Gun Kai
Chapter 82 Urgent Four
"Wait." Song Ran suddenly felt something was wrong. "Professor Zhong, didn't we just talk on the phone? It's not about a degree; it's about the detachment method, right?"
"Detachment method?" Zhong Hui frowned at first, but then he seemed to suddenly remember something.
With a crash, he stood up, his newspaper and phone falling to the ground. His gaze suddenly became horrified as he stared fixedly at Song Ran.
"You just said...detachment method!? You're here for the detachment method!?"
"Isn't that the case? We just spoke on the phone a little over an hour ago, Professor Zhong!? You even promised to give me the method in exchange for money!" Song Ran was equally stunned.
"I only spoke with two students just now. There was definitely no exchange of money for any method!" Zhong Hui's expression was solemn.
"You..." Suddenly, his voice paused, as if he had thought of something terrible.
"No! You all need to leave now!!" His voice suddenly became sharp and hurried. "Quick, quick, quick! Otherwise, it will be too late!!"
"But the detachment method..." Li Cheng Yi finally couldn't help himself and stood up to speak.
"I don't know any detachment method! Everything is in—"
Bang!!!
In an instant, the second-floor living room window was smashed to pieces.
A black figure crashed in like a rhinoceros, accompanied by shattered glass, heavily charging toward Song Ran, who was speaking.
This sudden change happened too quickly.
Song Ran only had time to turn his head, his body tensing as his hand reached for his gun at his lower back.
But he was still too late. The figure slammed heavily into his side.
Boom!!!
The two of them were sent flying together, crashing through the bedroom door and rolling heavily inside.
Wood chips scattered. Zhong Hui was not only unafraid but instead pushed Li Cheng Yi away with a hard shove.
"Go! Don't stay! This is a trap!!"
A trap?!
Li Cheng Yi's body was already tense, and he held his gun in his hand. But he didn't leave and continued to stare intently at Zhong Hui.
"Professor Zhong, I'm here for the detachment method from the Dead Angle Quiet Shop!"
"I don't know anything! I don't know any Dead Angle detachment method! Those things are all in..."
Bang!
A gunshot suddenly erupted.
Li Cheng Yi's scalp went numb instinctively. His five senses, enhanced by the Flower Scale Armor, tightened abruptly at that moment, causing him to tilt his head.
Poof.
In front of him, a black metal needle suddenly appeared in the wall next to Zhong Hui's head.
The needle was deeply embedded in the wall, its tail still trembling.
Without a word, Li Cheng Yi immediately crouched down, seeking cover.
But just then, another figure rushed in through the shattered window.
The figure pushed off the wall mid-air, using the force to change direction and pounce directly at Li Cheng Yi.
Bang!
In his urgency, Li Cheng Yi raised his hand and fired a shot.
The large-caliber bullet missed, creating a hole in the ceiling next to the figure.
After firing, he rolled away, not looking at the result, barely avoiding the opponent's attack.
Bang!
Li Cheng Yi used his hands to push off the ground, crashing open the door to another bedroom and rushing inside.
"Chase!"
The second figure that rushed in stood up, revealing his full appearance. It was a modified human with several places on his body exposing damaged metal.
He wore a black suit, his face was expressionless, and he had a square face—the standard appearance of an adult man. But at this moment, one of his eyes was constantly flashing red, and the fingers on his right arm were transforming into sharp metal needles.
Without hesitation, he immediately chased after Li Cheng Yi in the direction he had gone.
But there was no one inside.
Faced with a fully modified human, ordinary people simply couldn't be a match. The natural strategy was to run.
"Two people ran in different directions. Split up and chase!" A voice sounded in the modified human's ear through a communicator.
"We don't have much time. The Silent Fortress signal around here has been temporarily blocked. We only have five minutes. Move quickly! The people from the Security Agency are coming soon!"
The man in the black suit glanced at the open window and quickly rushed over. He looked down and saw Li Cheng Yi, who had already reached the first floor.
Raising his hand, he aimed the needles on his hand at Li Cheng Yi, preparing to fire.
Suddenly, Li Cheng Yi lowered his body in his field of vision, shrinking into the stairwell on the first floor, avoiding the shot.
"*!" The man cursed, flipping over and jumping out of the window.
But as soon as he landed, he felt something was wrong and looked up into the distance.
A point of red light was rapidly approaching from the air.
"It's the flying instrument! Retreat!" An urgent voice came through the communicator. "Damn it, they're getting here faster and faster! It's not even been two minutes! Consider them lucky! Everyone, retreat!"
"I can give up this body and catch him first! It won't be so easy to get targeted next time," the man in the black suit said in a deep voice.
"Up to you!" The communication was cut off.
The red light in the suit's eyes brightened. He was about to enter the stairwell where Li Cheng Yi was hiding.
Suddenly, the red light in the air accelerated sharply.
Chii!
A red line flew down like lightning, piercing through the center of his chest and flying back into the air, heading toward other places.
The man in the black suit was in the middle of taking a step and didn't have time to react. He froze in place, his body slowly tilting before collapsing to the ground, unmoving.
A charred black hole had appeared in the center of his chest.
The hole was the size of a fist and was rapidly expanding and spreading in all directions, as if some kind of toxin was spreading.
Inside the stairwell, Li Cheng Yi slowly walked out, his expression complex as he looked at the modified human on the ground.
He had hidden in the stairwell so that he could change clothes and explode with power to kill this guy if he had no other choice.
But now it seemed that it wasn't necessary.
He didn't linger and quickly rushed up to the second floor. The door to Professor Zhong's house was open.
He hurried inside and returned to the living room.
"Professor Zhong! Just now..."
