Ma La Ji Chi

Chapter 6 Unexpected Rescue

Liu Zheng Nan slowly sat up with Liu Shi Shi's help.

Liu Shi Shi placed a pillow behind him to make him more comfortable.

Liu Zheng Nan patted his granddaughter's hand.

"Come here."

Liu Zheng Nan beckoned Liu Yuan Hao over.

When Liu Yuan Hao heard Liu Zheng Nan calling him, he subconsciously swallowed and forced a smile.

"Dad! I've been thinking about you day and night, praying for you. You're finally awake..."

*Slap!*

"Dad, why did you hit..."

*Slap!*

As Liu Yuan Hao stepped forward, he was stunned by two consecutive slaps.

"Huff, huff."

The two loud slaps made Liu Zheng Nan, who had been unconscious for a year and had only recently woken up, panting.

Liu Shi Shi quickly supported him, gently stroking his back and helping him regulate his breathing. "Grandpa, you just woke up. Why are you so agitated? Don't be like this, let's talk properly."

"You beast!"

"Weren't you wishing I would die quickly so you could inherit the family fortune?"

"I don't know what I did wrong in my past life to have a son like you!"

"Get out! I don't want to see you!"

Liu Zheng Nan pointed at Liu Yuan Hao in front of him and shouted.

A father knows his son best. Liu Zheng Nan was well aware of his son's character. However, his eldest son, Liu Shi Shi's parents, had died in a car accident, leaving him with only this one son.

Therefore, even though Liu Yuan Hao was disappointing, Liu Zheng Nan had tried his best to cultivate him.

But just now, after Du Fei finished needling Liu Zheng Nan, although he didn't wake up immediately, he could hear what people in the room were saying.

Liu Yuan Hao's actions clearly showed he didn't want to treat him. This was why Liu Zheng Nan was so angry that he slapped him twice as soon as he regained consciousness.

"Heh heh, I've worked diligently for the company all these years. But after my elder brother had an accident, you'd rather hand the company over to this bratty girl than to me? Do you even consider me your son?"

"You want me to get out? Fine, I'll get out and stay far away. Let your capable granddaughter take care of you in your old age!"

After being scolded to his face by Liu Zheng Nan, Liu Yuan Hao, for the first time, spoke back.

In the past, no matter how harshly he was berated, he wouldn't dare to retort.

But this time, after Liu Zheng Nan's two slaps, all the words that had been suppressed in his heart came pouring out.

Liu Yuan Hao became more and more agitated as he spoke, even uttering the words about sending him off in his old age.

As soon as the words left his mouth, he turned and left. At the doorway, he kicked the door with a loud bang.

"Prodigal son! Truly a prodigal son!"

Liu Zheng Nan did not expect Liu Yuan Hao to curse him to his face. He was so angry that he almost couldn't breathe. Fortunately, Liu Shi Shi patted his back and pinched his philtrum.

Liu Shi Shi looked at Liu Zheng Nan with concern. "Grandpa, don't be angry anymore. Second Uncle didn't mean it when he said that."

Now that Grandpa was awake, Liu Shi Shi was even more certain of Du Fei's excellent medical skills. She had decided in her heart to find Du Fei and have him cure her grandfather.

...

Walking out of the Liu family villa, Du Fei suddenly realized something.

It was that in high-end residential areas like Wan Ye Huang Ting, there were no bus stops nearby, and not even a taxi could be seen from afar.

It was understandable. When a house costs tens of millions, families living there would surely own cars.

As for those living in villas, they had many vehicles and even dedicated drivers.

Du Fei waited for a good ten minutes without seeing a taxi. He decided not to wait any longer and simply walked forward along the road.

After all, with Du Fei's current physique, he wouldn't get tired even after walking for a day and a night. If he were in a hurry, his full running speed could reach the speed limit for vehicles on city roads.

It had to be said that Wan Ye Huang Ting and the surrounding communities were expensive not only because their location was only half an hour's drive from the city, but also because they were far from the city's hustle and bustle. Coupled with the surrounding lush greenery and straight, eight-lane roads, there were none of the maddening traffic jams found in the city.

After walking for about half an hour, Du Fei reached an intersection. He figured he should be able to catch a taxi if he walked a bit further.

Just then, a loud engine roar was heard. A red convertible Ferrari sports car stopped next to Du Fei at a red light.

The driver was a young man wearing large sunglasses and dressed fashionably.

As the red light was counting down the last ten seconds, Du Fei's eyes caught sight of an SUV speeding towards them from a distance.

The SUV was traveling extremely fast, well over the speed limit.

As the SUV approached the pedestrian crossing, it showed no intention of stopping.

"Danger!"

Du Fei's intuition told him that the SUV's target was the young man in the Ferrari next to him.

As he warned, Du Fei flashed to the side of the Ferrari, grabbing the person with one hand and forcefully tearing off their seatbelt with the other.

"What are you doing!"

The young man, grabbed by Du Fei, shouted in surprise.

The next second, with a loud bang, the SUV crashed into the Ferrari, flipping it over and rolling several times before coming to a halt.

The deafening sound made the young man's face turn pale.

He knew very well that if Du Fei hadn't pulled him out of the car just now, he would have been dead.

The driver of the SUV clearly didn't expect Du Fei to pull the young man out of the Ferrari in the blink of an eye.

After reacting, he turned the steering wheel and madly tried to ram Du Fei and the young man.

*Bang.*

The curb was a bit high, and the wheel got stuck, preventing it from driving up directly.

The driver tried to accelerate and ram them.

But Du Fei wouldn't give him a second chance.

He lunged forward to the car window, smashed through the glass with a punch, then grabbed the driver by the collar and yanked him out.

"Die!"

As the driver roared, a flashing dagger in his hand lunged towards Du Fei's heart.

*Crack!*

Du Fei snapped his arm and then threw the driver to the ground like garbage.

"What deep hatred do you have for this guy?"

Du Fei pointed at the man on the ground, his eyes reddened, and stared intently at the young man behind him, asking about the driver.

The young man was still somewhat shaken and shook his head. "I don't know him at all."

Don't know him?

Du Fei was certain that the SUV driver intended to kill the man driving the sports car, otherwise, he wouldn't have turned around to try and hit them again after flipping the sports car.

Hmm?

As they spoke, the man at Du Fei's feet lost his life.

He squatted down and upon closer inspection, he saw that the man's face was bruised and a pool of blood was flowing from his mouth.

Failed to kill, and chose to commit suicide by poison?

Du Fei immediately realized that the man who died had likely taken a potent poison in his mouth and had chosen to end his life as soon as his plan was foiled.
