In the newly built residential area of Beloburg, within a three-story brick and concrete house, the young Daenerys is busy in the kitchen.
Although the house distributed to their family by the Northern Territory is well-equipped, with a toaster and stove, as well as a complete water supply, due to the current level of development in the Northern Territory, it cannot be compared to the Empire's mainland in terms of resources.
This also makes it somewhat challenging for Daenerys to prepare a sumptuous dinner for her husband.
However, this doesn't affect Daenerys's good mood today because her husband, Mr. Merit, has found a job and is going for an interview today.
If all goes well, Mr. Merit will secure a well-paid job related to construction, which is undoubtedly good news for him as he was engaged in construction work in Langton.
Although they are both still young and don't mind starting from scratch, for Daenerys, if they can live a better life, who would choose hardship?
The reason Daenerys encouraged her husband to come to the Northern Territory is largely because of the generous conditions offered by the Empire for immigrants coming to the Northern Territory.
For example, the house they are living in now, the immigration subsidy from the Empire, and Mr. Merit's job.
These were all promises made by the Empire before they came to the Northern Territory, and now that all have been fulfilled, Daenerys is full of anticipation for the future.
Of course, it would be better if the commerce in the Northern Territory was a bit more prosperous.
That way, when Daenerys goes out shopping, she wouldn't end up not being able to buy the meat and cakes she wants.
Back in Langton, although their house was less than a third of the size it is now and only had one floor, Daenerys could still buy fresh or smoked meat from the butcher on the street, and soft white bread and cakes smothered in butter and cream from the bakery at the corner.
But considering the Empire's promise, that just by coming to the Northern Territory they could earn at least 50% more than before, Daenerys remains full of hope for the future.
"Everything will come!" Daenerys reassured herself.
Even though the commerce in the Northern Territory is so ordinary that she can't even buy a skirt in line with the Langton fashion trend or a bottle of perfume from France.
But looking at the new home in front of her, with a kitchen at least five times bigger, Daenerys still thinks it's all worth it.
After all, for such a big house in Langton, their family would have to spend at least twenty years without spending a penny to be able to afford it.
Even if Mr. Merit's career goes smoothly and he gets promoted to earn more money, a three-story brick and concrete house like this would still be expensive in Langton.
If the location were slightly better, Daenerys's "unrealistic" dream would have been completely dispelled.
She longs for a better life, but not to the extent of ignoring reality. After all, Daenerys truly loves her husband and hopes he won't have to work too hard.
Otherwise, as a young middle-class woman with a college diploma, Daenerys could easily marry a man with better conditions and lead a better life.
At worst, she wouldn't have left the big city of Langton to come to the emerging land of the Northern Territory.
You have to know that in the Northern Territory, you can't buy those fashionable jewelry and clothing that girls love, nor can you buy France's perfumes and various other novelty items.
"If I had known earlier, I would have gone to the dock to see if I could buy some fresh fish. One main dish isn't enough!" Just as Daenerys was pondering what else she could do to make tonight's celebration dinner more lavish, Mr. Merit's distinct footsteps sounded outside the door, reminding Daenerys that her husband was back.
This made Daenerys put down her work quickly, wipe her hands with a cloth, and dash out of the kitchen to the entrance hall to greet her husband as soon as possible.
Mr. Merit opened the door, and before he could greet his wife, Daenerys had already smiled at him and gave him a loving hug.
"Honey, how did the interview go today? Did they want you?" Daenerys asked Mr. Merit eagerly, helping him take off his coat and hat and hang them on the coat hook on the wall.
"I got the job, my sweetheart!" Mr. Merit didn't keep Daenerys in suspense; he excitedly hugged his wife's waist and lifted her up: "An annual salary of 200 gold pounds! Although frequent business trips are required, there'll be extra allowances for each trip. According to the manager who received me today, if I work diligently for a year, I can make around 300 gold pounds!
This is much more than what we earned in Langton! Now I finally have the money to buy you that favorite set of headpieces!"
"That's wonderful, darling!" Daenerys was genuinely happy for her husband, although she felt a bit worried and discontent about his need to travel for work, at this moment, she was completely immersed in joy: "Don't worry about my headpieces, this isn't Langton, even if I wanted to buy them, I couldn't! Perhaps you should treat yourself to a pocket watch, though, it would definitely be useful for your work!"
"Tomorrow I'll go see if I can find one on the streets; although the Northern Territory isn't like Langton, pocket watches should still be available."
"There's no hurry; we can carefully plan our future! Tonight, let's just celebrate properly!" Mr. Merit put his wife on the couch, kissed her tender lips, and at the same time his hands did not forget to caress Daenerys affectionately.
Daenerys didn't want to refuse her husband, but she gently pushed him away and said softly: "Darling, I prepared a whole table of good food for you, do you want to eat me before dinner?"
"Can't I eat you first?" Mr. Merit loosened his collar with a mischievous grin and then kissed her again.
Daenerys did not reject him, but before being "eaten," she said: "I made your favorite lamb chops; it would be such a waste if they got cold. Shall we eat first?"
"No! But I have an idea; I can enjoy the lamb chops while having you!" Saying this, Mr. Merit picked up his wife and carried her to the dining room.
Seeing this, Daenerys could only give up resisting, reluctantly saying: "Alright, alright, since today we're happy! Just this once, not next time!"
Saying this, Daenerys undid her clothes, allowing Mr. Merit to lay her half-dressed on the dining table.
