Chapter 234 Saving People

Mingyue did not hesitate, as lives were at stake, and plunged into the lake.

She held her breath, opened her eyes underwater, and searched for Ji Shiyou.

Fortunately, although the lake was deep, it was not vast and was regularly cleaned, so the water was clear.

She spotted Ji Shiyou underwater and was puzzled.

Although Ji Shiyou was submerged with his eyes closed, a barrier of light enveloped him.

The lake water did not even wet his clothes; he floated in the water like an inanimate object.

Despite the strange sight, Mingyue had no time to investigate.

She swam quickly to Ji Shiyou, grabbed his arm, and began to ascend.

Just then, behind Mingyue, Ji Shiyou, whose eyes had been closed, suddenly opened them and tightly clasped his arm around Mingyue's neck.

Caught off guard, Mingyue instinctively gasped, disrupting her breathing.

Cold lake water rushed into her mouth and nose, filling her lungs.

She coughed uncontrollably, and the more she coughed, the more water she inhaled.

Yet, she struggled to tow Ji Shiyou's body towards the surface.

But Ji Shiyou behind her seemed to weigh a thousand pounds, dragging her down towards the lakebed.

Mingyue's strength waned, and she drifted further from the surface.

Finally, she stopped struggling and sank to the bottom of the lake with Ji Shiyou.

"No."

At that moment, Ji Shiyou's previously fierce gaze cleared instantly, and he roared.

Then, the light barrier that had enveloped him flared brightly.

A red shadow was expelled from his body – the red-clothed Yin spirit raised by Guisha.

Guisha had learned from the Twin Evils that Ji Shiyou was indeed severely injured.

Had it not been for the appearance of a mysterious woman, they would have already taken Ji Shiyou's life.

Hearing this, Guisha's heart stirred. He could not find the mysterious woman and could not avenge the Twin Evils for now.

However, he bore Ji Shiyou's severe injuries in mind.

Years ago, when Ji Shiyou had ambushed them, Guisha had sent a Yin spirit to attack him.

But for some reason, the Yin spirit could not get close and posed no threat to Ji Shiyou.

Later, after much investigation, Guisha concluded that Ji Shiyou, being in his prime with robust vital energy, repelled Yin spirits.

But now, Ji Shiyou, having survived a car accident and suffering severe injuries, must be depleted in vital energy.

This was the perfect opportunity to kill Ji Shiyou. Thus, he left the red-clothed Yin spirit to find Ji Shiyou.

If there was an opportunity, she was to strike directly and kill Ji Shiyou.

The red-clothed Yin spirit first went to Ji's Hospital but could not find him.

Then, it came to the old Ji family residence and found Ji Shiyou by the lake, lost in thought and completely defenseless.

In reality, Ji Shiyou's resistance to Yin spirits was not due to his robust vital energy.

It was the protective moonlight left by the Moon God, which was connected to his mind.

Because of Mingyue's words, his mind was dejected, making him like an empty shell.

The moonlight's power weakened significantly. The red-clothed Yin spirit saw an opportunity and possessed him.

It controlled his body, leading him into the lake, intending to drown Ji Shiyou.

However, at the brink of death, the moonlight sensed Ji Shiyou's life was in danger and automatically protected him, forming a barrier.

Ji Shiyou's consciousness was controlled. Seeing Mingyue about to rescue Ji Shiyou, the red-clothed Yin spirit immediately attacked.

Mingyue was caught off guard. Seeing Mingyue in mortal peril, Ji Shiyou regained control of his body and his senses.

His concern for Mingyue's life was intense, and the moonlight regained its power, expelling the red-clothed Yin spirit from his body.

Upon leaving his body, the red-clothed Yin spirit let out a roar, and six-inch-long black claws extended from its fingers.

It lunged at Ji Shiyou, intending to kill him underwater.

Ji Shiyou, with his mortal eyes, could not see the Yin spirit attacking him, even though he had felt another power controlling him earlier.

Moreover, his attention was focused on Mingyue beside him.

He pulled Mingyue, who was sinking, and brought his mouth to hers.

Mingyue, having choked on water, was losing consciousness and struggling to breathe.

Without fresh air, even if she reached the surface, her brain could be damaged.

Ji Shiyou had no other thought than to give Mingyue his breath.

Mingyue's lungs burned, and her consciousness was fading.

Suddenly, she felt something soft and cold press against her lips.

Then, she felt air enter her mouth and instinctively grabbed Ji Shiyou's head.

She sucked fiercely on Ji Shiyou's mouth, leaving him stunned and bewildered.

At that moment, the red-clothed Yin spirit's claws were inches from his nape.

One more inch, and Ji Shiyou would be decapitated. But it did not succeed.

Instead, it was repelled because, in the critical moment, the light barrier around Ji Shiyou reappeared.

Frustrated, the red-clothed Yin spirit did not give up and swooped towards Ji Shiyou again with a howl.

By then, Mingyue had regained her breath and her senses.

She saw Ji Shiyou looking at her with wide eyes.

And she was holding Ji Shiyou's head, their lips still pressed together.

But she had no time to ponder how she ended up kissing Ji Shiyou.

Because she saw a red-clothed Yin spirit with claws raised, approaching them.

Mingyue pulled Ji Shiyou aside and formed a hand seal, striking directly at the Yin spirit.

Her Demon Subduing Hand Seal was specifically designed to break evil spirits and was far more damaging than Ji Shiyou's passive moonlight defense.

The red-clothed Yin spirit let out a wail and was sent flying out of the water.

"Trying to escape? No way!"

Seeing the Yin spirit, Mingyue instantly understood that Guisha from the Seven Evils had been sent.

Only he could command Yin spirits to kill. Therefore, she would not let this red-clothed Yin spirit escape.

She shot out from underwater, faster than the Yin spirit, and flew into the air.

She grabbed the Yin spirit and conjured a talisman, slapping it onto the Yin spirit's head.

The Yin spirit wailed and turned into a wisp of smoke, entering the talisman.

Mingyue beckoned, and the golden talisman flew into her hand.

As Mingyue climbed ashore, intending to return to the villa, she suddenly remembered Ji Shiyou was still underwater.

Just as she was about to re-enter the water to save him, the water churned, and Ji Shiyou emerged, shaking his head, and came ashore.

"I went a bit too hard just now!"

Mingyue thought to herself, seeing Ji Shiyou's state.

Then she remembered kissing Ji Shiyou underwater to give him breath and felt her face flush.

"Um, I was a bit rough underwater just now. I apologize!"

Mingyue said softly. Although she had pulled Ji Shiyou a bit forcefully, it was to help him evade the Yin spirit's attack. She hoped Ji Shiyou wouldn't mind.

"It's okay, I liked it."

Ji Shiyou tilted his head, a look of joy on his face. Mingyue was bewildered. Did Ji Shiyou have a masochistic streak?
