Liu Buli’s cheeks flushed at the question.
By now, he had nothing to resist.
After all, Lu Wuming was the person he had chosen. They loved each other, and that was beyond doubt. Moreover, they had already gone through the wedding ceremony. Even if the process was a bit rushed, the rites were completed, and it was time for what came next.
He lowered his head, coughed lightly, and tugged at the corner of his robe. Liu Buli said, “About this… we’re already married, so of course, I don’t object. It’s just, Wuming, Master feels that since we’ve come out this far, going back now would be a waste. What do you think?”
As Liu Buli spoke, his expression was both adorable and pitiful, like a child begging his parents to let him play a little longer.
Lu Wuming’s heart melted at the sight.
He knew that his life with his Master was long, and he also knew that this trip was indeed rare. So, with a stir in his heart, he couldn’t help but nod. He chuckled softly, “If Master wants to look around, Wuming will accompany you. This situation now is quite like when we first met.”
Liu Buli blinked, and the scene from back then also appeared in his mind.
It was the first time he had brought Lu Wuming down the mountain.
He had originally intended to find a secluded path to reach their destination as quickly as possible. But just because Lu Wuming glanced at the city lights, he unhesitatingly changed their direction and took Lu Wuming on a tour of the city.
Thinking back now, so much time had passed. The child who only knew how to cling to him and act spoiled had, at some point, grown into such a dependable adult.
Liu Buli lowered his head, hiding the blush on his cheeks and the smile on his lips.
His hand was held in Lu Wuming’s palm. The two of them, like elementary school students on a spring outing, walked down the mountain path and stone steps, not using any cultivation techniques, just strolling leisurely.
They passed through layers of dense forests and reached a slightly more open hillside. Lu Wuming looked up at the distance, then pointed to a spot, saying with a smile, “Master, let’s go there?”
Hearing him say this, Liu Buli, who had been happily looking down at Lu Wuming’s footprints, also looked up in the direction he was pointing.
It was a town that appeared quite large.
With a slight shift in his thoughts, Liu Buli’s gaze returned to Lu Wuming’s eyes.
He saw the same sparkle in them as he felt in his own.
So, he had also thought of the past…
Their eyes met, and they both smiled. Liu Buli nodded, but after taking two steps forward, he suddenly remembered something and exclaimed, “Ah! Right, Wuming, our clothes. We need to change them. After all, there are people in the town, and I’m afraid…”
“What if people see? It’s just two men wearing red together; it’s a very ordinary thing. If Master is still worried about this, then you’re thinking too much,” Lu Wuming said with great composure.
After speaking, he paused and added, “Of course, this is how others might see it. In my heart, today is my wedding day. I must wear these wedding robes until my bride takes them off in the bridal chamber. That is what should happen!”
This last addition made Liu Buli feel it was utterly unnecessary.
The warmth that had finally subsided on his cheeks was reignited by Lu Wuming’s words.
Where did this boy learn such things?
How did he become so fluent in saying such embarrassing words?
Liu Buli averted his gaze.
However, he didn’t say another word about changing clothes.
The two of them, hand in hand, quickened their pace and soon arrived at the town they had seen earlier.
Lu Wuming seemed determined to reminisce about the past. Not long after entering the town, he bought a skewer of candied haws and let Liu Buli bite off a piece of the sugar coating.
“Master doesn’t like the hawthorn inside, does he? I remember the first time you bought this for me, you took a bite and frowned in disgust,” Lu Wuming said with a smile.
Liu Buli nodded, “Yes, it’s too sour, completely different from what I used to eat. Your Master only likes sweet things. Why should I force myself to eat something so sour?”
Lu Wuming smiled and made no comment.
He simply brought the hawthorn, which Liu Buli had licked after eating the coating, back in front of him and said, “Master, take a lick. This hawthorn is sweet, not sour at all.”
He said it with great certainty.
Liu Buli was momentarily fooled by him and actually extended the tip of his tongue to lick the hawthorn.
It hadn’t been bitten yet, so it didn’t taste like much.
Just as he was about to say that Lu Wuming had tricked him again, he saw the other person take the skewer back. He took a bite of the hawthorn that Liu Buli had licked and chewed it in his mouth, saying, “Master, it is indeed extremely sweet.”
The implied meaning of his words was too obvious.
Liu Buli’s face immediately turned red. “You, you rascal…”
“What about me?” Lu Wuming smiled and said, “Master doesn’t understand. When you bit into this for the first time, you gave me the rest. I’ve always thought it was the sweetest food in the world.”
