Chapter 542: President Vaughn

Chapter 542: Chapter 542: President Vaughn

"Earlier, I happened to peek through the office door and accidentally saw President Hawthorne grabbing Miss Vaughn’s wrist and forcibly pulling her into his embrace. Am I perhaps seeing things?"

"You have to trust yourself, sister! To be honest, I also feel like it’s our President Hawthorne who needs some of Miss Vaughn’s charm!"

"Oh wow."

"Oh wow."

Seeing the line of "oh wow" filling the group chat with hidden meanings, the female secretary’s face gradually displayed a satisfied smile of "I’ve got the real scoop".

Just then, Ann Vaughn’s slightly husky, yet still gentle voice came from the doorway of the lounge: "I’m ready."

The female secretary, fearing that those scandalous words might be seen by Ann Vaughn, quickly put away her phone and turned around with a standard smile: "I’ll just be... An..."

Halfway through her sentence, the female secretary was completely stunned.

A silhouette stepped forward through the glowing hues outside the window, a perfectly tailored tasseled fishtail gown wrapping her slender, elegant body; a collarless cape draped from her shoulders to the hem accentuated her delicate and beautiful collarbones.

With snow-white skin and red lips, bright eyes and a charming demeanor, it felt as if all the brilliance of the world gathered on her, a beauty that was impossible to look away from.

"Gulp."

Unable to resist, the female secretary swallowed a mouthful of saliva, feeling a little warm in the face.

This white tasseled fishtail gown was extremely demanding on the figure, revealing every flaw when worn.

But on Ann Vaughn, it seemed as if tailor-made for her, exquisitely outlining her perfect figure.

Female Secretary: "Miss Vaughn, I’ll get the makeup artist and stylist in for you, please wait a moment."

Ann Vaughn nodded slightly, "Thank you."

The talk of picking out dresses with Vera White was all to fool Cyrus Hawthorne; Sherry had prepared the dress for her early on.

But since she didn’t have to do it herself, Ann Vaughn was happy to take it easy, restoring her depleted energy to face tonight’s banquet.

Half an hour later.

Ann Vaughn descended to the underground parking lot in the CEO’s private elevator, where the driver sent by Cyrus Hawthorne was already waiting for her.

No sooner had she departed than the group chat among secretaries was flooded with a series of stunning pictures secretly taken by a certain secretary.

"Ladies, look at this stunning beauty! Ah, I’m dead!!"

...

Night fell.

The seventeenth floor of The Imperial Palace Five-Star Hotel, in the banquet hall.

The string ensemble on stage was performing, the leisurely and melodious sound echoing through the entire hall.

In an inconspicuous corner, a server, using his body as a shield, accepted a packet passed to him by the man in front of him.

"You don’t need me to teach you how to handle this, do you?"

"Rest assured, President Fuller, I’ll make sure to handle this matter for you."

A flash of malice appeared on President Fuller’s gloomy face, "I won’t be satisfied until that woman is ruined!"

As the two whispered, a slight commotion erupted at the entrance of the banquet hall.

A silhouette, beautiful like a fairy, entered everyone’s sight, compelling people to follow her steps with their eyes, unable to look away for a long time.

It wasn’t until a companion pinched their arm that the men present withdrew their glued gazes from that silhouette.

As intense stares came from all directions, the curve of Ann Vaughn’s slightly upturned red lips remained unchanged. After greeting the hosts, she headed for the resting area.

At this moment, a gaze filled with malice was directed straight at Ann Vaughn.

Feeling it, she turned to look, but aside from the occasional glance in her direction, she didn’t find anyone particularly unusual.

The Ansel people would be there tonight too, she needed to be cautious.

Not long after, the hosts delivered an introductory speech and the banquet was officially underway.

The invitees were all well-known companies within The Imperial Capital. Scanning the room, one could spot several prominent figures typically seen only in financial programs.

In this circle, Ann Vaughn was a new face, so no one approached her trying to establish connections for cooperation.

Quite a few were bold enough to ask for her contact information or if she was free that night.

Originally, she was there simply to show up, having no intention of interacting much with these big shots, she was content to stay in the resting area.

"Miss, would you like a beverage or some wine?" A server approached with a tray, asking Ann Vaughn.

Seeing the cranberry juice she favored, Ann Vaughn took a glass and nodded, "Thank you."

The server, dazzled by her smile, blinked, "N-no problem."

Standing in the corner, President Fuller watched sinisterly as Ann Vaughn picked up that glass of juice, his face contorted in excitement.

Hurry and drink it!

He was determined to see this woman disgraced tonight!

But just then, a familiar figure suddenly headed towards Ann Vaughn.

Seeing this, President Fuller’s smug expression quickly shifted.

Not far away, as Ann Vaughn held the cranberry juice to her lips, a surprised voice suddenly called out, "President Vaughn, you’re here too?!"

Ann Vaughn paused, watching a middle-aged man stride towards her, somewhat puzzled as she stood up, "And you are?"

"I’m the Chairman of Ansel Pharma Inc. My surname is Halloway." He reached out warmly to shake hands with Ann Vaughn, "You’re so young and yet already running the entire Imperial Glory Division, truly impressive."

Learning Chairman Halloway was from Ansel Pharma, Ann Vaughn suspected he might be here to cause trouble.

But his words were full of flattery, so why?

Ann Vaughn’s eyes flickered, her delicate face lifted a polite smile, "You’re too kind, Imperial Glory is new to The Imperial Capital and still has much to learn, I hope you can offer guidance."

"It should be more of a mutual learning experience; your clinic is a real treasure. I’m still vexed that we haven’t been able to cooperate previously," Chairman Halloway said.

It sounded like... Chairman Halloway might not be aware of President Fuller’s actions?

Ann Vaughn mused over her thoughts and was about to speak, when a rushed voice interrupted, "Chairman!"

This voice made Ann Vaughn frown in dislike; she turned to see President Fuller running over, sweating profusely.

Chairman Halloway nodded towards him, then cheerily introduced Ann Vaughn, "President Vaughn, this is our General Manager Fuller from Ansel."

And addressing President Fuller, he said, "Xiao Fu, this is the current President of the Imperial Glory Branch, President Vaughn, whom I’ve mentioned to you."

Still catching his breath from the run, President Fuller listened to Chairman Halloway’s solemn yet slightly ingratiating introduction, and his lips quivered for a moment.

The current President of the Imperial Glory Branch... Who?!!

Ann Vaughn!!?

"Thank you, Chairman Halloway," Ann Vaughn smiled faintly, gazing down at President Fuller with a trace of mockery, "President Fuller and I have already met during previous cooperation talks."
