Chapter 404: Chapter 237: Bilateral
Guys, you can check out a post that Nuan shared on August 14th by clicking on related works. Ugh... It’s about Nuan’s bizarre "encounter" at the clinic.
---------------------------------------
"I don’t know if we’ll have an emergency assembly tonight or not. If we have to do another loaded march, that will really take my life." Little Bei said with a distressed look to Luo Ye: "Monitor, if we really have to do that, can I take leave?"
"I’ll mention it to the chief instructor when the time comes, but I can’t guarantee the result."
"As long as you’re willing to help, I feel reassured..."
While they were talking, Xing Nong came back with joy on her face. Luo Ye nudged her: "Qiu’er, all this happiness, did you charm some young boy?"
"Pretty much, hehe..." Xing Nong looked at Little Bei with concern: "Feeling better?"
"Yeah, I barely feel anything now." Little Bei nodded happily: "This method really worked best for me, thanks to you and the monitor, I’m really grateful."
"Alright, you’ve said thanks so many times already." Luo Ye checked the time: "Lights out soon, go to sleep, rest up and be ready for anything."
Xing Nong fiddled with Yaoguang: "Demon, why are you so quiet tonight? You’re almost turning into a lady."
"Get lost, get lost..." Yaoguang pushed Xing Nong away: "I’m going to sleep."
"Ooh, getting shy?" Xing Nong looked at Yaoguang amusedly: "I didn’t expect it, the demon is actually quite conservative, tch tch... I’m now very eager to see what you’d be like with a boyfriend."
"Annoying!" Yaoguang glared at Xing Nong and tucked herself into her bedroll.
"Luoluo, let me tell you..." Xing Nong whispered in Luo Ye’s ear for a while, and Luo Ye poked her with a smile: "I was wondering why I haven’t seen you around for so long."
"What are you two talking about?" Yaoguang curiously poked her head out from under her blanket.
"Not telling you!" Xing Nong puffed out her chest arrogantly: "Didn’t you find me annoying? Why bother with me then?"
"Forget it then." Yaoguang huffed and retracted into her blanket, mumbling, "I can imagine what it’s like without having to see, you should have nothing serious to say anyway."
With a slap, Xing Nong smacked Yaoguang’s butt: "If ever I tell you anything in the future, then I won’t be Yan Xingnong."
"Qiu’er, don’t be like that, I was just joking, tell me, please..." Yaoguang quickly popped out of the blanket, hugging Xing Nong and swaying her back and forth to placate.
"Let go... let go... quickly let go." Xing Nong struggled to pry Yaoguang’s fingers loose: "The tomboy transforming into a delicate girl, it’s too scary..."
Xiao Ruo, full of gossip, came over: "What’s the good news? Share with everyone so we can all have a laugh."
"Want to know?" Xing Nong raised her eyebrows.
"Of course!"
"The more you want to know, the less I’ll tell you. Sleep time, sleep time." As Xing Nong spoke, she continued to shake off Yaoguang, who was still clinging on: "Hurry up and let go."
Yaoguang’s grip tightened: "Xiao Ruo, let’s tickle her together, make her spill."
Luo Ye quickly intervened: "Enough, enough, stop it, there isn’t much to it, she just got excited because she went to the boys’ dorm to deliver a longevity cake and saw that they live even more crammed than us."
Disinterested, Yaoguang let go of Xing Nong and flopped back down: "That’s it? I don’t need to see it to know how cramped it is in there."
"Exactly, not to mention dirty laundry and stinky socks, aren’t all boys’ dorms like that?" Xiao Ruo agreed.
Xing Nong pursed her lips: "What you’re describing is normal boys’ dorms, right? How would they dare to leave dirty clothes and socks around? If the inspections by the instructor catch them, it’s more than just a small penalty."
Xiao Ruo eagerly leaned in towards Xing Nong: "Did you really go in and take a look? Tell me, what was it like inside?"
Xing Nong smacked her lips: "Xiao Ruo, are you really interested in the boys’ dorm or in some particular boy? Your expression seems a bit off."
Xiao Ruo nudged Xing Nong: "Stop it, I’m just curious."
"Hehe," Xing Nong laughed, "Curiosity is due to being influenced by certain emotions, which simply means, you’re in heat!"
"Yan Xingnong!" Xiao Ruo, with a blushing face, got into a scuffle with Xing Nong. Luo Ye quickly separated the two: "This is going nowhere, everyone back to your beds, no more ruckus."
"Yes, monitor!" Xiao Ruo stuck out her tongue and turned to go back to her bed. She was probably feeling dizzy from the commotion and staggered onto Yaoguang.
Yaoguang wailed: "Hurry up and get off, your tooth is digging into my butt!"
"Ha ha ha..." Everyone laughed uncontrollably, Xiao Ruo has one particular canine tooth that sticks out, likely the culprit.
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry, got a bit dizzy just then, let me rub it for you!"
Yaoguang quickly covered her butt: "No no no, I can do it myself."
