Chapter 1517 It Has Happened Once Before

After treatment, Wei Yumeng recovered quickly and was discharged from the hospital not long after.

Today was officially her discharge day.

"I always feel like I've been here for a very long time," Wei Yumeng looked at the hospital room, feeling a sense of reluctance.

Mu Linjing's mood was complex. Hadn't Wei Yumeng slept here for a long time?

During that period, they had been searching everywhere for a way to save Wei Yumeng, and she had been sleeping here all along.

It had been at least two weeks.

"Do you want to stay here forever?" Mu Linjing shook her head helplessly.

Wei Yumeng said awkwardly, "I didn't mean that. Oh, right." She suddenly changed the subject, "You still haven't told me what's wrong with me?"

Wei Yumeng remembered what happened before she fainted. She had been at a press conference then and had fainted without any warning.

Mu Linjing opened her mouth but couldn't speak.

She had originally intended to tell Wei Yumeng about Wen Xueshan's actions. She believed Wei Yumeng had the right to know.

However, something like this had already happened once before...

"Yichen, why are you stopping me? I think Yumeng has the right to know the truth."

Zhan Yichen also looked troubled. "What you're saying makes sense, but have you considered the consequences if Sister-in-law finds out that Wen Xueshan poisoned her, and Brother let her out? Do you remember how Sister-in-law reacted last time?"

"But..." Mu Linjing felt frustrated. More importantly, she believed that if Wei Yumeng knew the whole story, she might understand.

Would she really understand?

Mu Linjing hesitated after all.

"I know you might think Sister-in-law is always reasonable and might understand Brother's actions, but Sister-in-law and Brother just had a fight because of Wen Xueshan. I really can't guarantee that Sister-in-law won't overthink things after learning about it," Zhan Yichen said, rubbing his temples.

He didn't want to be in this situation, where it seemed like there were always problems no matter what.

But for the sake of both of them, he had to do this.

"I understand," Mu Linjing finally agreed with Zhan Yichen's plan.

Perhaps for the greater good, a little concealment wouldn't hurt.

But every time she saw Wei Yumeng being kept in the dark, she still wanted to tell her.

Wei Yumeng saw Mu Linjing spacing out and reminded her, "Jingjing? Jingjing?"

Mu Linjing snapped back to attention. "Huh? What is it?"

Wei Yumeng was helpless. Recently, whenever she asked about this, Mu Linjing seemed distracted.

"I've handled the discharge procedures," Zhan Mohan said, walking into the ward.

He reached out to touch Wei Yumeng's forehead with concern, as if to double-check if she was fit for discharge.

Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Mohan helplessly, "Don't worry, the doctor has already examined me. I'm really fine."

Zhan Mohan nodded, but his expression remained unsettled.

Mu Linjing glanced at her phone. It was a message from Zhan Yichen saying he was waiting downstairs with the car.

They then walked out together.

But just as they opened the door, Wen Xueshan swaggered in.

"Miss Wei, it seems you've recovered. That's good."

Wei Yumeng looked at Wen Xueshan, confused. Wasn't she supposed to be in the detention center? How could she be here?

Mu Linjing stepped forward to shield Wei Yumeng. "What do you want?"

Wen Xueshan put on a wronged expression. "I'm Miss Wei's savior, how can you treat me like this?"

Mu Linjing scoffed. She really had the nerve to say that.

Wei Yumeng was a bit surprised. "You saved me?"

Wen Xueshan nodded. "Miss Wei fell ill, and I helped the doctor cure you."

"Is that so?" Wei Yumeng looked at Zhan Mohan.

Zhan Mohan nodded slightly.

Although Wei Yumeng always felt that Wen Xueshan was targeting her, one thing was separate from another. Since Wen Xueshan had helped her, she should thank her.

"Then thank you."

She paused and thought, "Right, why don't we have a meal together today to thank Miss Wen?"

"You want to thank her?" Mu Linjing said incredulously.

She knew the whole story but couldn't say it. "If you want to eat, eat among yourselves. I'm not going!"

With that, Mu Linjing turned and left.

Wei Yumeng assumed Mu Linjing was still angry about their previous argument, so she didn't suspect anything.

"In that case, Miss Wen, I think a meal for the three of us should be fine."

"That would be wonderful," Wen Xueshan nodded.

Although Wei Yumeng was relatively normal along the way, chatting casually with Wen Xueshan, Zhan Mohan seemed to consciously avoid Wen Xueshan, always staying close to Wei Yumeng.

Wen Xueshan understood. Her previous interactions with Zhan Mohan had been merely a transaction. Now that both parties had obtained what they wanted, they were likely just ordinary friends, or perhaps Zhan Mohan didn't even consider her a friend.

But at least she had regained the opportunity to stand by Zhan Mohan's side. As for how to proceed, it depended on her future plans.

And right now, this was an opportunity.

The three chose a restaurant near the hospital. Given that Wei Yumeng had just recovered from a serious illness, they ordered relatively light dishes.

However, Wen Xueshan still ordered a bottle of red wine.

"Miss Wei, I know I've done many things wrong to you before, but... but I have truly learned my lesson. Life in the detention center was not easy, and I've reflected on everything I've done. I've even thought that if time could turn back, I would never have done those things."

After a few glasses of wine, Wen Xueshan was clearly a bit drunk.

"So after I got out, I wanted to do something to make amends. Although I don't expect you to completely forgive me just for this, at least I can have a clear conscience."

She said, and reached for the wine glass again.

Wei Yumeng stopped her helplessly, "Miss Wen, you're drunk. Don't drink any more."

However, Zhan Mohan next to them seemed oblivious to Wen Xueshan's actions and even served her food. "Don't just focus on others. You haven't eaten anything today either. Try this dish."

Wei Yumeng took a bite and said, "It tastes quite good."

Zhan Mohan smiled. "I'm glad you like it. If it's not enough, we can order more later."

Wen Xueshan watched their interaction, her heart filled with jealousy, and she could only drink another glass of wine.

She wouldn't let Wei Yumeng continue to be smug.