Li Cheng Yi's voice stopped abruptly.
Zhong Hui was now lying on the sofa, trembling all over, as if he were having a seizure.
The old woman next to him was frantically trying to feed him medicine, but her hands were also shaking, and she couldn't manage to get a few pills into his mouth.
"Send him to the hospital immediately!" Song Ran walked out of one of the bedrooms, leaning against the wall. His upper body was covered in blood.

17:12.
Second People's Hospital of Tongfeng City, emergency room.
The red emergency light dyed the corridor outside the door a pale red. www.
Li Cheng Yi and Song Ran, both with bandages in various places, were sitting on the waiting chairs, resting.
Across from them was Zhong Hui's wife, the old woman who had poured them water earlier.
She looked haggard, leaning against the metal chair, silent.
Besides them, there were also several tall men wearing black police uniforms.
"Old Song, don't be so reckless next time. Call ahead before you come. If I hadn't received the text message in time, you would have been in real danger this time." The leading uniformed man had long hair tied into a ponytail, ordinary features, somewhat gloomy, and a slightly chubby figure.
"Who were the people who attacked us?" Song Ran was obviously familiar with the man. He stood up, sighed, and asked softly.
"Fully modified humans. Who else could it be?" The man said in a low voice.
"Ideal Village?" Song Ran reacted. The only force that could cause trouble in Yi Country and send out fully modified humans was Ideal Village.
Of course, other organizations had the guts, but they didn't have the technology to hide from the Silent Fortress and allow fully modified humans to enter the city.
"We've been tailing Zhong Hui for a long time. According to intelligence, Chen Zonghan, one of the Eleven of Ideal Village, has been using Zhong Hui to fish," the man replied.
"Fishing? For Dead Angles?" Li Cheng Yi spoke up from the side.
"Yes." The man glanced at Li Cheng Yi, realizing that he was likely a Dead Angle person, and a trace of pity flashed in his eyes.
Dead Angle people were not a secret in official departments. These dangerous individuals were basically registered in the security files. The man didn't discriminate against these poor people struggling in the face of their inescapable fate. He just felt it was tragic.
"Zhong Hui's knowledge of the detachment method was also information deliberately leaked by Ideal Village. We've handled similar cases twice before. It's always the same process. We've issued warnings in advance, but some people still believe it..." He sighed.
"I just want to know one thing, officer." Li Cheng Yi stood up, his expression solemn. "Does Professor Zhong Hui really know the Dead Angle detachment method?"
"He should know. The Dead Angle-related research department came here and looked for Professor Zhong. Some people were indeed successful in crossing a Dead Angle once through his instruction," the man nodded.
"Are there any other records? Why wasn't the information recorded?" Li Cheng Yi continued to ask.
"Professor Zhong was unwilling," Song Ran answered from the side. "I don't know why, but he didn't want to record the detachment method."
Tap.
Just then, the emergency room light turned green.
The door slowly opened.
A doctor wearing a mask walked out, looking tired.
"Which one of you is Zhong Hui's family?"
"Me, it's me!" The old woman stood up, trembling.
"The patient has been saved, but his consciousness is still very blurred. He needs to rest."
"Although it may seem a little heartless, since it concerns a human life, I'd still like to ask, Mrs. Zhong, can we meet with Professor Zhong now?" Song Ran asked.
"Dead Angle people may enter a Dead Angle at any time, facing life-threatening danger! So, two million! This is the compensation we can offer immediately!"
He looked at her sincerely.
"Don't ask him. I know a little." Mrs. Zhong sighed. "Old Zhong's mind isn't very clear now. A lot of things are jumbled in his memory. But the old Zhong, I know he had a notebook where he recorded a lot of his personal things. What you want should be in there too."
"Mrs. Zhong, you didn't tell us about this before?" One of the police officers couldn't help but say, speechless.
"Do you pay?" Mrs. Zhong retorted.
The police officer was at a loss for words.
"My husband needs a lot of money to keep living. They can give it to him," Mrs. Zhong said frankly.
Cloning a living person required no small amount of money.
"Then, where is the notebook?" Li Cheng Yi asked in a deep voice.
Mrs. Zhong glanced at the two police officers and then looked at Song Ran.
Song Ran took out his phone and quickly transferred the money.
A soft ding sounded a few seconds later.
Mrs. Zhong looked down at her phone and a smile like a chrysanthemum bloomed on her face.
She leaned closer and whispered in Li Cheng Yi's ear.
"We have a villa in Linqi Mountain. The thing is in the villa, under the third floorboard after entering the master bedroom..."
Li Cheng Yi narrowed his eyes.
Linqi Mountain, that should be in the suburbs...not in the city.
Was this intentional?
He looked at Mrs. Zhong. After she finished speaking, she had already walked away, looking at her phone with a happy smile on her face.
After receiving the information, he and Song Ran immediately took their leave and left the hospital, getting into the car.
"A villa in the suburbs...This Zhong Hui really knows how to make money," Song Ran said in a low voice. "Are you going?"
"Why wouldn't I go?" Li Cheng Yi replied. "Such an important notebook isn't kept in the safer city, but instead in a villa in the suburban mountains. Interesting."
He looked at Song Ran. This guy had broken an arm again, and there were bandages on the side of his neck. He looked like a mess.
"This time, Song-ge, you stay put. I'll go alone."
"I've already transferred people from the company. I did it before we came. They should be here tomorrow," Song Ran replied. "You better not act rashly. What if you run into more Ideal Village modified humans?"
"I understand!" Li Cheng Yi nodded seriously.
He looked up at the window.
"What exactly does Ideal Village want to do?"
