Chapter 104 Making a Connection

Wei Yumeng sneered, casting a contemptuous glance at Yin Fang.

"It seems you don't intend to give me my mother's things easily."

Seeing Wei Yumeng's face change, Wei Anguo quickly stepped forward to placate her.

"That's not what we mean, we're family, we just want to ask for your help."

Wei Yumeng coldly eyed Wei Anguo and scoffed.

"What, Dad, do you want me to set up Wei Jin with Gao Dazhuang, or perhaps have Gao Dazhuang marry Wei Jin directly?"

Her words were like a knife piercing Wei Jin's heart. She glared, her emotions stirred, pointing at Wei Yumeng and shouting.

"If it weren't for you, would I have been tricked? Wei Yumeng, you are so vicious, aren't you afraid of retribution?"

Wei Yumeng shrugged and smiled, a hint of ruthlessness flashing in her eyes.

"Retribution? When you locked my mother in that dark room and left her to die, did you ever think about your own cruelty?"

Gu Shuyi's health was already poor, barely kept alive by hospital equipment and medication. They had disregarded her life. If she hadn't been found in time, she would be gone by now. Yet they dared to speak of cruelty to her.

These words left Wei Anguo and the others speechless. Yin Fang tugged at Wei Anguo.

"Say something."

Wei Anguo finally snapped back to attention. He hadn't expected his daughter's aura to become so powerful in just a few days. That gaze had genuinely intimidated him.

He decided to assert his fatherly authority and slammed the table.

"Wei Yumeng, are you not even listening to me anymore? Who told you to speak to your elders like this?"

"I apologize, but if you want me to respect you, you must first act like a father. I don't think there's a father in the world who would sell his daughter and disregard his wife's life."

Such a father was better off without.

Wei Anguo's face turned ashen. He raised his hand to strike Wei Yumeng, but she didn't dodge. Instead, she stepped forward.

"Dad, don't you still need something from me? If you strike me, your grand plan will fall through."

Yin Fang also held him back, whispering.

"Old Wei, calm down. Even if you don't think of anything else, you should think of Wei Jin."

Wei Anguo glared fiercely at Wei Yumeng, their gazes locked in a standoff, neither willing to yield.

Wei Yumeng wasn't afraid of being slapped. In fact, she almost wished Wei Anguo would hit her, which would give her a legitimate reason to leave.

If it weren't for her mother's belongings, no matter what Wei Anguo needed her for, she wouldn't have returned.

This home no longer belonged to her.

Wei Anguo, considering the company's current situation, slowly lowered his trembling hand.

He decided to get straight to the point. Wei Yumeng was no longer the pushover she used to be.

"It's simple if you want to take your mother's things. We need you to help make an introduction."

"An introduction for what?"

Yin Fang plastered a smile on her face and walked forward, placing her hands on Wei Yumeng's shoulders and guiding her to a chair.

Her attitude was clearly much better than Wei Anguo's.

"It's really not a big deal. You know, after that incident with Gao Dazhuang and Wei Jin, he just moved on and forgot about her. Now there's no suitable person to introduce to Wei Jin. Isn't Zhan Yichen, the second young master of the Zhan family, about the same age as Wei Jin? Yumeng, you were able to marry into the Zhan family because of us. Now you live a life of luxury, shouldn't you help Wei Jin a little?"

Wei Yumeng finally understood their scheme. She wasn't surprised, as Yin Fang and Wei Jin lacked any real ideas. What truly amused her was their audacity.

And so, she let out a laugh.

Wei Jin, feeling her mockery, roared in frustration.

"What are you laughing at?"

"I'm laughing at your overconfidence. Why do you think Zhan Yichen would want Wei Jin? He even dislikes me, and by extension, everyone in the Wei family. Do you think he'd like her?"

Besides, Zhan Yichen's personality was too erratic, he did things as he pleased, with a typical young master's temper. Wei Jin had also been spoiled by Wei Anguo and Yin Fang since childhood. If those two were put together, they'd likely tear down the roof.

Yin Fang paused, then quickly said, "That shouldn't be a problem. I heard the second young master of the Zhan family listens to Mr. Zhan very closely. You can talk to Mo Han about it. He dotes on you so much, he'll surely agree."

