Chapter 224 - 139: Harmony

Chapter 224: Chapter 139: Harmony

"Ye’er, Feng’er, get up." Mr. Wen’s voice fell, and immediately two women in their thirties came over to help Luo Ye and Luo Feng to their feet.

"Come here, Feng’er, Ye’er, come to Grandma’s side." Although the grandma was still very emotional, her tears were not as torrential as at the beginning.

Luo Ye obediently pulled her brother to Grandma’s side, eyes brimming with tears as she called out "Grandma," and glanced cautiously at Old Master Wen. Seeing no particular expression on his face, she swallowed back the words "Grandpa" that were on the tip of her tongue.

"Good! Good!" Grandma’s lips quivered, as if those were the only words she could utter.

Old Master Wen glanced over at everyone, then looked at the kneeling Luo Zhenggang and Wen Xin in front: "Just because I told the children to get up doesn’t mean I’ve forgiven you. You could cut ties with the Wen Family for twenty years and three months, and now you come knocking? What are you trying to imply?"

Wen Xin had calmed down considerably and took a deep breath, looking earnestly at Old Master Wen: "Dad, we were wrong. I don’t want to make excuses for myself, but I feel that the wrong cannot be undone. So, what I can do now is to cherish the family beside me and to live properly. Please, Dad, forgive your unfilial daughter and let her come home!"

Old Master Wen looked at Wen Xin with an expressionless face: "You still have the audacity to talk about forgiveness? Dumping a pile of mess and walking away, just a light acknowledgment of your mistake will do?"

"Dad, it’s all my fault. I lacked the responsibility of a man which led to Wen Xin not daring to return home for so many years. Dad, we really realize our mistakes, and luckily, it’s not too late. Please give us a chance to make amends!"

Old Master Wen turned to Luo Zhenggang: "Make amends? How will you make amends? You can barely hold onto your position, clinging to such an unreliable person, and you still have the cheek to be here giving orders?"

"Dad, about that matter, if you’re willing, I’ll explain it to you in detail when we have time. What I meant by making amends is to let the children and Wen Xin visit the Wen Family more often, after all, we are family..."

Old Master Luo frowned and interrupted Luo Zhenggang: "What do you mean, are you not family with our Wen Family?"

"No, Dad, you know that’s not what I mean. Compared to others, I reckon I’m the one you and Mom least want to see. I’m aware of that!"

"Good that you know yourself." Old Master Wen turned to Luo Ye and Luo Feng: "You two, come here."

Grandma released the hands of her grandchildren and gently patted them, whispering comfortingly: "Go on, don’t be afraid. He’s just putting on a tough front to scare people."

"Am I that scary in your eyes?" Old Master Wen glared at Luo Feng disapprovingly. This boy even shielded his sister behind him, does he think he could harm his own granddaughter?

Luo Feng nodded: "Grandpa, you are indeed quite formidable."

Old Master Luo looked at his grandson, both amused and exasperated by his attempt to appear calm: "Based on what do you say that?"

"Ever since we got off the plane, I’ve felt it, and everything that’s unfolded before us has further proven the point. I admit I’m very afraid of you, but I promised Ye’er I would be a brave man and protect her, so I certainly can’t turn back now."

Hearing this, Old Master Wen glanced at Luo Ye, and just as their eyes met, a flicker of amusement passed through the old man’s eyes. He saw that at that moment, the girl was not tense at all; her frail appearance was mostly an act. This girl, quite interesting indeed!

"Girl, there’s no advantage in playing tricks with Grandpa."

"Grandpa, are you accusing me wrongfully?" Luo Ye shook her head in feigned confusion. In fact, she had calmed down while Old Master Wen was scolding her parents.

The room was so tense no one dared to breathe, a testament to the old master’s authority, and it showed that everything was arranged with his consent.

Since that’s the case, allowing their family into the house meant that the old master has already forgiven his daughter, but he couldn’t let her off easily now that she had arrived. Understanding the key point, Luo Ye naturally wasn’t as nervous as before.

"Pfft!"

The one who laughed was a beautiful young girl in her twenties sitting to the right, who, upon seeing the old master’s gaze turn toward her, covered her mouth and tried hard to hold back her laughter.

Grandma sighed gently: "Old Master, that’s enough. They’re already in their forties, they understand what’s what. Do you really want to drive her away again to be happy?"

She loved her daughter dearly and had not expected such a tragedy that caused her to lose two daughters all at once. Old Master Wen always had the final say in the house, disliking her interference in his decisions.
