Two days passed in a flash. At eight in the morning, Shen Yicong entered Shen Yilin’s room.
Qin He was standing by the bed, watching the caregiver feed Shen Yilin liquid food.
The servants here were all hired by Shen Yicong locally and spoke Japanese.
Qin He looked up as Shen Yicong entered and nodded with a cold expression.
Shen Yicong looked at Shen Yilin, his brow furrowed slightly. His brother seemed to have become even thinner lately.
“Has the research plan still not been produced?” Shen Yicong turned to Qin He and asked.
Qin He shifted her gaze from Shen Yilin and gave Shen Yicong a cold look. “Mr. Shen, this is stomach cancer, and it’s in the late stage! If you think a treatment plan can be produced so quickly, I should have already received a Nobel Prize in Medicine.”
Shen Yicong’s eyes narrowed coldly. He looked at Qin He. “I don’t care about Nobel Prizes or anything like that, but I know my brother’s time is limited. If you still can’t come up with a treatment plan, I’ll have to take some action.”
“What kind of action?”
Qin He stared at Shen Yicong defensively. “Shen Yicong, if you intend to do anything to me, then Yilin’s… condition will have no one to research it!”
Shen Yicong let out a cold laugh. “Miss Qin, rest assured, I’m still counting on you to treat Yilin. However, the three people under you are not so sure. I see that Wang Jiming hasn’t been doing anything lately.”
Qin He gritted her teeth in anger. “Are you threatening me? Shen Yicong, do you have any new tricks?”
Shen Yicong looked at Qin He indifferently.
“As long as it works, isn’t it good enough? Miss Qin, you can also choose not to be threatened. Just prepare to collect Wang Jiming’s body later. I heard that you morticians are very skilled at doing makeup for corpses. It would be a good opportunity for me to witness it then.”
Shen Yicong’s eyes always carried a bloody ruthlessness.
Qin He clenched her fists tightly. After meeting his gaze for a few seconds, she finally averted her eyes. “Fine, I will produce a treatment plan as soon as possible.”
One had to bow their head under another’s roof. If she were the only one Shen Yicong had tied up here, she could refuse to cooperate even if it meant death. But Gao Lang, Li Fengrui, and Wang Jiming were all implicated, and she had to protect them.
Shen Yicong left.
Qin He stood in place, listening to the sound of the door opening and closing behind her. She took a deep breath and gazed at Shen Yilin on the hospital bed.
Originally, she had time to think about a treatment plan, but now Shen Yicong couldn't wait.
He ultimately didn't understand that once he couldn't wait, the time left for them would become even shorter. She couldn’t dedicate all the remaining time to treating Shen Yilin.
After all, she had to prioritize the safety of those three people first.
Qin He turned and went back to the office.
In the office, Gao Lang and Li Fengrui were researching the latest drug formulations.
They were holding classified medical documents from several countries, all related to stomach cancer research projects.
The eventual failure of a research project didn't always mean the approach was flawed; it could have been due to issues midway. However, those approaches were still worth studying, as they were likely feasible in concept.
Li Fengrui looked up from the microscope. Seeing Qin He return, he immediately said, “Miss Qin, how is the patient’s condition today?”
Gao Lang also looked up.
Wang Jiming, sitting on the sofa, stirred slightly but said nothing.
“The condition is not good. He’s lost more weight than before,” Qin He said, then looked at Li Fengrui. “Shen Yicong was quite harsh today.”
Wang Jiming, on the sofa, suddenly sat up.
“What did he say?”
Qin He glanced at Wang Jiming. “He said if we don’t come up with a treatment plan, he will take some action.”
Qin He dared not say that Shen Yicong was targeting him now.
Wang Jiming was already timid, and under the pressure of life and death, he had started to slack off.
If he knew Shen Yicong wanted to kill him, he might have a mental breakdown.
Li Fengrui’s expression became grave.
“If that’s the case, we can only resort to desperate measures. We’ll have to try the treatment plans that haven’t yielded results yet on the patient, one by one.”
Qin He nodded. She walked to their table. “What are you researching here?”
Li Fengrui replied, “The latest targeted therapy drugs.”
Gao Lang leaned in. “However, these targeted drugs don’t have a significant effect. They certainly can’t cure the condition, but I think they might buy us some more time.”
Qin He squinted, still pondering Shen Yicong’s words from earlier. An idea quickly formed in her mind.
If she could find a way to send Li Fengrui, Gao Lang, and Wang Jiming away, then she could stay and treat Shen Yilin. That would still show Shen Yilin that she hadn't given up.
Moreover, if it were just her, Shen Yicong wouldn't dare do anything to her, no matter how angry he was.
Qin He pursed her lips and looked at the microscope. A flash of inspiration crossed her mind. She then turned her gaze to some of the nearby medical equipment.
“Miss Qin?”
“I’ll research with you,” Qin He said.
The day passed quickly. Qin He only left the office for breakfast and lunch, spending the rest of her time researching drugs in the office.
At six in the evening, Shen Yicong stood in his room, watching the surveillance camera on the wall.
“It seems putting some pressure on her was the right thing to do,” he said, his gaze cold and indifferent as he watched the figure in the office.
Qin He was busy moving between various machines, only taking time to come out for dinner at nine in the evening.
The villa’s chef had prepared a lavish dinner.
It was as grand as a state banquet.
Qin He knew Shen Yicong had no good intentions; he just wanted her to conserve her energy to treat Shen Yilin.
After dinner, Qin He returned to her room.
She went into the bathroom to wash up.
After closing the bathroom door, Qin He took a deep breath and turned on the faucet and the showerhead.
Amidst the sound of rushing water, Qin He checked all corners of the bathroom, ensuring there were no hidden cameras. Then, she stealthily took out a few chips and wires from her clothes.
These were parts she had secretly removed from medical equipment. Some medical devices had connection and Bluetooth systems for the convenience of viewing examination results on a computer.
These connecting wires and Bluetooth systems, including the chips within them, were very similar to mobile phones.
She began to quietly modify the chips and connecting wires.
“I’m still missing some tools,” Qin He said, frowning as she looked at the small prototype of a “mobile phone” before her.
It was only a mainboard connected to various wires.
Qin He mused that it wasn’t just tools that were missing. Most importantly, a connector was needed. Otherwise, even if it were completed, the phone would be like one without a network, in flight mode.
However…
Qin He put the items away, her mind drifting to another medical device. That device could connect to the internet. Although its system was so basic it could only be used as a medical system, with her skills, she could definitely remove the networking chip from it.
Qin He now had a clearer plan.
