Chapter 262 Running Away Isn't a Solution

In the room, Di Shishi squinted at Qin He.

“Qin He, I know you have many friends, and there must be quite a few people thinking about being the baby’s godparents. So I have to get a head start. From now on, I’m the baby’s godmother, understand?”

Qin He chuckled, “You climbed through my window in the middle of the night just for this?”

“This is very important!” Di Shishi said seriously.

They chatted for a while, and Qin He learned from Di Shishi that the Lin family couple, Lin Lei from the Lin Group, had suffered immensely and had died due to ineffective treatment.

“Was it really ineffective treatment or something else?” Qin He’s eyes narrowed slightly.

She found it hard to believe such a coincidence existed in the world.

Di Shishi smiled meaningfully.

“What do you think?”

As Di Shishi left, she also left a golden lock, saying it was a gift from a godmother.

She returned the way she came, jumping out of the window.

Looking at Di Shishi’s unhindered comings and goings, Qin He felt a pang of worry. Gu Qishen’s martial arts skills were far superior to Di Shishi’s. She didn't want to imagine Gu Qishen suddenly appearing in her room one day.

After some thought, Qin He made a phone call to Qin Yun.

She told him about Di Shishi’s visit.

“Brother, if Shishi can sneak onto my balcony, are you sure all the entry points into the house are secured?”

Qin Yun on the other end of the line gave a cold laugh, “Don't worry. I’ve set up many surveillance cameras on all the routes leading to the main building. The moment Di Shishi entered the Qin family gate, I detected her. I only didn't stop her because I knew she was looking for you. If it had been Gu Qishen, he would have been stopped at the main entrance long ago.”

Only then did Qin He relax.

A few days passed in the blink of an eye. During this time, Qin He focused all her attention on the baby.

Before the baby was even a month old, she felt an overwhelming sense of fragility. Even though Ming Yuzhu and Qin Yun had hired several professional confinement nannies, Qin He remained highly sensitive. The moment the baby cried, her heart would race with anxiety.

In the following days, a stream of guests arrived at the Qin family residence.

Qian Zimo came in person, and Yashen and Shen Ruiyi also sent gifts for the baby.

Zuo Xiuxian was abroad, but his gift was sent over with Qian Zimo.

Wednesday, nine in the morning.

Qin He was changing the baby’s diaper when a maid knocked on the door.

“Miss, Miss Ming Xue from the Ming family is here to see you.”

“Ming Xue? Let her in,” Qin He said with a smile. She hadn't seen Ming Xue in a while.

The maid responded and left. A moment later, Ming Xue walked in with an expectant expression.

“Sister, I've come to see you and the baby!”

Qin He teased Ming Xue, “I thought you were too busy dating to come see me. Your mother was in Qingcheng a while ago, and you didn't even visit.”

Ming Xue looked a little guilty. “I had no idea you were in trouble before. The family kept it from me. As soon as I found out, I rushed over!”

As she spoke, Qin He noticed the person following behind Ming Xue.

Upon seeing Gu Ranran’s face, Qin He’s expression tightened.

Gu Ranran had worn a mask and hat when she arrived. After taking them off, she saw Qin He’s somber expression and looked puzzled.

“What’s wrong? Sister Qin He?”

Qin He turned to Ming Xue, “Why did you bring someone without telling me beforehand?”

Gu Ranran, standing to the side, was taken aback.

Although she and Qin He had some conflicts before, their relationship had been good afterward.

Why did Qin He seem so distant today?

“Sister Qin He, what’s wrong?” Gu Ranran asked with concern.

Qin He’s lips tightened. The memory of Gu Ranran being arrogant and bossy, ordering her around, flashed through her mind.

“You don’t deserve my brother!”

“You can’t get a word out of you!”

“People like you shouldn’t marry into the Qin family!”

Those condemnations had, for two years, seemed to seep into her flesh and blood.

Seeing Qin He’s distressed expression, Gu Ranran turned to Ming Xue and whispered, “Ming Xue, what’s wrong with Sister Qin He?”

Qin He took a deep breath.

Why, after losing her memory, did she have to recall everything from the past?

She didn’t know how to face these people now.

Gu Ranran had bullied her in the past. In her usual temperament, they should have cut ties completely.

However, after she lost her memory, she had discovered some endearing qualities in Gu Ranran.

Qin He forced herself to calm down.

She looked at Gu Ranran and offered a faint smile.

“I’m sorry, I haven’t been feeling well lately. It’s probably the stress of taking care of the baby. Ming Xue, Ranran, please go back for today.”

Gu Ranran’s eyes widened.

She had just arrived, and Qin He wanted her to leave?

Gu Ranran had a purpose for coming today. She gritted her teeth and stepped forward.

“Sister Qin He, I actually came today to ask you something.”

“Can you tell me why you suddenly refuse to see my brother?”

Gu Ranran’s expression was sincere.

Qin He clenched her hands.

“There’s no reason, we just weren’t compatible.”

“Not compatible?”

Thinking of the atmosphere at home lately, Gu Ranran anxiously grabbed Qin He’s arm.

“Sister Qin He, do you know what my brother has sacrificed for you? He even held a very important meeting before going to Haicheng, and just because you said it was for fun, he was willing to fly there from afar.”

“Before, when you were injured, when you were harmed, my brother risked his life to save you. But now, you’re suddenly ignoring him. You owe him an explanation!”

Qin He’s face turned a little paler.

“The reason is incompatibility. My brother and I were never suited for each other!”

“But my brother hasn’t come home for many days, nor has he gone to the company. His entire mind is filled with you,” Gu Ranran’s grip on Qin He’s arm tightened.

“Sister Qin He, in all my years, I’ve never seen my brother like this. It’s as if he doesn’t care about anything else, as if he’s completely lost his mind!”

“This has nothing to do with me,” Qin He said, her lips pressed tight.

“Ranran, please go back first. I need some time to calm down these days. Let me think things through. Once I’ve figured it out, I’ll give you both an answer, okay?”

Gu Ranran looked at Qin He expectantly.

Seeing Qin He’s resolute attitude, she had no choice but to turn and leave.

The room fell silent.

Qin He released her clenched hands, revealing several deep crescent moon nail marks on her palm.

She had to calm down for a while and think carefully about how to handle these emotions.

Given the current situation, avoidance was not a solution.

However, until she figured things out, she didn’t want to see Gu Qishen.

Qin He pondered for half a month.

She tried her best to maintain a positive mindset, stopping immediately whenever she felt a headache coming on.

“Don’t return to being the pathetic self of the past,” Qin He silently told herself.
