The news of Su Lin's fans sending a catering truck quickly reached Director Zhang.
He was as strict as a Yama King during filming but quite easygoing in private. Seeing everyone rushing to the entrance, he also went to join the fun, hands behind his back.
"Director Zhang is here." Actors and crew members who were already feasting immediately made way upon seeing his familiar figure.
"What are you eating?" Director Zhang peeked out the door.
"Afternoon tea from a Michelin-starred restaurant." The assistant happily handed him a portion. "I have to say, it tastes really good!"
Director Zhang went with the flow and took a bite with a spoon. "It is quite good!"
However, he put it down after just a few bites. "Unfortunately, I have three highs and can't eat too much."
"Then I'll eat your portion for you," the assistant said cheerfully.
"Director Zhang, there's a stool here, please sit." Su Lin's assistant was observant and immediately brought a stool in front of him.
Director Zhang looked at the mark on the stool and couldn't help but smile. "This was also sent by fans?"
The assistant scratched his head sheepishly. "Yes. This was merchandise released when he first debuted, quite sturdy. Our Teacher Su has been using it for years."
Director Zhang leaned back on it and found it quite comfortable.
He looked around and asked, "Where's Su Lin?"
"He's in the restroom." The assistant busied himself again, handing him a cup of black tea.
"Look at his assistant, so clever. Learn from him!"
"As expected of Sister Xu's training, truly bringing glory to their artist!"
"No wonder he's become a top star! Even his assistant is so excellent!"
Several actors from the same crew exclaimed in admiration and envy.
Han Yutong was also eating slowly, filled with envy. When would she have a group of loyal fans cheering her on?
Her assistant, holding an umbrella for her, seemed to sense her thoughts. "You work hard too! After the drama airs, you'll have fans supporting you!"
Han Yutong smiled shyly. "Really?"
"Everyone starts as a newcomer. Don't look at Su Lin having tens of millions of fans now; hardly anyone knew him when he first debuted," the assistant whispered.
Han Yutong blinked and secretly glanced at the tall young man walking towards them. "How is that possible... He shines wherever he goes..."
The assistant couldn't help but chuckle. "You're not a fan of his, are you?"
Han Yutong's face blushed unnaturally. "Um... my roommates all like him quite a bit... and they asked me to help get his autograph!"
"Su Lin is indeed quite handsome." The assistant had to admit this. "Although Huo Xun is my bias, it doesn't stop me from appreciating his beauty."
"Huo Xun, Actor Huo?" Han Yutong realized.
"Yes, he's my ultimate bias." Seeing her interest, the assistant started to enthusiastically recommend her idol, chattering endlessly.
Seeing the assistant's dry throat, Han Yutong kindly handed her a bottle of water. "You really know a lot about Actor Huo!"
"I used to work at his agency," the assistant said.
Han Yutong blinked. "Then how did you..."
"Everyone has their own aspirations." The assistant smiled at her. "And my current boss is pretty good, paying double my previous salary!"
"Oh, the benefits are that good?" Han Yutong was truly impressed.
"Let me tell you a secret." The assistant leaned in and whispered. "Our boss has taken a liking to you and wants to sign you."
Han Yutong clearly misunderstood something, and her body stiffened.
In this industry, young girls being exploited was hardly news. The reason she had hesitated to sign with an agency was precisely to avoid following in the footsteps of some others.
She wanted to shine through her own efforts on stage and didn't want to get entangled in those messy affairs. Therefore, even when offered opportunities, she didn't readily agree, always saying she needed time to consider.
Although she got along well with the assistant lent to her by Miss Su, it didn't mean she would abandon her principles.
"I haven't yet..."
Those recruited by Su He's studio with high salaries were not naive. Seeing Han Yutong's expression, the assistant knew she had misunderstood. "Miss Su, she is my boss!"
"What?" Han Yutong turned back in surprise.
"My boss is Miss Su, Su Lin's sister," the assistant said with a smile.
Han Yutong understood and her face showed some embarrassment.
The assistant patted her shoulder. "Don't worry, our boss wants to sign you because she appreciates your talent. Also, you getting to the second round of auditions was thanks to Miss Su mentioning you to the director."
Han Yutong's face showed astonishment.
She had been eliminated in the first round and was quite dejected at the time. It wasn't her first audition, but the results were always the same. Even when selected, she had been replaced before filming started several times. She had almost given up hope! Then, before she could return to school, she received notification for the second round of auditions.
She never imagined that Miss Su had spoken on her behalf behind the scenes.
"The boss is a good person," the assistant said with a smile to comfort her. "Since she's helped you, she must see your potential. Do your best, and you can consider signing after this drama is finished."
Han Yutong bit her lower lip, it was hard not to feel something.
Other agencies would have eagerly pushed her to sign before she became famous, minimizing their costs. But Su He didn't pressure her, instead giving her ample time to consider.
Where could she find such a boss?
Han Yutong's heart settled.
Perhaps signing with Miss Su's company wouldn't be so bad?
*
Su He was catching up on sleep when her phone vibrated, making her slowly open her eyes. "Hello?"
"Boss, it's done!" the assistant reported excitedly. "Han Yutong has signed the contract!"
"Didn't we say after the wrap-up?" Su He turned over and said lazily.
"She said that you, Boss, have a discerning eye, and she won't let your expectations down." The assistant spoke quickly but without causing discomfort. "Moreover, she didn't mention any signing bonus, probably wanting to do you a favor."
Since Han Yutong was so sensible, Su He would naturally reciprocate, and future resources would certainly not be lacking.
This was a simple calculation.
Su He nodded. "Well done, I'll give you an extra bonus this month."
"Thank you, Boss!"
The assistant paused and, sensing something was off about her voice, couldn't help but tease, "Boss, still not up?"
Su He grunted weakly.
"Then it seems... last night was quite intense..." the assistant said, quickly hanging up the phone.
Su He, still groggy from sleep, only understood what was said after a while, and her face turned red.
He had indeed been a bit unrestrained lately, always tossing and turning until midnight before letting her rest.
Her back still ached from it.
