Chapter 660: Chapter 660: Unwilling to Wake Up
"After the rescue operation ended, all of the organization’s doctors were sent away from Gothasen, except for Miss Vaughn and the little master who stayed behind. A month later, Miss Vaughn became the crown prince of the Gothasen Royal Family, Warren Vance’s princess, celebrating with the entire nation."
At this point in the report, Mark Joyce couldn’t help but shiver.
Is the heating broken? Why did it suddenly get so cold?
"There are quite a few reports about the crown prince Warren Vance and Miss Vaughn from Gothasen. I’ve gathered them for you, but other than these, all traces have been artificially erased and cannot be found."
"Miss Vaughn was taken away by Eli Sheridan six months later and hasn’t set foot in Gothasen since..."
Mark Joyce carefully observed the man’s face, which was as calm as water, unsure if he should hand over the tablet.
Even he felt heartbroken for the BOSS after reading those reports.
Although these things were in the past, no man would be indifferent to the fact that his woman was once another man’s princess.
Moreover, the BOSS was not someone ordinary.
The man didn’t speak, his expression so indifferent it seemed he didn’t care about any of this.
Yet, the increasingly icy cold of the office told Mark Joyce that it was all just like a calm sea.
The undercurrents often flowed deeper down.
"Miss Vaughn and Warren Vance weren’t actually married, perhaps it was just in name without any other meaning. President Hawthorne, you..." Mark Joyce was about to say a few comforting words but stopped as soon as he met Cyrus Hawthorne’s deep, cold eyes.
Just then, Mark Joyce’s phone vibrated.
"President Hawthorne, there’s news from the Hidden Guard. After leaving The Imperial Capital, Warren Vance went to Marinia." Just as he said this, Mark Joyce received a second new message on his phone.
Miss Vaughn boarded a flight to Marinia after leaving the hospital...
Could it be...
"Ha."
A low, cold laugh came from the sofa, carrying with it an enigmatic mockery, instantly freezing the air flowing in the office.
...
Marinia.
"Kenny, if you feel uncomfortable anywhere, you must tell Mommy promptly, don’t hold on by yourself, alright?" Ann Vaughn rubbed Kenny’s forehead, looking worriedly at his tired little face.
Kenny nodded obediently, "I’m fine, just a bit tired, Mommy doesn’t need to worry about Kenny."
On the plane, Ann Vaughn hadn’t closed her eyes at all, her nerves were tightly strung.
He had taken a nap; while he was tired, he could still hold on for now.
The car stopped in front of the hospital.
The people Old Mrs. Vaughn and Old Mr. Vaughn had sent to pick them up led them inside, quickly reaching Ian Vaughn’s ward.
"Grandpa, Grandma, could you please take care of Kenny for a bit? I’ll go in to see Uncle first." Ann Vaughn handed Kenny over to Old Mrs. Vaughn and hurried into the ward.
Both the elders knew her skills, naturally had no objections.
"Kenny, let Great-Grandma hold you, rest assured and sleep." Old Mrs. Vaughn felt some comfort holding Kenny, after her heart had been in agony for several days.
"Kenny wants to chat with Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa, would that be okay?" Concerned that the two elders would be sad, Kenny tilted his head, diverting their attention.
When the Little Dumpling turned on the charm, it made everyone within a hundred miles gush with affection, few could resist.
Old Mrs. Vaughn and Old Mr. Vaughn finally had a hint of a smile on their heavy faces.
Until three hours passed.
Cloud-like Ann Vaughn came out of the ward, her fine brows knitted tightly, not knowing how to start.
"It’s okay, Sweetie, don’t feel burdened, Grandma and I can bear it,"
Old Mr. Vaughn’s heart sank, yet he worried his expression was too stern and would give Ann Vaughn pressure, so he smiled comfortingly at her.
"Uncle’s life is no longer in danger, but..." Ann Vaughn bit her lip, a look of heaviness flashed in her eyes, "he himself doesn’t want to wake up, and I have no way to awaken him."
This situation usually means there’s something outside that the patient is unwilling to face, feels resistance and fear towards, thus choosing to remain asleep.
Even attempts by Ann Vaughn to stimulate his acupoints couldn’t wake him.
It wasn’t ineffective, it was that he was unwilling.
Old Mr. Vaughn and Old Mrs. Vaughn finally relaxed some, their eyes began to brim with moisture.
"Good child, this isn’t your fault, as long as life is saved, the rest we will take our time with." Old Mrs. Vaughn gently wiped the tear marks off Ann Vaughn’s cheek, comforting her.
Old Mr. Vaughn gently patted the back of the sleeping Kenny in his arms and nodded along.
Ann Vaughn pressed her lips tightly, repeatedly telling herself in her heart that she must not lose her calm.
To find the reason uncle doesn’t want to awaken, then treat the symptoms correctly...
"What do you mean Xavier doesn’t want to wake up himself? I see clearly that some people just don’t have the ability, pretending to be capable, lying to deceive others!"
Just then, a voice filled with sarcasm came from a nearby bench.
Ann Vaughn turned her head and saw Brooke Ryan with her makeup all cried off, sitting there staring at her with hostility.
"Brooke, don’t speak foolishly," Old Mr. Vaughn scolded Brooke Ryan gently, lest she vent all her anger unfairly on innocent Ann Vaughn.
"Grandpa, I’m not wrong." Brooke Ryan stood up, her eye makeup a complete mess, glaring at Ann Vaughn, "Isn’t she some famous physician? Then why can’t she cure Xavier? If not, what else could it be if not just a facade?"
"In my opinion, she hasn’t put in effort, doesn’t want to cure Xavier!"
"Enough!" This time it was Old Mrs. Vaughn, who had been gentle-tempered and pampered Brooke, breaking in.
Brooke Ryan’s eyes widened slightly, looking at Old Mrs. Vaughn in disbelief.
The grandmother who always adored her now for actually yelled at her for an outsider!?
The fact that Ann Vaughn is the Vaughn Family’s granddaughter had been kept tight, just to avoid complications later on, only the managing butler and a select few at the Viridian Palace were informed.
Given Brooke Ryan’s usual behavior, they feared she’d gossip about it everywhere, so it was the butler who suggested not to inform her.
So up until now, Brooke Ryan still didn’t know that the true little princess of the Vaughn Family was the very Ann Vaughn she always looked down on.
"Grandma..." Brooke Ryan choked up a bit, tears welling in her eyes.
After all, having been raised by her side since young, Old Mrs. Vaughn felt a pang of reluctance but quickly firmed up.
"Brooke, you’re not young anymore, it’s inappropriate for me to keep you at the Viridian Palace for so long. I will arrange for your parents to come and take you back home."
These words hit Brooke Ryan like a bolt from the blue, leaving her completely dumbfounded.
Old Mrs. Vaughn wanted to send her away?!!
"No, Grandma!" Brooke Ryan pushed away Ann Vaughn standing in front of Old Mrs. Vaughn and half-knelt in front of her, crying bitterly.
"I grew up by your side, have long since regarded you as my own grandmother, please don’t abandon me, okay?"