Xing Nong gave a kick: "What’s there to rub, let me kick you a couple of times, you’ll definitely feel better."
Yaoguang yelled angrily: "Yan Xingnong!"
"To!" The certain Nong’s standard infuriating response.
"..."
While everyone was in a turmoil, Ji Sisi and Yu Na came back one after the other, both looking rather unhappy. Ji Sisi went straight to Luo Ye: "Luo Ye, I will follow your leadership as our monitor, but that doesn’t mean I completely accept you. I want to compete with you fairly, but I hope we can still be friends, okay?"
Luo Ye smiled faintly and clasped the hand Ji Sisi extended: "Friendship isn’t something that can be determined just by saying it out loud, but I have no prejudice against you."
"Thank you!" Ji Sisi smiled happily: "With your word, that’s enough for me. I apologize sincerely for my previous narrow-mindedness!"
"No need to apologize; you didn’t actually do anything to me. Every one of us who was selected is competitive. Without that spirit, I don’t believe it would be us living in this dormitory today, right?"
Ji Sisi showed a look of admiration: "No wonder the head instructor picked you as the monitor. I’m starting to understand now."
Yu Na pouted and directly took off her clothes to lie in bed.
...
Boys’ dormitory.
Yan Han was sitting on his bed, arranging a pile of medals. Jing Feng couldn’t help but say: "Yan Han, you really have a lot of medals. Honestly, I think it’s a waste for you not to be an athlete with such achievements."
Yan Han sighed: "No matter how many medals I earn, they’re meaningless without a fair and just environment."
Jing Feng patted Yan Han’s back comfortingly: "It’s also good not to be an athlete. Getting old with injuries all over the body is very painful."
"Being a soldier, with the training we are undergoing now, we’ll probably end up the same as we age. If one retires midway, there’s no difference from being an athlete."
Jing Feng sighed: "Yan Han, I think you’re good in many aspects, but slightly too radical, which is not good for your future development."
"I only want justice. Is that too much to ask for?" Yan Han said, clearly frustrated.
Jing Feng shook his head and stopped talking.
Zhan Hao came in and upon seeing the medals arrayed on Yan Han’s bedside, he said: "Yan Han, don’t display your medals out here. Put them away in the box."
"Why?" Yan Han asked with a stiff neck.
Zhan Hao frowned: "During military training, students are not allowed to display any items that are unrelated to training. You should know that."
"Really?" The corners of Yan Han’s mouth curled into a sarcastic smile: "And what about you? How are you doing it?"
"Me?" Zhan Hao was taken aback: "What do I have displayed?"
"A sewing kit, medicine box, aren’t these necessary for military training?"
Wu Zetian came over: "Yan Han, are you sick in the head? Zhan Hao’s things are for emergencies, for the service of the students. How is that the same as your medals?"
Yan Han scoffed: "The student team has a designated doctor. Does he need to handle emergencies? Isn’t he just showing off his noble heritage?"
Zhan Hao nodded: "Alright, since you think so, I’ll put my things away, and you should too."
Wu Zetian looked down on Yan Han: "I used to feel sorry for you leaving the provincial team, but now it seems the fault isn’t with others, it’s because you have a bad attitude.
You want fairness and justice, sure, but fairness and justice are always relative! Your obsession is simply a show of your inferiority complex!"
"What do you know!" Yan Han roared and lunged at Wu Zetian, but Zhan Hao quickly stepped in front: "Enough, do you want to get expelled for starting a fight now?"
"Cut from the same cloth!" Yan Han stepped back with a reluctant face.
Zhan Hao frowned at Yan Han: "My compromise doesn’t mean I think you’re right, I just hope you can clear your thoughts in time. I’ve said before, think deeply about what Instructor Mo said. It seems you didn’t take it to heart."
"Think about what? That I was born tens of thousands of miles behind you?" Yan Han stiffened his neck: "That’s right, the things you were born with are things I might never achieve even with a lifetime of effort. You don’t understand the pain of those words because you’ve never experienced the struggle!"
"Yan Han, your background at birth doesn’t determine your future," Liu Xing sighed, "When I was born, my father was already the Mayor of a county-level city. When I was in my second year of high school, he was the Secretary of the Municipal Committee of a Prefecture-level City. But now, he has been executed.
If I say I never felt resentment, I’d be lying. But who should I blame? Everyone is responsible for their actions, him included.
And for me, what I can do is to walk my own path in life diligently. Yan Han, don’t you think you’re more fortunate than me?"
Yan Han looked at Liu Xing, his lips moved but no words came out. How many could say such things in front of everyone else?
Liu Xing quietly let out a sigh of relief. Although he had settled things with Luo Ye earlier, he remained worried about whether someone might try to use him against Luo Ye. After pondering for some time, he decided to find the right moment to share his own story.
Tonight turned out to be the right moment. If there really was someone who wanted to use him against Luo Ye, then his actions would make his intentions clear.
Nuajin’s update for tonight is here; my arms are soft, my whole body feels lazy, so I’ve been typing till now. Hope you guys understand, okay?
