Chapter 36 Did you miss me?

Everyone turned, and saw a man in a white, form-fitting suit standing in the middle of the alley.

The man was exceptionally handsome, his expression stern, hands tucked into his pockets, the tip of his shoe resting on a stone the size of an egg.

Seeing him, Yu He felt a flicker of surprise.

It was Qin Beiting.

With his glasses off, he exuded an icy aura.

The group of young thugs felt a natural sense of fear, but then they thought, he was alone, dressed in a suit and leather shoes; he was just trying to intimidate them.

"Who the hell are you? What business is it of yours?" one of the scrawny youths snarled.

"If you don't want to die, get lost!" Qin Beiting said coldly.

"Damn it, he's tired of living! Get him, I'll chop off his hands and feed them to the dogs!"

Huang Mao, recovering from the pain, spat and cursed.

His subordinates' eyes glinted fiercely as they drew their weapons. In this neighborhood, no one had ever dared to cross their boss.

Yu He's hand moved away from the silver needles hidden beneath her skirt, and she subtly retreated to the side.

She trusted that Qin Beiting, having served in the military, could handle a few hooligans.

"Heh~" Qin Beiting saw all of Yu He's small movements, a smile playing on his lips.

The young lady was quite calm, it seemed she trusted him implicitly.

In the next instant, the man lifted his long leg and kicked several stones on the ground.

The stones accurately struck the knees of the charging thugs, who yelped in pain and all fell to the ground, clutching their knees and howling.

"Bastard!"

Huang Mao saw Qin Beiting standing still, his hands still in his pockets, having so easily taken everyone down.

This show of force infuriated him.

"Pah! You're all weaklings!"

He spat, pulled a long watermelon knife from his back, and aggressively lunged at Qin Beiting.

Qin Beiting dodged with a sidestep, and walked towards Yu He with elegant strides.

"Why didn't you call me?"

Yu He glanced at Huang Mao, who was trailing behind Qin Beiting, wildly swinging his watermelon knife in frustration. But Qin Beiting's back seemed to have eyes, as he easily evaded every attack.

"Why would I call you?" she retorted.

"Didn't I tell you to call me if anything happened?"

Qin Beiting stopped in front of Yu He, his magnetic voice laced with a hint of grievance, a far cry from his imposing demeanor moments ago.

Yu He looked at Huang Mao, whose face was red with anger behind him: "..."

If Huang Mao's knife swings had any semblance of technique earlier, he was now so enraged by Qin Beiting's indifference that he was hacking wildly.

"Do you miss me?" Qin Beiting asked, seeing her silence.

"... Didn't you tell me not to worry?"

"That was just politeness. You really don't miss me?"

"..."

"Sad, heartbroken."

"..."

"I'm your patient, and you don't even care about my life or death."

"..."

Isn't he alive and well?

No...

What was with that cooing tone?

Was this truly the same man who had radiated such chilling intensity just moments ago?

"Damn it! Don't push your luck too far!"

Huang Mao swung his knife dozens of times, panting heavily, while Qin Beiting stood unharmed, chatting with someone, his hands still in his pockets!

Pushing his luck!

Truly pushing his luck!

His eyes were red with rage. If he couldn't touch Qin Beiting, couldn't he at least touch the helpless girl?

The blade gleamed as it suddenly slashed towards Yu He.

As the watermelon knife descended, a slender, well-defined hand grasped Huang Mao's wrist, and an unnerving chill erupted.

"Crack—"

Bone snapped.

"Clang—"

The watermelon knife fell to the ground.

"Ahhh—"

Huang Mao's scream pierced the sky, startling the birds in the nearby woods into flight.

Qin Beiting wiped his right hand with a wet wipe, his phoenix eyes icy as he looked at the curled-up Huang Mao on the ground, as if he were looking at a dead thing.

"Next time you encounter this situation, call me," he said to Yu He, turning around.

His tone was imperious, with a lingering ferocity.

Yu He's eyelashes fluttered slightly. This man changed moods like flipping a book.

At a time like this, she didn't dare to disobey, and gave a small, nasal hum, "Mm."

This single sound dissipated some of the man's aggression.

"Brother Ting!"

Just then, Chen Dong and Qi Nan arrived. Seeing the thugs lying on the ground and the residual oppressive aura radiating from the man, they had a rough idea of what had happened.

"The car's outside the alley, it can't get in," Qi Nan said.

Qin Beiting nodded, put an arm around Yu He's shoulder, and said, "Let's go."

As he turned, he gave Chen Dong a look.

Chen Dong immediately understood: Dispose of them!

On the way back, Qi Nan felt the atmosphere in the car was subtly quiet.

He dropped them off at Tian Yu and said to Yu He, "Miss Yu, Brother Ting is in your hands now."

With that, he quickly left.

Chen Dong had some reservations about Yu He's medical skills, but he trusted her completely, after all, some ailments required specialized treatment.

Yu He: "..."

Evening.

Yu He stood at the entrance of the master bedroom, Qin Beiting's room. To thank him for his help that afternoon, she had agreed during dinner to give him a physical check-up tonight.

Just as she was about to knock, she noticed the door was not fully closed, but ajar.

"Come in," a magnetic voice from inside the room called.

Yu He pushed the door open and was met with the sight of the man's bare back.

He was tall and well-built, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, his muscles beautifully defined, like a male model stepped out of a magazine.

The only flaw was that such a perfect back was marred by several hideous scars...

Yu He paused, her cheeks flushing, thinking she shouldn't look.

She immediately stepped back, intending to close the door, when a large, well-defined hand suddenly gripped the door.

"Where are you going?"

The man's magnetic voice, with its warm breath, sounded above her head.

Facing the man's firm abdominal muscles and well-defined lower abs, Yu He didn't know where to look, her ears turning red.

It wasn't the first time she had seen a naked body, and as a doctor, she saw no difference between men and women. But for some reason, facing this man, she felt a sense of awkwardness.

"Aren't you going to check my body?"

Qin Beiting looked at her blushing earlobes, which made her neck appear even fairer and more delicate. His throat felt a little dry.

"Yes, but you don't have to take off your clothes."

Yu He maintained a calm expression, but inside, she was trying hard to compose herself.

As she looked up, she saw a new scar on the man's left chest.

Although it had healed, it was clearly a gunshot wound!

Moreover, the location of the wound seemed familiar...

"That day, the person on the back mountain... was it you?!" Yu He blurted out instinctively.

Seeing that she had finally remembered, Qin Beiting's lips curled into a smile. "The life-saving favor..."

He said, his captivating eyes fixed on Yu He, and slowly he raised her hand, placing it on his left chest.

Yu He: "..."

His magnetic voice, laced with a hint of sensuality, continued:

"I'm not doing well in the Qin family. The most valuable thing I have is this body. How about I offer myself in return?"

The touch of his fingertips made Yu He's thick eyelashes tremble, her heart pound, and her cheeks burn.

She suspected this man was flirting with her!

She pulled her hand away, and in turn, placed her hand on his wrist.

After a moment, she said, "It's beyond saving. Send him to the crematorium."

Qin Beiting: "..."

I think I can still be saved.