Wei Yumeng's eye twitched.

"You think... Zhan Yichen would want someone that even Gao Dazhuang didn't want?"

Wei Jin was so angry she wanted to hit someone, but didn't dare. She could only glare at Wei Yumeng, her voice sharp.

"What makes you think you're any better? When you married Zhan Mohan, it wasn't your first time, and he didn't dislike you, did he?"

Wei Jin curled her lips, truly thinking too highly of herself. She didn't even consider her own situation, always wanting more. Not only did she harm Xin Ran, but she herself lived a carefree life outside.

Mentioning Xin Ran made Wei Jin even more indignant.

"If it weren't for you, would Xin Ran be in trouble? You don't even try to get him out, and you comfortably live as the Zhan family's young madam, while Xin Ran's feelings for you are wasted."

Wei Yumeng seemed to sense something was amiss. She frowned and questioned Wei Jin.

"How do you know Xin Ran is in trouble?"

Not many people knew about this matter. Xin Ran's parents wouldn't release the news, as it would harm Xin Ran's reputation.

Wei Jin suddenly realized she had let slip. Faced with Wei Yumeng's sharp gaze, she became somewhat flustered.

"I... I heard it from someone."

"Someone? Who?"

Wei Yumeng was determined to get to the bottom of it. She had been suspecting who had betrayed Xin Ran. If it was Wei Jin, then how did she know? Xin Ran wouldn't have told her directly.

Wei Jin straightened her back, her neck stiff, and mustered the courage to yell at Wei Yumeng.

"What does that have to do with you!"

"How does it not concern me? You reported to Zhan Mohan, which got Xin Ran into trouble, and prevented me from leaving the Zhan family. And now you have the audacity to beg me!"

As soon as Wei Yumeng saw Wei Jin's expression, she knew Wei Jin was the one who had reported it.

Wei Jin, having been exposed, found it hard to save face. It was her fault, but she couldn't show weakness in front of Wei Yumeng.

She could only push forward.

"I was helping you, and you're ungrateful. The Zhan family's background is immense, and you still dared to run away with Xin Ran. I think you've gone mad."

Wei Yumeng finally understood. Since that was the case, she had even less reason to help Wei Jin, but she was curious how Wei Jin knew.

"Then tell me, how did you know I was planning to escape from Xin Ran?"

Wei Jin blurted out without thinking.

"Xin Ran told me himself."

She spread her hands, appearing indifferent.

"Since you're not willing to tell the truth, you'll have to figure out Zhan Yichen yourselves."

With that, she stood up, ready to leave.

Yin Fang quickly went to stop her. "Yumeng, don't be like this. We are family, after all. What we did before was wrong. This time, we genuinely want your help. It's not a big ask, just making an introduction. Whether it works out is up to them. Don't you also want to fulfill your mother's wish?"

Wei Yumeng had to admit that Yin Fang's words were much more skillful than Wei Anguo's or Wei Jin's.

She did want to get her mother's things back. Fine, as Yin Fang said, it was just an introduction, not asking her to be a matchmaker.

"Then how can I prove that you're telling the truth?"

Seeing an opportunity, Yin Fang immediately pledged her sincerity.

"If I go back on my word, you can ruin Wei Jin's reputation. I believe you have the ability to do so."

Wei Yumeng indeed could. She could even use Gao Dazhuang again. If the news got out, Wei Jin would not only be unable to marry Zhan Yichen, but perhaps any respectable person wouldn't want her.

Looking at the entire Wei family, there wasn't much else she could take.

"Alright, don't go back on your word then, or blame me for ruining your daughter."

"We won't. This time, we will definitely keep our word."

Yin Fang was overjoyed. If this opportunity could be seized, it would be for the best.

Wei Jin was surprised that Yin Fang had agreed to Wei Yumeng's request. She approached with a pained expression and acted spoiled.

"Mom, how could you agree to her terms?"

"Shut up! Be polite to Yumeng from now on. She's your older sister, don't be so arrogant."

Wei Jin pointed at Wei Yumeng in shock, seemingly unable to believe these words were coming from Yin Fang.

"Mom, you want me to be polite to her!"
