Chapter 174: Father and Son Face Off

Chapter 174: Chapter 174: Father and Son Face Off

After Kenny dashed away from those people, just as he was about to stop to catch his breath, he was suddenly scooped up!

"Wah! I promise I won’t eavesdrop anymore!"

Before he could finish saying this, a concerned and confused voice from his beloved mommy reached his ears, "What eavesdropping?"

"Mommy?!" Kenny lifted his little head and hugged Ann Vaughn’s neck tightly when he saw her, "Where did you go? Kenny was so scared!"

Ann Vaughn couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time. She reached out and gently pinched his little nose, "You’re the one who scared Mommy."

Worried that Kenny would look for her but be unable to find her, she hadn’t dared to move, sending Sherry to search by the seaside.

Though Kenny was small, he had an excellent memory and never forgot anything he saw. He surely remembered the way home.

Kenny nuzzled Ann’s cheek, his tone puffed up with indignation, "Mommy, Kenny just met a super big villain!"

Having just texted Sherry saying she’d found Kenny, Ann was amused. There was actually someone capable of making Kenny look defeated.

She couldn’t even remember the last time the little guy had this expression.

Supporting the little guy’s bottom to hold him steady as she walked home, Ann asked with a gentle smile, "What big villain?"

"He looked very handsome, with the kind of imposing demeanor described in books, a very scary kind of villain. You almost didn’t see your little baby again!"

"Pfft." Ann couldn’t help but chuckle out loud, "If you dislike him so much, why are you still complimenting him?"

Kenny "hmm"-ed for a long time before awkwardly saying, "Because I bit him once too."

So that evened things out, and he didn’t dislike that shy face at all!

Fortunately, it was just a scare without any real danger, and Kenny wasn’t harmed, but Ann was still shaken.

Kenny was not like other children. He wasn’t born at full term, being nearly two months premature, and his health was particularly frail at birth, often getting sick.

As he grew up, Ann carefully nurtured him, and although the effects were slow, as long as he didn’t do any intense activities, he was fine. But then he got that illness...

Ann didn’t want to restrict Kenny’s nature, forcing him not to run, jump, play, or shout to avoid bodily harm.

These are a child’s nature. Rather than restricting Kenny and making him unhappy, Ann preferred to let him grow up joyfully.

Sutton Jennings learned of this incident from Sherry after he returned from outside.

He glanced at the mother and son squatting in the garden observing flowers, his almond-shaped eyes narrowing.

Kenny was Ann Vaughn’s life. Thankfully, this was on Isle of Flora, where even if something happened, the residents would come to help.

But what if they were outside Isle of Flora one day?

The next day.

The fireworks festival continued for three days, and today was the second day, with the lively scene outside still bustling.

"Mommy." Kenny trotted into Ann Vaughn’s study, little hands clasped behind his back as he approached, "It’s such a pity we didn’t see the fireworks last night!"

"So?" Ann asked softly while recording the changes in the potion on paper.

"It’s a once-a-year event! Isn’t it such a shame to miss it?" Kenny scooted over, laying his little arms on the table, cradling his face as he looked longingly at Ann.

Ann could hold back at first, but with the little guy’s bright eyes on her for so long, she couldn’t help but free a hand to ruffle his little head.

"No, Mommy has promised to deliver the potion to Country D but hasn’t finished it. How about you let Sherry accompany you?"

"Okay then, Mommy, work hard, and when Kenny comes back, I’ll give you a surprise!" Though a bit disappointed, Kenny, thinking about the surprise for Mommy, quickly perked up.

So, half an hour later.

At the doll ring toss stand.

People passing by couldn’t help but stop and take a look at the little guy with his arms full of rings, huffing and puffing at a poor plush toy.

After throwing for a long time, he still couldn’t get the toy.

Even the stall owner couldn’t bear it and thought of giving the doll to Kenny.

Kenny refused in a childish voice, "No way, if Grey Wolf hasn’t caught a sheep after so many years, how can I not catch a fox today?"

The stall owner was amused but puzzled. Is that really the same logic?

After a long while, Kenny’s little arms were too tired, holding the last ring in his arms, looking pitiful.

Suddenly, a long, slender hand took the ring from Kenny’s arms and tossed it lightly, directly ringing that little fox!

Kenny’s eyes lit up, and just as he was about to turn around to say thanks, he saw a familiar face!

"Shy face, are you following a kid!" Kenny stepped back two steps, pointing at Cyrus Hawthorne with his chubby hand and exclaimed indignantly.

Shy face?

Always respectfully addressed as "sir" or "President Hawthorne," Cyrus Hawthorne’s eyebrows raised slightly, a faint hint of a smile brushing over his cold, handsome face.

He received the little fox from the stall owner, and the little fellow’s gaze immediately changed, looking eagerly at the fox in his arms.

Kenny eyed the little fox in Cyrus’s hand, grinding his teeth noisily.

This person is not only bad but also bullies children!

He and Mommy tried for so long and couldn’t get the little fox, yet this guy grabbed it!

"You want it?" Cyrus glancing at the little fox in his hand, his thin lips slightly curled as he asked Kenny.

"I don’t want it!" Kenny turned his head, stubbornly denying.

"Since you don’t want it, I’ll give it to someone else."

Cyrus’s tone was slow and calm, devoid of any emotion, yet Kenny oddly sensed a hint of...

Teasing mischief.

"Mister." Kenny pursed his little lips, thinking that a real man knows when to yield, as he held onto Cyrus’s clothes with his small claws, "Can I buy this toy from you?"

Mark Joyce, who was following behind Cyrus, planned to step forward and pull Kenny away.

President Hawthorne’s cleanliness habit had reached a point where he wouldn’t let anyone near him within five steps. If this kid got thrown out...

Then he saw Cyrus crouch down and, with the tone of negotiating a multi-million-dollar contract, coolly and indifferently asked the kid, "Why should I sell it to you?"

"Because my mommy really likes this toy, and as a man, how can you compete with a girl for something?" Kenny said with his hands on his hips, righteously argued.

His mommy...

Cyrus’s eyes darkened, the faint smile on his thin lips subsiding, then he handed the toy over.

Kenny was a bit surprised that this big bad guy handed over the toy so easily and was about to reach his little hand to take it.

But then he suddenly remembered something and withdrew his hand, looking at Cyrus alertly with his big eyes.

"You certainly have conditions for exchange, right?"
