Chapter 84: Come

Chapter 84: Come

"Come... come to us..."

Emira ’woke’ up in the same dream again. It was almost seven nights in a row now. And it did not change at all.

She always saw the three wolves calling to her. They were huge and dark, their bodies half hidden in the shadows. They never rushed toward her or even tried to get close to her..

They only ever stood there, waiting, as if they knew she would come no matter how long it took.

But Emira did not want to go to them. She already knew what would happen. Night after night, the dream came back to her.

She always found herself in a dark place, hearing the call, and then seeing the three wolves. Fear filled her, yet her dream body did not listen to her mind. No matter how much she tried to hold back, she always started walking toward them.

And each time, the dream ended the same way. She would reach the wolves, feel their power close around her, and then they’d tear her apart.

The pain would jolt her awake and she’d be shivering as if everything had been real.

Tonight was no different. She saw the wolves again, their eyes boring into her even in the dark.

She tried frantically to wake herself up, begged her body not to move. But she had no control. Her legs moved off their own accord towards them... And her own destruction.

The space between her and the wolves grew smaller and she felt her fear grow sharper. She wanted to scream but no sound came until she reached the wolves... she closed her eyes, bracing herself for the pain. At least that would jolt her awake.

But in the next second, the ending of the dream seemed to change... Instead of being torn apart, she felt the wolves get closer to her and she was sure she heard them murmur...’good girl..." And then, one of them, lowered his head, bumping its snout into her stomach... With panic, she realized she was falling back and that... finally woke her up...

She stared at the dark ceiling of the hospital bed and breathed in the air slowly. What was wrong with her? Why was she having such a dream? Could it be because of the bond with the three wolves? Why else would she dream something like this? But then... she now knew that the three wolves were those of the three princes... so why dream of them in their wolf form?

Just as she was wondering all this, trying to come up with some reasonable answer, she felt a faint movement at her side.

She frowned and turned her head towards the window, wondering if some stray had passed by. But in the next moment, her whole body went still as her breath caught in her throat. Slowly, she blinked, trying to make sure she was not seeing things. Then, she froze. Her mind was not playing games on her.

A wolf was there. Not in her dream, but here, in her room. A large wolf, its frame filling the entire space and its eyes locked straight onto her.

Emira’s mouth opened, but no sound came even though she wanted to scream.

Panic rushed through her, and she tried to scream again but her voice seemed to have betrayed her as the sound stuck in her throat.

Her fingers clenched at the sheets instead, her body frozen as the wolf took a step toward her.

Her heart pounded harder with every movement it made. She braced herself, expecting the same ending as her dream. It seemed this was the reason of her dream. The Moon Goddess had been trying to warn her to run and escape. But... as she stared at the wolf coming closer, she realised something was different.

This was only one wolf and not three... And its gaze... didn’t seem cold or cruel. If anything, it looked curious about her....

Inside her, something stirred. Her own wolf, which hardly ever made a sound, and preferred to remain forgotten, suddenly let out a low, steady purr. The sound shocked her. She had never heard her purr like that...And she felt a strange sensation take her over... as if her wolf... was trying to come out...

The massive wolf stopped by her bed and Emira blinked. This was huge... Its head was above her even while it stood, and Emira found herself staring at it in awe.

She had never seen a wolf this big before. Even Alpha Soier had never been this big...

The creature tilted its head slightly, as though studying her, and Emira’s breath caught again, wondering what it was that he wanted to do.

But, even as she wondered this, she realized that this wolf was someone from the Stormhold Pack. This was their territory so it had to be a Stormhold. She gulped and looked at the door.

Why did the wolf come here? What if it was a rogue? Right now, she had no connection to any pack... so even if some rogue did attack her, it would not be punishable...

Even as multiple thoughts assaulted her, the wolf started to move and Emira stiffened. What did it want to do?

Her heart beat so fast she thought it would burst out of her chest. The wolf moved slowly, circling the bed as if searching for something she could not see even though it continued to stare at her.

Emira dared not turn her eyes away from him as the wolf circled her bed continuously and then, as she wondered what it wanted to do, she watched the wolf, sprawl down near the foot of her bed. She blinked and stared at it.

It stared right back, before letting out a low growl. Emira jumped. Was it a warning... Hurriedly, she threw herself backwards and covered her face up to her chin, wondering if she’d understood the warning correctly.

The wolf did not look at her again, and seemingly satisfied with her, closed its eyes...leaving Emira lying there stiffly.
