Chapter 168 Do You Want to Divorce Me?

Zhan Mohan returned to the room and closed the door, taking out the medical kit from under the drawer.

"Check where you're hurt first."

"I'm fine, you go first." I didn't want Old Master Zhan to worry again.

Zhan Mohan's brows furrowed, his tone laced with displeasure.

"If I tell you to go first, you go first."

Wei Yumeng didn't know what she had done to provoke him. They were fine just now, so why was he suddenly so angry? She was just worried that his injury might be more serious.

She was alone, no one to care for her, and her injury wouldn't implicate others. Zhan Mohan was different; he was the pillar of the Zhan family, the apple of Old Master Zhan's eye.

If anything were to happen to him, she would be held accountable by the Zhan family.

She insisted, "Let me treat you first. You've had alcohol, so you can rest immediately after applying the medicine."

A hint of anger flickered in Zhan Mohan's deep eyes. He ignored her, pulled her wrist, and sat her down on the edge of the bed. He took out disinfectant, anti-inflammatory medicine, and cotton swabs from the medical kit.

He rolled up Wei Yumeng's sleeve and applied medicine to her wound. The scraped area was quite deep, and the disinfectant stung, making Wei Yumeng gasp.

"It hurts a little..."

"If we don't treat it quickly, it will become inflamed, and it will hurt much more than this."

Zhan Mohan held her wrist, bent down slightly, and blew on the wound. Wei Yumeng's expression froze. The man's breath on her wound was cool, and the pain gradually lessened.

She could hardly imagine Zhan Mohan performing such a caring and gentle act.

Zhan Mohan suddenly looked up, his eyes seeming to flicker with light, and his voice was no longer as harsh as before.

"Is it better now?"

"Much... much better." His sudden gentleness made Wei Yumeng a little flustered.

This man's moods changed faster than flipping a book. She could never guess what he was thinking.

"Where else?"

"My leg." Wei Yumeng rolled up her pant leg. She didn't know where she had scraped it, but there was a long gash. She realized now that even her pants were stained with a large patch of blood.

When she rolled up her pants, the fabric touched the wound, causing Wei Yumeng to frown and clench her fists.

Zhan Mohan's brows furrowed even deeper. "When I asked you earlier, didn't you say you were fine?"

Hearing him inexplicably angry again, coupled with what Old Master Zhan had said in the living room earlier, Wei Yumeng's grievances surged like a flood.

Her nose stung, and tears streamed down her face like pearls from a broken string, splashing onto Zhan Mohan's hand. He paused and looked up.

Wei Yumeng lowered her head, like a child who had done something wrong, sobbing softly.

Zhan Mohan's initially angry heart softened instantly. Although the coldness on his face did not diminish in the slightest, his tone was much better than before.

"Wei Yumeng, don't try that with me. You think I won't scold you just because you cry."

"I didn't mean to. I was so scared that I didn't know where I was hurt. Your grandfather is going to make you divorce me because you're injured. How dare I leave your injury untreated?"

If Zhan Mohan had an accident, she would be a sinner in the eyes of the Zhan family.

Hearing her complaint, the corners of Zhan Mohan's eyes curved slightly, softening his features.

"You mean... you don't want to divorce me?"

"Does it matter whether I divorce you or not?" When had her marriage, her life, ever been her own decision?

Zhan Mohan placed his hand on her shoulder, looking at her intently.

"All I'm asking now is, do you want to divorce me?"

Wei Yumeng's pupils trembled, her heart pounding like a drum. She dared not tell Zhan Mohan that she didn't want to divorce him. She felt that if she said it, she would be letting down Gu Shuyi.

Even though she had pleaded with him back then, he still wouldn't let her see Gu Shuyi. Just from seeing her embrace Xin Ran at the hospital, he had concluded they were having an affair. To teach her a lesson, he had even used his influence to suppress Xin Ran's family.

But now, if she angered Zhan Mohan again, there would be no room for negotiation regarding the Xin Ran family's situation.

She shook her head. "No."

Zhan Mohan's lips curved slightly upwards, his expression still calm.

"Mm, I understand."

Wei Yumeng, with tears still on her face, was stunned by Zhan Mohan's reply.

"That's it?"

"What else do you want? Should I set off firecrackers to celebrate that you finally don't want to divorce me?"

When had she ever been the one to bring up divorce? It made him, Zhan Mohan, seem like a man no woman wanted.

He lowered his head, continued to apply medicine to her wound, and handed her a tissue.

"Don't cry. If someone sees you later, they'll think I'm bullying you."

Wei Yumeng took the tissue and wiped away her tears.

"I didn't mean to cry, I just couldn't control my emotions."

Zhan Mohan knew that, in his memory, Wei Yumeng had never shed a single tear in front of him. Today, she had suddenly broken down like a floodgate, which also left him somewhat at a loss.

He had never comforted a girl before and didn't know how to. When women who tried to get close to him cried, he would remain indifferent and simply leave.

When Wei Yumeng was crying just now, his heart had actually ached and felt something.

Afterward, they sat in silence. Wei Yumeng felt the atmosphere was a bit strange, but she couldn't quite pinpoint it. After applying the medicine, she spoke up.

"Let me help you apply yours."

"No need, I'll do it myself." Zhan Mohan picked up the medicine and began to apply it to his wound. Wei Yumeng didn't stop him, just watched him quietly from the side.

When Zhan Mohan took off his coat, Wei Yumeng noticed a wound on his back.

She stepped forward and held his arm. "Wait, you have a wound here too."

"Where is it? If it's not deep, we can ignore it."

"Sit down properly and let me see." Wei Yumeng frowned, pulled the hem of his shirt out of his trousers, lifted the edge, and saw a very deep cut, which he probably didn't know how he got.

Zhan Mohan saw that Wei Yumeng was silent and turned his body slightly.

"How is it?"

"Let's apply some medicine first. It will scab over in a couple of days."

"Since it's nothing serious, there's no need to trouble yourself. Hurry up and tidy up and rest."

Zhan Mohan said this and prepared to get up.

"No, if this wound isn't treated, it will definitely get inflamed tomorrow. Since we've already seen it, applying medicine will only take a few minutes. Are you rushing off to do something else?"

Her voice was a few degrees higher than before, even carrying a hint of assertiveness.

A flicker of surprise crossed Zhan Mohan's eyes, and then he let her have her way.

When Wei Yumeng applied medicine to him, she was very careful, her hands were light, for fear of hurting him. However, her hands couldn't help but tremble, and she accidentally poked him with the cotton swab, causing the man to gasp in pain.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to."

"Are you getting revenge on me?"

He hadn't been that rough with her earlier.

"I'll be gentler." Wei Yumeng was more careful this time, but Zhan Mohan still seemed to feel pain. He suddenly turned and grabbed Wei Yumeng's hand.

Wei Yumeng wasn't sitting firmly, and she was leaning to the side. When the man grabbed her arm, there was a buffer, causing her hand to shake. Not only did she spill the medicine, but she also leaned forward onto Zhan Mohan.

In that moment, time seemed to stand still.

Her brown eyes stared intently at Zhan Mohan, feeling his breath on her face, her heart about to leap out of her chest.

"You..."

Before she could finish speaking, the man reached out, cupped the back of her head, and leaned in to kiss her.
