Chapter 243 Predicting Your Prediction

Chapter 243: Chapter 243 Predicting Your Prediction

The three drunks were like pieces of sticky toffee, impossible to shake off.

Sang Ning had no choice but to ask the waiter to help pull them apart and retrieve their stored phones and bags.

She packed their phones into their bags and thoughtfully slung each one’s small bag over their shoulders.

After all this, Sang Ning felt utterly drained—if she ever went out drinking with them again, she’d be a dog!

These female friends were unreliable, and the boyfriend wasn’t any better.

Li Juezhou clearly knew Wen Jiu—couldn’t he come and help out, like, move people around or something?

Sang Ning managed to drag them all to the bar’s entrance and started feeling deeply troubled.

How on earth was she supposed to get three drunks home by herself?

Just as Sang Ning was despairing, an SUV she couldn’t identify but that looked fairly high-end pulled up in front of her.

The car window slowly rolled down, and Li Juezhou poked his head out. "Sangsang, let’s go home."

Sang Ning always considered herself someone with stable emotions, but hearing Li Juezhou’s words, she felt an inexplicable burst of anger. "Li Juezhou, are you blind, or am I? Didn’t you see me with three leeches stuck to me?"

"I thought keeping distance from women other than your girlfriend was the basic duty of an intern boyfriend." Li Juezhou said, stepping out of the car.

Sang Ning pressed her lips together speechlessly. "So you’re just going to stand there and watch me drag three people till I drop dead?"

"Not at all. That’s why I called reinforcements for you." Li Juezhou snapped his fingers with a flourish.

In the distance, headlights flared, and a sedan cruised over and stopped nearby.

The driver’s door opened, and Shen Fang stepped out with a grim expression, walking straight towards Sang Ning.

Without saying a word, he snatched Wen Jiu from Sang Ning’s hands and carried her off horizontally.

"Auntie, why don’t you just let me die already!" Shen Fang gritted his teeth, but the woman in his arms was limp like a puddle, showing no reaction whatsoever.

"Thanks."

Shen Fang nodded slightly at Sang Ning without any extra emotion, then carried Wen Jiu away.

Passing by Li Juezhou, he shot him an aggrieved glance. "You bastard. Let yourself get wet, but why tear up someone else’s umbrella for it?"

Li Juezhou didn’t even blink. "Old comrade, no need to be so formal—it’s just sharing intelligence."

"Ha! You’re no longer my comrade." Shen Fang retorted with a look of disdain.

He placed Wen Jiu into the passenger seat, buckled her seatbelt, returned to the driver’s seat, and drove off without hesitation.

The sedan accelerated quickly and was soon out of sight.

"Wait, you’re just letting Shen Fang take Wen Jiu like that?" Sang Ning turned from staring into the distance and looked at Li Juezhou beside her.

Li Juezhou chuckled, "Sangsang, wasn’t that your idea too?"

If Sang Ning hadn’t agreed, Shen Fang wouldn’t have been able to take Wen Jiu, even in her half-unconscious state.

Li Juezhou’s guess was spot on; it was indeed Sang Ning’s plan. She felt that Wen Jiu and Shen Fang just lacked proper communication. Maybe giving them more chances to be alone together would help them resolve their issues.

One drunk down, Sang Ning glanced at Wang Qiuhong and Xi Meina, who clung to her like ghosts refusing to let go, causing her a headache.

"Two left—both single. No one’s coming for them, so I guess it’s up to me to take them home." Sang Ning said helplessly.

Regardless of whether Li Juezhou was willing or not, if Wang Qiuhong and Xi Meina were sober, they probably wouldn’t accept a stranger taking them home either.

Sang Ning started pondering how to manage two hangers-on. Li Juezhou spoke up, "Sangsang, no need. I’ve already arranged for these two—I asked my colleagues to pick them up."

"How did you arrange it?" Sang Ning asked in confusion. How had Li Juezhou managed this in such a short time?

"Better not—it’s probably not so appropriate for male colleagues—" Sang Ning hesitated.

Suddenly, four women in black suits, high ponytails, and dark sunglasses marched up to Sang Ning in formation, exuding an intimidating aura.

Two of them split off, each taking Wang Qiuhong and Xi Meina by an arm and lifting them on either side.

In unison, they declared loudly, "Report to Mr. Li: Tonight, we will successfully ensure Miss Wang and Miss Xi make it home!"

Li Juezhou’s eyelid twitched awkwardly. He’d already told them not to reveal his identity, yet they seemed to have forgotten to switch how they addressed him.

The four female bodyguards completely failed to pick up on the hint in Li Juezhou’s gaze. Without sparing a glance at him, they hoisted their charges and marched off.

Their imposing demeanor was so reminiscent of gangsters that Sang Ning momentarily froze in shock.

Wait, why did Li Juezhou’s "colleagues" seem like emotionless, order-executing robots?

"Sangsang, now that female bodyguards are handling it, you can rest assured, right?" Li Juezhou waved a hand in front of Sang Ning’s eyes to grab her attention.

"I’m reassured—" Sang Ning replied absentmindedly, then suddenly turned to stare at Li Juezhou in surprise. Realization hit her. "Wait a second! If I didn’t mishear, didn’t they just call you ’Mr. Li’?!"

An uneasy flutter began in Li Juezhou’s chest, though he kept his expression completely calm. "You caught me. After resigning from the police department, I’ve started my own entrepreneurial venture—I currently run a small security company."

Sang Ning slowly nodded. "Who would’ve thought you’d actually have business acumen."

Li Juezhou wasn’t sure if that counted as a compliment—did he really not have any entrepreneur-like qualities?

With the three drunks safely handed off to reliable people, Sang Ning finally relaxed and got into the car with Li Juezhou.

For quite a while, the car remained eerily silent.

Sang Ning leaned her elbow against the window and propped her head up, dozing off—after staying out so late tonight, she was completely exhausted.

Li Juezhou tried several times to start a conversation, but seeing her close her eyes, he held back and focused on driving.

At a traffic light, the slight jolt of braking stirred Sang Ning awake.

She looked out the window at an unfamiliar view and was groggy for a moment as her brain slowly started working again.

"Li Juezhou, hold on—isn’t this the wrong way? This isn’t the way to my house." Sang Ning’s sleepiness faded as she glanced over at Li Juezhou in the driver’s seat.

"Of course not—we’re on the way to my house." Li Juezhou said, deliberately teasing to see her reaction.

Sang Ning’s voice turned icy in an instant: "Li Juezhou, you’re crossing the line here. What, you couldn’t wait and already want to lure me into your bed?"

She couldn’t be blamed for jumping to conclusions—she’d seen too many cases like this. Men and their little schemes were all too easy to read.

The red light interval was short. Just before it turned green, Li Juezhou glanced sideways at Sang Ning. "You’ve learned to throw tantrums at me now—and honestly, I’m thrilled."

Sang Ning was speechless; she might as well throw a punch at him.

Though the car was stopped at a red light, it happened to be at the curb, so Sang Ning could totally open the door and get out right then.

If Li Juezhou wasn’t genuinely planning on taking her home, she figured there was no point staying in the car.
