Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Blind to the Truth
The exaggerated yet adorable comments from netizens left Evelyn Clayton momentarily dazed.
A day ago, whenever she went online, her eyes were filled with negative reviews and insults.
In less than twenty-four hours, public opinion had shifted so quickly.
Seeing the disbelief in Evelyn’s eyes, Yara Reagan closed the video, sighed lightly, and said with a smile, "That’s just how the internet is these days. Everyone just watches videos and looks at pictures. You start with one image, and the rest is all made up."
Evelyn pinched the bridge of her nose, "The praise from these people is too much. They’re hyping me up so much that I’m starting to doubt whether they’re about to destroy me with flattery."
Yara laughed heartily, "No way. A lot of people on this video site are like that. They’re generous with compliments but can be nasty with insults. Don’t take it to heart. At least for now, this storm has temporarily passed."
"That’s true." Evelyn exhaled slightly, "But we still haven’t found out who was tailing James Grant. The hidden danger hasn’t been eliminated."
Yara said, "Didn’t you ask Iris Lockwood to help you look into it? She moves around in the entertainment industry, so it should be easy for her to find out."
Evelyn nodded and was about to call Iris Lockwood to ask about the situation when Iris called her first.
Over the phone, Iris sounded a bit weary and didn’t go into details, just saying she’d come by after finishing work late.
Yara made some light snacks, especially to welcome Iris.
Upon seeing this, Evelyn teased, "It seems you didn’t like her much before; have you changed now?"
"Tch, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t bother with her," Yara said awkwardly, but while frying the steak, she didn’t forget to pour on Iris’s favorite tomato sauce.
An hour later, Iris came dragging herself in, exhausted.
She was still wearing the vacuum suit from her shoot earlier, revealing a large expanse of pale skin on her chest, looking secretly alluring.
Seeing this, Yara couldn’t resist teasing, "Why so sexy today? What kind of big shoot was it?"
Iris rolled her eyes, "None of your business!"
Needing her favor, Yara didn’t argue with her, serving the steak in front of Iris, speaking in a friendly manner, "Alright, big model, it’s not my business. Hurry up and eat something; don’t let our big model starve."
Iris gave a light hum, "Now you’re trying to please me? Weren’t you so arrogant a couple of days ago?"
Yara smiled but was actually out of patience, "Iris, just take the step down I’m offering you, and stop putting on airs."
Seeing the two about to bicker again, Evelyn quickly interrupted, "Iris, did you find the results?"
Iris finally turned serious, took a piece of paper from her small bucket bag, and pushed it in front of Evelyn.
Looking a bit indignant, she said, "I went through many people, tracked down the IP address of the account that first posted the photos of James Grant, and found the company it belongs to. It’s a small workshop, but the information is kept very secret."
"But I hired an industry detective, who figured it out in an afternoon."
At this point, Iris’s expression darkened. She took a deep breath, and her words became labored.
"Matthew Sullivan contacted this company just the day before James Grant was photographed coming to your house."
Yara and Evelyn both fell silent, looking at Iris, whose face seemed both mocking and saddened. The three of them didn’t speak for a long time.
After a while, Evelyn smiled faintly, "It’s surprising, yet somehow expected."
"I was blind," Iris said, her eyelashes drooping, her emotion unreadable, "to have had an interest in such a person back then."
