Chapter 119 - 102: Successfully Taking the First Step (4k)_2

"Okay, let's settle on that for now, and try out the effect so Zhang Yang can make the decision! Do you have no other plans for the rest of the time? Let's go to Zhang Yang's store first!"

Wang Yan scratched his head and said, a bit embarrassed, "Uh, well, it's no problem to go, but I need you to lend me some money for gas. The fuel gauge was already flashing red when I came here, and I'm worried I won't make it to the town!"

Zhao Bingguang sweat like a waterfall!

Wang Yan's "starving to death" wasn't a joke! This guy's really having a hard time.

"I'll give you five hundred, consider it a loan from me!"

Old Zhao was straightforward, directly pulling out his wallet and giving Wang Yan five hundred yuan. Whether it works or not, let's try something first since we've come this far!

Just like that, Old Zhao and Wang Yan drove together to Zhang Yang's fishing gear shop.

At the shop, originally Zhang Yang thought Wang Yan was here to buy something or have a chat over tea, but then Old Zhao explained simply.

Well, Wang Yan's role today turned out to be the photographer Old Zhao accidentally found!

If it's work-related, let's talk about work.

The three of them briefly discussed it, and after Zhang Yang shared his general idea for the shoot, Wang Yan confidently agreed to it.

It's just taking some video footage of fishing, primarily recording material, with much lower requirements for lighting effects than artistic photos, as long as you know a bit about camera language.

Seeing Wang Yan confidently assuring no problems, Zhang Yang suggested they find a place to try it out, so the three of them agreed to head to Meng Village Fishing Ground the next morning for a proper fishing test, to see the effects of the filming.

The next morning, Zhang Yang arrived early at the fishing ground, and Han Qiang and Wang Yan also reached the fishing ground, with Han Qiang signing up for the proper fishing while Wang Yan didn't bring fishing gear today but carried his DSLR instead.

Truth be told, with a tripod set up, a DSLR hung around his neck, and a baseball cap on, Wang Yan looked pretty professional once he got serious.

Before entering, Zhang Yang briefly explained the shooting requirements, leaving the rest to Wang Yan for creative freedom.

As a result, all of Zhang Yang's movements, from preparing bait before the start to drawing lots and entering the ground to start fishing, were recorded by Wang Yan until the fish activity slowed down and they settled accounts for the catch, which marked the end of the shooting process.

Today Zhang Yang's catch was decent, weighing 52 pounds, ranking second on the south bank, and after the battle ended and he packed up to go home, Wang Yan took the equipment back to his place.

To edit the footage, Wang Yan had bought a second-hand laptop when getting the DSLR, its performance is rather poor, and it gets too hot over time, but for now, he can't care much about it, first make a rough cut of the first test footage.

Gradually copying the footage from the memory card, then editing according to the general idea, working from noon till late at night, during which the computer rebooted several times, he finally managed to edit a trial cut.

Though Wang Yan seems eccentric and has a bit of a social daring personality, his learning ability and smartness are indeed far beyond the ordinary.

He's not very familiar with many functions of professional editing software, but he checked online bit by bit and experimented in practice; after editing one sample video, he became roughly familiar with about seventy or eighty percent of the functions.

The next morning, Wang Yan hastily ate a couple of roasted flatbreads to fill his stomach and drove to Zhang Yang's fishing gear store.

Then, on Wang Yan's second-hand laptop, Zhang Yang saw the morning's filming results from yesterday.

The video was about thirty minutes long, with an opening, background music, and different angle fish-fighting shots. Aside from no voiceover making it a bit monotonous, Zhang Yang actually felt pretty pleased after watching it.

"How is it? Is it alright? Yesterday I edited till midnight, the computer's response was so slow, and I'm not familiar with the software. If the equipment gets upgraded, it can be even better!" Wang Yan asked nervously.

Zhang Yang said, "It's fine! It's usable! I called Brother Zhao over to arrange a new computer for you! It's better than I expected!"

"Wow, you sure you've only learned a bit?"

"Haha, with my brain, this level of technology, just a glance is enough to understand!"

"I even thought about adding some exciting music to the video, but worried it might scare you and mess up the work, so I didn't dare to do it!"

Seeing Zhang Yang satisfied with the sample video, Wang Yan swiftly regained his cocky demeanor.

In no time, having been informed, Old Zhao also arrived at the store, and after rewatching the edited video, he was quite surprised.

"It seems decent, but I still feel like something's missing!" Old Zhao frowned and thought for a while, struggling to pinpoint what's lacking.

Zhang Yang grinned and said, "It's missing a voiceover! If during the next shoot, I could do some explanation and interaction, the video's content would be more complete!"

Zhao Bingguang slapped his forehead, "Yes! You're absolutely right. Adding voiceovers at key points would improve the effect!"

Wang Yan interjected at this time, "That's simple, if we have recording equipment, we can add it during post-editing!"

"Then let's resolve the equipment issue first! Let's go, whatever we need, I'll take you to the electronic street to get it! Let's get all the equipment sorted today!" Zhao Bingguang said decisively.

Wang Yan smiled and said, "Uh, well, before we get the equipment, shouldn't we finalize the job and compensation terms first? Business is business, personal is personal; we better not mix them together!"
