Chapter 708: Chapter 708: Master Blackwood Takes Action!
Sebastian Blackwood swiftly shielded the little one with his body, using his broad back to block the shattered glass. Tiny shards erupted all around, and Sebastian let out a muffled grunt but didn’t retreat in the slightest.
"Daddy..."
Cody timidly poked out his little head, and upon witnessing the scene, his childish voice trembled with fear.
With his wide hand, Sebastian cradled Cody’s small face, pushing him back against his own chest. He then crouched down with Ginny and Cody beneath the seats, urging in a deep voice, "Stay down, no matter what happens, don’t get up."
The two little ones were still small; as long as they didn’t peek out, they could remain hidden and unharmed.
"Daddy, we got it."
Ginny and Cody obediently nodded, fearing they might cause trouble for Sebastian.
After calming the two children, Sebastian bent down, his long legs stepping into the driver’s seat, "I’ll drive."
"Master Blackwood..."
Owen Rhodes was actually trembling; he had previously accompanied Sebastian on a business trip to the Middle East, encountering a similar situation, where he was shot and injured in the left arm.
Although it healed later, it left lasting effects.
Whenever he relived such scenarios, his arm would lose strength. At this moment, if Sebastian didn’t take over, he doubted he could even hold the steering wheel.
"Protect Ginny and Cody."
Sebastian instructed softly, already sitting in Owen’s spot.
"Yes, Master Blackwood!"
Owen’s face showed embarrassment; as a special assistant, he had to rely on Sebastian to drive.
"Uncle Owen, will Daddy be alright?"
Cody lay on the blanket in the car, asking worriedly.
Owen shook his head, "No, your daddy is very capable."
During that past Middle Eastern trip, the situation was even more dangerous than now, but under Sebastian’s leadership, they managed to escape. This time surely will be the same.
The people in the van also noticed the change of driver in the Maybach. The speed was too fast, and driving was erratic, widening the distance between them within a minute!
"Damn it!"
The three men in the van cursed under their breath. At this rate, they couldn’t catch up even if they had rockets. They had to act now!
"Shoot the tires!"
One of them commanded.
"Screech—"
Sparks from the friction of metal shell casings against the ground flashed in the night.
Several bullets missed entirely, and just as the three turned red-eyed with urgency, "Thud—"
In a split second, a bullet hit the Maybach’s rear tire directly.
Within seconds, the rear tire deflated, causing the car to sway from side to side. Sebastian’s deep-set eyes remained calm and composed as he controlled the steering wheel, slowing down the speed.
"Master Blackwood, the three men are gaining on us!"
Owen shouted, watching the van’s silhouette get closer and now parallel with them.
The Maybach’s tinted windows made it impossible to see inside from the outside, so the three men in the van couldn’t pinpoint Sebastian’s location. However, they speculated that Sebastian wouldn’t be driving, so they focused on the backseat.
"Take him out!"
They had three bullets left, which was more than enough.
One of them decisively shattered the rear window with a shot, "Bang!"
The sound of exploding glass echoed again.
After the previous incident, Ginny and Cody were much calmer this time, holding their mouths shut to stop any screams from escaping their throats.
"Boss, no one’s in the back seat!"
The shooter quickly realized he couldn’t see Sebastian’s figure!
