Chapter 609: Chapter 609: He Couldn’t Possibly Keep a Nightmare
Speaking of which, the Raines Family really raised a son to be proud of, framing someone innocent, only to pick on the little princess of Hawthorne Corp.
Didn’t they end up with their business collapsing and winding up in jail?
The man reclining on the sofa with his eyes closed responded coolly with a "hmm," then slowly added, "There’s more."
Mark immediately replied, "The top obstetricians from home and abroad have been arranged at First Hospital, ready to stand by at any time."
When Ann Vaughn and Bella Hawthorne returned to the living room, they happened to hear this sentence from Mark. She instinctively looked at Bella and found her face even paler than before, almost transparent.
Though Vera did not speak plainly, Ann could roughly guess that Bella didn’t want to keep this child.
Cyrus Hawthorne making such arrangements was the best result for her.
But given Bella’s current physical condition, a miscarriage would cause significant harm to her body.
After entering the guest bedroom, Ann finally asked Bella the question she couldn’t ask outside earlier, "Vera, do you want to keep this child?"
A look of disgust and resistance flashed across Bella Hawthorne’s pale face. She shook her head almost without thinking, "I don’t want to."
The arrival of this child was like a bloody reminder.
Constantly reminding her of that night’s disgrace and nightmare, sharper than a dagger, buried deep in her bones, impossible to let go of.
She couldn’t possibly... keep a nightmare.
"Even if it harms your health foundation, making it difficult to conceive in the future, you still won’t regret it?" After hesitating for a moment, Ann chose to tell Bella the truth.
"I don’t regret it." Bella replied firmly but bitterly, "Even if I never have children in my life, it doesn’t matter."
It’s no longer important.
All her fantasies and thoughts about love were utterly destroyed on that night. How could she expect herself to still long for the future so innocently and ignorantly as before?
Hearing the implication in her words, Ann’s slender fingers clenched, and a sudden impulse to kill surged in her heart.
But she couldn’t show it in front of Bella Hawthorne, or it would only escalate her emotions, making her even more uneasy and scared.
Ann barely suppressed the anger in her heart, covering Bella with a blanket and whispering, "Get some rest first, don’t think about anything, we are here for you."
After saying this, she left the guest bedroom without shutting the door, so Bella wouldn’t be left alone in the room to overthink and do something rash.
When she went out, Mark had already left, and Cyrus Hawthorne still maintained his lazy posture, reclining on the sofa with his eyes closed.
Yet, the dense smoke in the living room and the pile of cigarette butts at his feet were enough to demonstrate how bad his mood was.
It was like a monstrous fury and chill were suppressed all over him, intimidating enough to make the air in the living room freeze instantly.
She couldn’t even remember the last time Cyrus Hawthorne smoked so fiercely.
Ann paused in her steps, hesitating whether to wait until his anger subsided before approaching him, when Cyrus suddenly opened his narrow eyes, capturing her image without deviation, his voice deep and cold, "Come here."
"Oh." Ann was startled inside, restraining her unease, obediently walked to his side, "I..."
Just as she began to speak, Cyrus Hawthorne abruptly clasped her wrist and pulled, effortlessly seating her on his lap, his powerful arms encircling her waist.
Ann was taken aback, thinking he was going to repeat his old trick of spanking her, nearly bouncing out of his embrace.
But seeing he only held her without any other movement, her tense body gradually relaxed.
"The person who framed Bella has already received his due punishment, but what do you plan to do next?" After a long silence, Ann habitually leaned on Cyrus’s shoulder and asked in a low voice.
Although it was her first time coming to Lyncroft, she had heard of the Raines Family’s reputation, known as one of the top affluent families.
Otherwise, Shawn Raines of the Raines Family wouldn’t have the capability of framing Bella Hawthorne and erasing all traces, even making the Lyncroft Police Department work for him.
If Bella didn’t have Cyrus Hawthorne and the Hawthorne Family behind her, it wouldn’t have been so easily resolved.
Upon hearing this, Cyrus slightly turned his head, his warm breath brushing against Ann’s neck, "On the day of the incident, Bella went to the black market to buy potassium cyanide."
"Potassium cyanide?!" Ann immediately sat up straight, staring at Cyrus in astonishment, "Bella couldn’t have been thinking of committing suicide, could she?"
But that’s not quite right...
If Bella was already contemplating suicide, why seek out Riley Sheridan and drink with her?
That seems a bit contradictory.
Ann suddenly remembered the look on Bella’s face last night when she asked her about Riley Sheridan...
"Bella buying potassium cyanide wasn’t for suicide, but to kill Riley Sheridan... that’s impossible." Ann moved her lips, instinctively denying this thought.
Cyrus’s thin lips faintly curved as he calmly explained, "I had Dragon look into Riley’s belongings, and there was a suicide note in them. She wanted Bella to buy the poison to kill Shawn Raines first, then herself, framing all of this on Bella."
Not only to make Shawn, who didn’t want to take responsibility for her and the child, pay, but also to drag along her most disliked Bella Hawthorne...
Killing two birds with one stone, Riley had indeed played a clever hand.
Stupid and ruthless, probably describes such a person.
However, Riley calculated everything but didn’t factor in Bella Hawthorne hesitating before returning to the hotel and discarding the potassium cyanide, directly foiling her plan.
Ann frowned deeply, "What kind of grudge does she have with Bella to plot against her like this..." Speaking, she suddenly looked up at Cyrus, "Is it what I’m thinking?"
If what she surmised is true, then Riley’s death was well deserved.
One could even say, dying was too lenient for her!
Ann didn’t spell it out, but Cyrus still guessed the doubts she harbored and nodded slightly, "Yes."
Ann felt her heart sink, a bitter feeling she couldn’t articulate, "No wonder Bella refused to talk about Riley when I asked."
Bella probably realized quite early that the person who harmed her was Riley.
Recalling the conversations with Bella before, Ann realized that Bella didn’t lack hatred in her heart.
Before coming to Lyncroft, she had already thought about how to exact revenge on Riley.
As Riley’s agent, she had ample opportunities to deal with her, making her life miserable.
Yet she never made a move.
Perhaps hatred and pain made Bella struggle and hesitate over whether to take revenge on Riley.
But her inherent kindness and transparency led her to choose not to use others’ mistakes to punish herself.
