being someone understanding, Raina naturally wanted to satisfy them.
Her gaze shifted from the group around Claire back to Vincent Hawthorne and his wife, who were not far away, along with those who were on friendly terms with Claire, usually bouncing around with her.
Vincent Hawthorne noticed Raina’s gaze and couldn’t help but gasp.
"Raina North, how dare you!"
It turns out, Raina really dared.
After all, she wasn’t the one exhaustedly doing the work.
As soon as Vincent’s words fell, he found himself surrounded, and before long, screams filled the air.
When Elias Hawthorne brought in a group of police, this was the scene they witnessed.
A group of people madly wrestling together, his usually aloof father and elegant stepmother being pressed under a mob, their faces bruised and crying out.
And his little wife, whom he had been worried would suffer losses, was lounging comfortably in the chair, watching with relish, quite amused. Seeing him enter, she regretfully glanced at the clock, her expression seeming to say, "Fifteen minutes passed so quickly, should have left more time for such a spectacular scene."
Elias sensed the reproach in her eyes, blaming himself for arriving too early, feeling somewhat stifled.
He did this all for whom, if not to prevent her from getting hurt.
Despite the frustration in his heart, Big Boss Hawthorne couldn’t bear to criticize her in the slightest and resigned himself to the duty of cleaning up the mess for her.
The arrival of the police instantly separated the fighting crowd.
Now freed, Claire North, ignoring the pain and her disheveled state, rushed to Elias to complain.
"Elias, you finally came. If you’d been any later, my uncle and I would have been beaten to death by my sister."
Elias: "...Please turn around." Too painful to look at.
Claire North: "..."
A touch of resentment flashed in Claire’s eyes, yet she was already used to Elias Hawthorne’s indifference, failing to realize it was her own problem.
As always, she spoke while sobbing, but usually hiding her delicate face, there was a tragic beauty like raindrops on a begonia. Now, with her face swollen and bruised, beauty was out of the question, particularly when she shyly lowered her head, revealing a bald spot—a scene straight out of a horror movie.
Those present couldn’t help but twitch at the corners of their mouths, but she continued to sob unknowingly.
At this moment, Aidan Lynch approached, "President Hawthorne, after checking, everyone in the reception room was drugged with a hallucinogen. However, the drug has a time limit, and when it wears off, people will only feel weak and need a couple of days of bed rest but won’t be in any life-threatening danger."
A hallucinogen!
Elias pressed his lips without a word, glanced at Raina, and immediately noticed her blinking innocently at him. Then, like the others who were supposedly drugged, she lay weakly on the lounge chair, putting on an act of being frail, helpless, and pitiful.
Of course, if her face were not so rosy, her gaze less blatant, and lips less enticing, she would look more like she was poisoned.
"Elias, you must speak for me and everyone. My uncle and I discovered Claire orchestrating something to poison our Baby. We were just trying to get to the bottom of it when she, seeing her plot exposed, lashed out in shame and anger, poisoning everyone and instigating an attack against my uncle and aunt... sob sob, and you see how we were beaten..."
