Chapter 387: Chapter 387: At Your Command, My Queen
Then suddenly there was a click, and it stopped moving.
Kenny frowned in frustration, "How am I supposed to turn in such a failed project?"
Ann Vaughn: ???
No, son, you definitely can’t turn this in!!
Under Ann Vaughn’s patient guidance, Master Kenny managed to complete his first origami project in life
a shark that looked like a turtle.
Ann Vaughn was caught between laughter and tears for a long while before she remembered to give Kenny the pastries and went upstairs to change clothes herself.
The cloth bag that the lady gave earlier fell out of Ann Vaughn’s pocket. She picked it up and opened it, finding it full of black seeds.
She sniffed them and realized they were flower seeds.
Fortunately, there were a few empty flower pots in the room. Ann Vaughn dashed downstairs, filled the pots with soil, and planted the seeds separately.
After doing this, she placed the flower pots in the greenhouse garden behind the villa.
Kenny followed Ann Vaughn with a watering can, "Mommy, Kenny is the best at watering, let me do it!"
This was indeed true. Aside from paying attention to herbs, Ann Vaughn took a laissez-faire approach to flowers and trees, believing their survival was up to fate.
With such an attitude from Ann Vaughn, Kenny had no choice but to take on the task of being a little gardener.
After Kenny had watered each flower pot, Ann Vaughn bent down with a smile and leaned in to reward him with a kiss on his soft cheek.
"Mwah!"
After a loud kiss, Ann Vaughn suddenly felt something was off.
Kenny’s cheeks were supposed to be soft and have a pleasant milky scent. Why did they feel slightly firm and a bit cool this time!?
She jerked her head up and, without warning, collided with Cyrus Hawthorne’s laughing narrow eyes.
Ann Vaughn was momentarily stunned, then a wave of embarrassment and annoyance rushed to her head.
"What are you doing!"
Cyrus Hawthorne gave a faint snort and didn’t answer her question. He picked up Kenny and began to walk out, saying, "How old are you? Still need a kiss?"
"You’re older than Kenny and still steal his kisses. Shame on you!" Kenny flailed his short arms and legs, looking quite indignant.
"If you have the ability, go kiss your woman and stop demanding kisses from mine, got it?"
Hearing this, Ann Vaughn nearly choked in outrage, and she chased after them, "Cyrus Hawthorne! Stop teaching Kenny bad things!"
By the time they were having dinner, Ann Vaughn’s scalp was tingling from the teasing glances occasionally thrown her way by Uncle Dexter and the servants.
The mark on the handsome and indifferent face of Cyrus Hawthorne sitting opposite her was still there, adding a bold stroke to his ascetic and cold demeanor.
No wonder he tops the list of most desirable men to marry in The Imperial Capital every year.
Blech!
Ann Vaughn couldn’t help but scorn herself. What kind of nonsense was she thinking!
After dinner, Cyrus Hawthorne went to the study to handle business matters, while Ann Vaughn took Kenny to watch a detective mystery film in the living room.
"Sweetie, the day after tomorrow mommy has to go to Marinia to deliver Uncle Elliot’s birthday gift. Is there anything you want mommy to bring back?" Ann Vaughn remembered and asked.
"Kenny also prepared a birthday gift for Uncle Elliot, it’s on Kenny’s desk." Kenny tilted his head proudly, "Uncle Elliot will definitely like it!"
"What did you send?"
"It won’t be a surprise if I tell you now, Mommy. You’ll see! But Mommy, does The Archfiend know about this?"
Ann Vaughn lightly frowned and whispered in Kenny’s ear, "In a few days, stay at your godmother’s place. No matter who comes for you, don’t go with them, okay?"
If it weren’t for Kenny’s health, which wasn’t suitable for being dragged around, she wouldn’t want to leave him alone here.
Sherry was busy with the clinic and didn’t have time to care for Kenny, so Susie was the best choice, and she trusted her.
As for Cyrus Hawthorne, she could only find a way to keep him in the dark.
Kenny sensed something but obediently nodded at his mommy’s serious expression.
He couldn’t go to the scene, but he could watch the live broadcast!
In the master bedroom.
The sound of water splashed from the bathroom, and the frosted glass door was blurred by steam.
Cyrus Hawthorne walked to the sofa with one hand in his pocket, just about to sit down when he noticed something under Ann Vaughn’s white down jacket.
He hooked his long fingers around the front of that object, pulled it out, and after opening the exquisite gift bag, he saw the brocade box inside.
Inside the brocade box lay a pair of amethyst cufflinks, shimmering under the light.
Ms. Garnet’s famous creation with only three pairs, each with unique designs.
This pair’s meaning was "Destined."
With just one look, Cyrus Hawthorne recognized whose design it was, and a slight smile spread across his cold and clear face.
He pressed a fist to his lips, suppressing the arc of his smile, then put the thing back.
When Ann Vaughn came out of the bathroom, she saw Cyrus Hawthorne sitting quietly on the sofa, her down jacket and birthday gift next to him.
Her eyelid twitched, but seeing his calm expression that didn’t seem like he discovered the gift, she let out a sigh of relief.
The fact that she was leaving The Imperial Capital for two days must not be known to him; otherwise, he might use the opportunity to do something to Kenny.
If he really did, it would be nearly impossible for her to snatch Kenny back from him.
She could only defend, not attack.
This passive situation made Ann Vaughn feel terrible.
Especially since no matter how much medicine she took, it seemed to have no effect, leaving her confused about what went wrong.
Was it because she wasn’t trying hard enough?
...
The next day, when Ann Vaughn woke up tired, she found a piece of paper pressed next to her hand. Just as she was about to see what was written on it, she noticed the clock on the wall.
It was pointing at 1:30!
Her flight was at 3:00, and she had slept until 1:30?!
This clock was trying to kill her!?
Ann Vaughn quickly jumped out of bed to wash up, packed her luggage at record speed, and carelessly folded the paper into her pocket.
