Chapter 169 A Beautiful Misunderstanding

Wen Yan looked up and saw Leng Xunze staring at her. Her face flushed slightly as she asked, "Are you eating? Didn't you say you wanted me to accompany you for the meal? Why aren't you touching it."

Could staring at her be a substitute for food?

Leng Xunze replied with a calm expression, "I suddenly feel like the food isn't appetizing anymore."

"Ah?" Wen Yan looked bewildered.

She knew Leng Xunze was particularly picky, but this was a place he had chosen, so why would he find it unappealing?

Wen Yan, hearing this, raised an eyebrow and asked, "Then shall we leave?"

Leng Xunze smiled, a hint of tenderness in his eyes that even he hadn't noticed. "No need. I'm not feeling well today, so I won't eat tonight."

Wen Yan was very puzzled by this statement, always feeling like Leng Xunze had something more to say, but she didn't know how to phrase it. Later, she dismissed it as her imagination.

With this thought, she agreed, and the meal became extremely awkward.

Midway.

After Wen Yan's repeated persuasion, Leng Xunze finally picked up his chopsticks and ate a few bites.

She secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

If Leng Xunze hadn't eaten, she wouldn't have been able to eat either.

After the meal.

The two walked out of the hall. Wen Yan looked at him, "Mr. Leng, I've finished eating, so I'll be heading back now."

Leng Xunze looked at the car parked by the roadside. "I'll give you a ride."

"No, thank you." She was already embarrassed enough and just wanted to leave quickly.

Leng Xunze's voice deepened slightly upon hearing this. "It's so late, it's not safe for you to go back alone."

Saying this, he walked towards the car.

Wen Yan considered it. Leng Xunze had just helped her secure the collaboration. Would it seem too opportunistic if she left right after the meal?

After thinking it through, she followed him and sat in the passenger seat, looking at the man. "Thank you."

Leng Xunze looked straight ahead. "Is that your catchphrase?"

Wen Yan was momentarily stunned and replied, "Isn't it normal to say thank you when someone helps you?"

The man glanced at her with some displeasure. "Am I 'someone'?"

She suddenly felt like she had shot herself in the foot and smiled. "I was just giving an example."

Leng Xunze remained silent, his handsome face tense.

Wen Yan stole glances at Leng Xunze, noticing that he remained silent and his expression was terrifyingly cold. She turned her head to look out the window, not wanting to embarrass herself further.

Half an hour later.

Leng Xunze stopped the car downstairs from her apartment complex. Wen Yan turned to get out. She was about to say thank you, but realizing Leng Xunze seemed unwilling to hear it, she was about to close the car door when Leng Xunze looked at her and abruptly said, "Don't forget the banquet in two days. Clear your schedule for tomorrow morning."

Wen Yan remembered what he had said earlier about accompanying him to the banquet. She nodded, "Okay. If there's nothing else, I'll head up. Thank you."

With that, she turned and quickly left.

Leng Xunze watched the woman's retreating figure, his handsome face darkening. He took out his phone, found the chat with Wen Yan, and sent a message: "I don't want to hear 'Mr. Leng' tomorrow."

After sending it, he drove away.

As soon as Wen Yan returned home, she saw Leng Xunze's message. She frowned and replied with a question mark, then sat on the sofa to check if there was anything urgent at the studio.

A few seconds later, her phone rang again. She turned and picked up her phone. Leng Xunze had replied: "Don't you understand?"

Wen Yan felt speechless. It wasn't that she didn't understand; how was she supposed to address him? Mr. Leng, Young Master Leng, or husband?

She thought for a long time and replied: "Young Master Leng, Mr. Leng, or Mr. Leng. Choose any three. I'll call you whatever you want me to call you."

Surely this reply was sincere enough.

"Husband," she couldn't bring herself to say.

If it were before, she would have said it without hesitation.

Wen Yan waited for a while, but when Leng Xunze didn't reply, she put her phone aside and focused on her work on the computer.

He didn't reply until she went to bed.

The next morning.

As soon as Wen Yan got up and was eating breakfast in the kitchen, her phone suddenly rang.

She glanced at the caller ID and answered, "Hello."

Leng Xunze didn't mention last night's events and said in a somewhat cold tone, "I'm downstairs. Come out."

Upon hearing this, Wen Yan quickly put down her bowl and chopsticks and went to the window. She indeed saw the conspicuous car parked downstairs. She thought for a moment and replied, "Have you eaten?"

Leng Xunze paused, then said calmly, "No."

He rarely ate breakfast, usually just having a cup of coffee at the company.

Hearing this, Wen Yan pursed her lips. "I made congee and pickles. If you don't mind, you can come up and eat."

Leng Xunze's lips curved slightly. He had intended to go up, but then he suddenly remembered something and politely refused, "I'm not hungry right now."

If she invited him again, he would agree to come up and eat.

Wen Yan heard that he wasn't hungry and sensed that Leng Xunze's tone wasn't good. Wondering who had upset him now, she didn't insist further. "Then wait for me for a moment. I'll come down after I clean up the dishes."

Leng Xunze was taken aback and reluctantly replied, "Okay."

Half an hour later.

Wen Yan was wearing a versatile dress paired with white shoes, giving her a very mature aura.

She went downstairs, walked to the car, opened the door, and got in. "Let's go."

Leng Xunze glanced at her, noticing that no matter what she wore, she exuded a sense of sophistication. He responded and drove away.

In the car.

Wen Yan asked, "Where are we going this morning?"

Leng Xunze explained in a low voice, "You'll know when we get there."

She didn't say anything more. A while later, the car stopped in front of a luxury building. She was confused, wondering why Leng Xunze had brought her here.

As she was pondering, Leng Xunze, seeing her lost in thought, reminded her, "Get out of the car."

Wen Yan snapped back to reality, and the two of them got out and entered the luxury building.

Subsequently, they arrived in front of a boutique. Leng Xunze looked at Wen Yan. "Go in and choose a dress."

Although she was a bit confused, she still entered the store. Then she saw various dresses displayed in the cabinets in front of her, each priced outrageously high.

No wonder they called it luxury.

At this moment, a sales assistant approached her and introduced, "Hello, madam. If you see any dress you like, you can try it on. Our dresses have exclusive sourcing channels, so you won't find them elsewhere."

Wen Yan was taken aback, then she spotted a purple, waist-cinching dress. "Please get that dress for me to see."

The sales assistant followed her gaze to the purple dress and said with a smile, "Certainly."

Leng Xunze followed behind her.

Just as the sales assistant went to get the dress, Wen Yan was about to turn around when a woman suddenly ran over and bumped into her. Wen Yan was almost knocked over.

Seeing this, Leng Xunze grabbed her waist. Wen Yan felt a clear, crisp scent fill her nostrils. Seeing the man so close, her heart suddenly began to race.

Leng Xunze helped her to her feet. "Are you alright?"
