Chapter 27 She Is Pregnant, Don't Cause a Life!

Her heart teetered on the brink of despair, a stark contrast to the triumphant smile plastered on Li Huan’s face.

Just as the door was about to close, Zhan Mohan suddenly stopped.

“Oh, right, President Li, I must remind you, this woman is pregnant. Be careful not to cause a life to be lost.”

Li Huan was immediately shocked. “What, this woman is pregnant? President Zhan, are you tricking me?”

Zhan Mohan sneered, “She’s just a nobody woman. If President Li doesn’t believe me, you can proceed with your business now.”

Everyone in the industry knew that although Li Huan was fond of women, he was exceptionally cautious in this regard. For years, he had never had a child with any woman, nor would he ever touch a woman who had been pregnant.

He believed it brought bad luck.

Therefore, his womanizing had its principles; he didn't just take anyone.

Li Huan’s mood instantly plummeted to the depths. He irritably scratched his head and then unbuckled his belt to her.

“Damn it! I had no idea you were pregnant. Get out, get out!”

Wei Yumeng hadn’t expected Li Huan to let her go. Without a moment’s hesitation, she stumbled off the sofa and ran to Zhan Mohan’s side.

Li Huan fastened his belt and looked up to see Zhan Mohan still there.

“President Zhan, do you want to have a few more drinks with me?”

Zhan Mohan smiled thinly, “Didn’t President Li just say he wanted Wei Yumeng to get the contract back?”

The implication was that since he, the principal, was present, Wei Yumeng’s efforts were no longer needed.

Li Huan was baffled. He lowered his head and chuckled.

“President Zhan, perhaps you didn’t understand what I meant. This woman needs to serve me until I’m satisfied before the project is signed. But now she’s pregnant. I got nothing, and my mood was greatly affected. It’s already generous of me not to settle the score with her.”

“Is that so? It seems President Li intends to go back on his word. Then don’t blame me for not showing you any courtesy.”

The smile in his eyes was profound, his gaze narrowed, making him resemble a cunning fox.

“Fang Xun, this private room should have a camera, right? If the video of President Li attempting to molest our company’s female employee were to be handed over to Grandpa, President Li might have to go back to confinement for a few days. Those ladies outside will miss you, President Li, and worry.”

It had long been rumored that the Li family patriarch was tired of Li Huan’s debauchery and womanizing, having repeatedly ordered him not to neglect his responsibilities, or else he would have all his credit cards frozen and be confined at home for months, forcing him to behave.

Before Fang Xun could even respond, Li Huan was almost jumping with rage.

“Zhan Mohan, you insidious scoundrel, you’re playing me.”

“Then, this project, are you signing it or not?”

He had, in essence, conceded, his words dripping with provocation.

Li Huan gritted his teeth, his face contorting with a myriad of emotions, as dark as the bottom of a pot. In the end, he could only compromise.

“You, Zhan Mohan, you set a trap for me long ago, didn’t you? Just waiting to force my hand. We have a long time ahead of us; let’s see who plays whom to death!”

Zhan Mohan’s voice was calm and steady, a faint smile still gracing his lips.

“Since President Li has such special requirements, I will certainly accompany you to the very end.”

Li Huan pulled out the contract, glaring, and reluctantly signed his name on it. He slapped it onto the table.

“Take your contract and get out… go.”

He was about to curse when he met Zhan Mohan’s fierce and chilling eyes, and immediately changed his tune.

After Zhan Mohan and his entourage left, Li Huan frantically searched for the camera Zhan Mohan had mentioned. He scoured the entire private room but found nothing. It was then that he realized he had been tricked by Zhan Mohan and roared in fury.

“Zhan Mohan, how dare you play me!”

Li Huan’s face contorted in rage. He raised his hand and swept all the bottles on the table to the floor, shattering them.

Wei Yumeng sat in the car, her emotions finally starting to stabilize. But the mention of the camera by Zhan Mohan brought a surge of anger.

Normal KTVs usually only had cameras in the hallways and the main hall, not in private rooms. For Zhan Mohan to say that Li Huan’s private room had a camera meant he had meticulously planned everything, installing a camera in advance to threaten Li Huan into signing the contract.

He was using her, without a second thought, even at the cost of her purity.

Little did Zhan Mohan know that Wei Yumeng was currently fabricating a conspiracy theory in her mind. He, on the other hand, was thinking that since the contract was successfully signed, she deserved some credit.

He was a man who always rewarded and punished fairly; he wouldn't shortchange her on what she was owed.

“When we get back, I’ll notify the finance department to add an extra month’s salary to your pay, as a reward.”

Upon hearing this, Wei Yumeng shrugged sarcastically.

“Doesn’t President Zhan think a mere month’s salary as a reward is too little?”

Was her purity only worth a month’s salary in his eyes? Moreover, why was he so certain she wouldn’t pursue the matter?

Or did he simply believe she was the kind of woman who could be easily bought, as long as she was given money?

Zhan Mohan hadn't expected her to be so greedy. He cast a sideways glance at Wei Yumeng.

“Do you know how much your monthly salary is? You merely suffered a fright. Why do you expect exorbitant compensation?”

Wei Yumeng became even more infuriated by his words.

“If I want high compensation, why did you turn a blind eye and threaten to leave when I was begging you inside earlier? You clearly had the ability to save me, so why didn’t you?”

All his words were a preamble to the contract. To achieve his goal, he could disregard her safety and her purity.

Such a man was truly terrifying.

Zhan Mohan found her unreasonable, and an inexplicable displeasure tightened his lips.

This woman was too ungrateful.

He let out a cold snort from his nose, “If I hadn’t saved you, would you be sitting here safe and sound right now?”

“That’s because all of this was your plan…”

“Wei Yumeng, remember your place. You are not qualified to speak to me like this. Don’t forget, you are a sinner. You do whatever I tell you to do!”

The man suddenly shot Wei Yumeng a cold, sharp glare, making her shrink her neck and dare not speak further.

Forget it. What was the point of reasoning with a man who only cared about profit? Furthermore, in his heart, she was still the culprit who caused his paralysis.

She suddenly lost the desire to speak. Upon returning to the Zhan residence, she was the first to get out of the car and entered the living room without looking back.

Fang Xun watched Wei Yumeng’s irate back and suddenly felt puzzled.

“President Zhan, why didn’t you explain to Miss Wei just now that you didn’t actually arrange all of this beforehand, and you were rushing over simply because you were afraid she would be in danger?”

Zhan Mohan frowned and flatly denied it. “Who said I was afraid for her safety? I was afraid she would mess up this contract!”

Fang Xun covered his mouth and smiled, not arguing further.

He and President Zhan were originally going out on business when they happened to overhear Mu Linjing and a few colleagues discussing Ning Tao taking Wei Yumeng to see Li Huan.

It was common knowledge that Li Huan was a lecher. The reason the cooperation had been stalled was simply that none of the female employees who went from the company had caught Li Huan’s eye. Who would have thought that Wei Yumeng, brought along by Ning Tao this time, would inadvertently capture Li Huan’s attention?

Before entering, Zhan Mohan glanced back at Fang Xun and gave an order.

“Tomorrow, have Ning Tao come to my office.”

“Yes.”
