Returning to his home country was not an easy matter for Long Xiao. He had lost his ID card and mobile phone, making it impossible to prove his identity.
The middle-aged man took Long Xiao from the small town to Polia City and brought him to the local Chinese consulate.
The consular staff were very friendly. They arranged accommodation for him and let him stay temporarily.
Long Xiao dared not reveal that he was from the Long family. After the incident in Funiu Town, the Long family had publicly exposed his identity, and the threats from all sides had increased.
After five days of waiting, the consular staff finally completed all the necessary procedures for him, bought him a plane ticket, and sent him to the airport.
Long Xiao changed into a regular suit. His fair face had a radiant sheen, giving anyone who saw him an aura of sacred inviolability.
The plane was an Eastern Airlines flight, a Chinese airline. Seeing the large aircraft, a sense of familiarity rose within Long Xiao.
Boarding was smooth. As the plane began to taxi on the runway, Long Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. He could finally return home and see Lin Xuan.
When he was in Donghai, Long Xiao would often go for several days without seeing Lin Xuan and wouldn't feel too much longing. This time, however, the person he missed the most was Lin Xuan.
Sitting in his seat, Long Xiao closed his eyes, contemplating what he should do upon returning to Donghai.
While he was lost in thought, Long Xiao suddenly heard someone shout, "There's someone outside!"
Long Xiao heard a gasp, opened his eyes, and turned his head to see someone floating in the air outside the window, keeping pace with the plane.
"Isn't that the middle-aged man?" Long Xiao exclaimed in surprise.
Long Xiao never expected that the middle-aged man who had brought him to the consulate could fly.
The moment Long Xiao saw the middle-aged man, the middle-aged man also saw him.
"Goodbye, young man. The road ahead is long. Don't stray from the right path. We will meet again."
After speaking, the middle-aged man quickly retreated and vanished into the clouds.
"He came to see me off. Who is he?" Long Xiao murmured to himself again.
An old man sitting next to Long Xiao looked at him and said, "Young man, are you feeling unwell to be talking to yourself?"
Long Xiao shook his head and said, "No, I'm just having a hard time accepting the fact that people can fly."
The old man chuckled and said, "I have trouble accepting it too. What you see with your own eyes isn't always the truth, and what you don't see doesn't necessarily mean it didn't happen."
"Sir, your words are very profound, like a philosopher's," Long Xiao said with a smile.
"I wouldn't call myself a philosopher, but I do study philosophy. I am a professor of philosophy at Jingcheng University."
"Jingcheng University, my sister studies there. It's a good university, and your president is a very good person."
Long Xiao struck up a conversation with the old professor, and they found each other very agreeable.
As they were happily conversing, someone suddenly shouted loudly, "Everyone, stay put in your seats. Otherwise, it will be very dangerous."
The speaker's Chinese was awkward, his voice was rough and slightly hoarse.
Long Xiao turned his head and saw four masked young men, armed with plastic rifles, shouting and heading towards the cockpit.
The old professor glanced at the four hijackers and then turned back to chat with Long Xiao, as if these four people didn't exist.
Long Xiao smiled and said nothing more, continuing his conversation with the old professor.
They chatted about philosophy and then about health preservation, as if they had known each other for a long time.
Just as they were engrossed in their conversation, gunshots suddenly rang out, and people began shouting and running out of the cockpit.
A few more gunshots followed. Long Xiao looked up and saw that the captain and co-pilot had been shot in the head at the cockpit door and lay in a pool of blood.
"Damn it, who's going to fly the plane if we kill both pilots?" one hijacker kicked another hijacker to the ground and roared.
The hijacker who was kicked didn't realize his mistake. He got up and shouted, "You said we should kill one to warn a hundred, so I killed two. Was I wrong?"
Seeing the other's indignant look, the hijacker who did the kicking slapped him.
After a crisp crack, the assailant said, "Are you stupid? Damn it, go and fly the plane!"
"Why don't you go? I don't know how."
"If you don't know how to fly, why kill the pilots?"
Another hijacker rushed out of the cockpit, saying, "This is bad, the plane is descending. Does anyone know how to fly?"
Everyone looked at the four hijackers, saying nothing. Long Xiao looked at the old professor and asked, "Professor Lu, what should we do in this situation?"
Professor Lu smiled and said, "This is not your strong suit. You are a doctor, after all."
"They are already dead."
"Just dead, they should still be savable. In fact, humans are biological organisms, and their bodies are all the same. The only difference is their thoughts."
"The body can be saved, but they are dead, and their thoughts are gone," Long Xiao raised his question.
Professor Lu shook his head and said, "Their thoughts are still there and won't disappear for a while. Everyone's thoughts are most closely connected to their own bodies. Once the body recovers, the thoughts will return."
"Professor Lu, what you're referring to as thoughts is actually the soul."
Professor Lu shook his head and said, "No, there is no soul. We must believe in science. Superstition is unreliable."
Long Xiao burst into laughter and said, "Yes, superstition is indeed unreliable."
Hearing Long Xiao's laughter, the hijacker who had been beaten earlier pointed his gun at Long Xiao and said, "What are you laughing at? Are you happy that I got beaten?"
Long Xiao stood up, shook his head, and said, "I'm laughing that someone as smart as you would get beaten. What kind of situation is this?"
The hijacker agreed with Long Xiao's words and said, "You're right. I won't kill you. Sit down."
Long Xiao shook his head again and said, "I won't sit. The plane will crash if we don't do something."
Long Xiao went to the captain's side and looked at the body on the ground. The bullet had entered the back of the head and exited the forehead; the man was undeniably dead.
Long Xiao had treated all sorts of difficult illnesses, but he had never managed to save a dead person.
He crouched down and placed his hand on the captain's forehead, saying, "Captain, I am a doctor. I will heal your wounds. Get up, or the plane will crash."
Life force entered the captain's body, and the wound healed at a visible rate. A few minutes later, the captain sat up. He looked around and, seeing the hijackers, cried out in fear and hid behind Long Xiao.
Long Xiao looked at the hijackers and said, "He's very afraid of you. Why don't you kill yourselves? Otherwise, he won't dare to fly the plane."
The four hijackers aimed their guns at Long Xiao. Long Xiao looked back at Professor Lu and asked, "Professor Lu, how should I deal with these four hijackers now?"
"Let them die. They should not be alive."
Long Xiao nodded and his gaze fell on the four hijackers. "All of you, die. You should not be alive in this world."
Demonic energy swept over the four hijackers. They suddenly felt their hearts stop beating and their breathing become difficult.
Their hands went limp, and their guns fell to the ground. The four hijackers clutched their chests and slowly collapsed.
Seeing the four hijackers fall, Professor Lu's face broke into a look of relief and satisfaction.
Long Xiao crouched down and placed his hand on the co-pilot's head. In less than a minute, the co-pilot also stirred and opened his eyes.
The passengers on the plane, who had witnessed Long Xiao revive two dead people and kill four hijackers with a single sentence, stared at him with their mouths agape.
"He's a god!"
"Immortal doctor, a peerless medical immortal!"
Exclamations of praise filled the air. Long Xiao, as if nothing had happened, returned to his seat and resumed his conversation with Professor Lu.
The captain and co-pilot stared at Long Xiao in a daze. A flight attendant shouted, "Captain, the plane is about to crash!"
The captain and co-pilot rushed into the cockpit. Soon, the continuously descending plane began to ascend, and cheers of relief erupted from the cabin.
