Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Pregnancy Reveal (Unedited Chapter)
Her phone buzzed in her hands. She had gotten a message from Kang Beichen.
She rolled her eyes slightly before reading it. The message read: "Chen’er, it’s been a while since we’ve hung out. How about we have lunch today? Our usual place."
Yue Chen sighed. Perhaps, it would be better to go out to have fun.
With this thought in mind, she swiftly typed out a reply.

Yue Ning was currently in the room as she read the notification from the system’s white holographic panel.
"Not bad, I was able to complete this mission." She smiled as she looked at her stats which were looking quite good.
’If only the host wasn’t so smart,’ the system complained.
Yue Ning scoffed. She wasn’t interested in consoling the system.
’So, what will you do about your family? At the end of the day, they are still your biological family.’ The system asked, changing the topic.
Yue Ning held her chin as she thought for a few moments. "Technically, I am just a character in this novel."
’But you are experiencing it. If it were in your real world, what would you have done?’ The system asked once again.
This time around, Yue Ning was silent, having no answers to the system’s questions.
’I would leave you to think about it. Your family is waiting for you,’ the system advised, and kept shut instantly.
Yue Ning’s shoulders relaxed, seriously considering her words.
One on hand, Yue Ning found her parents. On the other hand, Huo Mingjie was currently sitting opposite a cloaked figure.
"I am glad you honored my invitation."
The figure started. There was a cigarette in between his fingers. He took out a large drag causing smoke to fill the room.
"Sir," Huo Mingjie coughed slightly. "I’d do anything to trample on Huo Feng." His eyes were filled with intense determination.
He recalled how powerless he felt after his mother was taken away, and a strange feeling of determination coursed through him.
The cloaked figure chuckled maniacally. Huo Mingjie swallowed as goosebumps rose on his hands hearing him laugh.
The figure waved his hands, before saying amidst laughter. "Do not mind me." The laughter stopped all of a sudden.
"My heart is filled with joy when I meet people who share the same goal as me... destroying Huo Feng."
After a while, he leaned forward towards Huo Mingjie. "If there is something I don’t tolerate, then it’s betrayal. I hope you won’t betray me."
Huo Mingjie gulped softly, before plastering a smile on his face. "You don’t have to worry about that. I dare not betray you." He asserted.
As though he was satisfied by his answer, the cloaked figure leaned further back in his chair, a smile appeared in his eyes.
"Then it is settled."
"Sir... may I know your name?" Huo Mingjie asked after a few seconds of silence.
The smile on the cloaked figure deepened. This was the first person who wasn’t afraid of him, but was bold enough to ask for his name. He knew he hadn’t made a mistake in choosing a pawn.
"Song Kai."

"Why do you always have a listless expression whenever I meet you? What happened this time again?" Kang Beichen noticed the downcast expression on her face, and thus asked her.
Yue Chen dropped her cutlery, and let out a sigh. "Yesterday, my parents went out. And when they returned, they had... terrified expressions on their faces. I tried asking what was wrong, but all I got was silence in response."
Kang Beichen frowned, and he felt impatient. He didn’t understand why he felt that way with Yue Chen. If she didn’t have issues with Yue Ning, then her parents would have issues.
For the first time, he felt like Yue Chen was only with him because he could help her solve her problems.
"Have you tried asking them what the reason might be?" Suppressing the irritating feeling in his heart, he asked her.
Yue Chen stared at him speechlessly. "Didn’t you hear when I said I asked them, but they didn’t give me replies? Are you even listening to me?"
The frown on his face deepened, and his expression darkened.
"I was listening." He answered, and folded his arms. "I brought you here so your spirits would be lifted. But you are ruining the mood with your family drama. I can’t deal with this anymore."
Yue Chen parted her lips in surprise. This was the first time he would speak to her this way, and she was confused on a befitting reply to give him.
"Beichen," she breathed out at first. "Why? Why would you speak to me like that?" She demanded, her expression was of shock and amazement.
Kang Beichen scoffed. "Do you think I am not aware of your wish to marry Huo Feng? Do you think I am a fool?" He scoffed at her delusions.
"You should probably take a look at yourself and your sister. Any reasonable man would obviously choose your sister." He paused, and shook his head as though he just returned to his senses.
"But I chose you because I genuinely liked you. But what did I get in return, I’m being treated as a segon option." He spat, causing Yue Chen to flinch.
Her face turned pale, while her lips trembled. She wondered how he was able to find out about this.
Kang Beichen sneered. "Do you think I’d never find out?" He probed, and laughed sarcastically. "Yue Chen, we are done! I am done with you. Funny how my parents warned me about you, but now I can see your real face. I don’t want to have anything to do with you anymore!"
After he said his piece, he walked out of the private room.
But how would Yue Chen let him leave? He was her second option, the big thigh she had to latch onto. Every other thing could happen, she would never let him go.
With these thoughts in her mind, she shot up to her feet. "Kang Beichen, if you walk out of the door, you’ll never see your child in this lifetime."
As expected, he stopped in his tracks, and turned to look at her.
With a look of expectation, he asked carefully. "What do you mean by that?"
Yue Chen lowered her head, a look of calculation flashing in her eyes. She rubbed her belly gently, and announced in a low voice. "I am... pregnant. I am carrying your child."
